I use Uber much more than Lyft. But I don't often use ride share out of town. My trip to Chicago over a long duration I did use ride share exclusively for a week. Note I also used Uber much more and would compare prices. Not one or the other was always more reasonable. However, they were always different fares. In my option ride share is the way to go if in the city of Chicago. There are too many issues with parking and the high price that makes it counterproductive to rent. The functionality of the app was fine, but I preferred Ubers. I utilized Lyft around 4-6 times and found on average the rides arrived in under 12 minutes. Some were within a few, but others were longer. The drivers were almost all foreign, but spoke English. They were professional and mostly knew their way around. More instances of problems with Lyft that brings the review down to A-OK. I would recommend Uber over Lyft, but both were reliable and I would not hesitate using Lyft. Always tip your drivers. read more

Last night I took a ride from Indiana to Chicago. The driver did not want to take the route using the tollway because the tolls decreased his fare payment. After I insisted he follow the route he went into the lane for credit card and told me I should pay the tolls, and I refused. He then got on his phone and started yelling in a foreign language, drove very aggressively well over the speed limit and glared at me through the rear view mirror. After I reported the issue to customer safety, they removed the charge for the ride. This morning I woke up to a $75 "damage fee" on my debit card. The CRAZY driver (Abdul) submitted a fully contrived picture showing some liquid on the seat and claimed I spilled some oily food in his car. I had no food or drink with me. They refused to take it off even though I explained he was retaliating against me for not paying the toll. read more

Sunday during Bay to Breakers, well the race hadn't even began. The driver drove around for three hours while telling me to get out of the car and catch a bus!!! While driving further away from home!!! I finally had enough and Lyft customer service is the absolute worst group of people on earth!!!!!!!!!! No help, no empathy whatsoever. I finally got in touch with someone and I was told not to worry. Today Lyft stole $110.99 out of my bank account!!!!!!!!! For hours I was anxious and didn't know what to do. I finally spoke to a customer service rep who promised me that I wouldn't be charged. I also had to pay $11.93 to get home in a different car. He was supposed to refund that and told me not to worry about anything else!!!!! I had good reason to worry because they stole the money today!!! Now I have no money to get me through until pay day!!! I will NOT LET THIS GO!!!!!! read more

Lyft app at Midway is the worse - you get to the pick up zone and it acts like you just got off the plane - cancelled two rides and went to uber out of frustration! Get your act together Lyft! read more

Drivers never show up. Will make you wait 10 mins just for them to cancel as they literally drive by you. Every time I try to give Lyft the benefit of the doubt, they blow it. Garbage service. Would leave 0 stars if it was an option. The existence is an inconvenience to society. read more

As a driver if I could rank Lyft with ZERO stars I would. 1) Lyft does not give one shit about their drvers 2) If there is an accident that is not your fault you will be treated like a criminal 3) Lyft will cancel your driving account from time to time just for shits and giggles and NEVER LET YOU KNOW WHY 4) There is no roadside assistance 5) The deductible for Lyft insurance is $3000!!!! AND...... last but certainly not least, there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. NONE. NO ABILITY TO TALK TO A HUMAN OR RESOLVE ANYTHING. THEY ARE MLIERS, THEY ARE STUPID, THEY ARE EITHER AS DUMB AS A BIX OF ROCKS OR THEY['RE INSTRUCTED TO OBFUSCATE (look it up Lyft). It's a shit show at best. read more

This is a citywide post but you do not seem to have a folder for that: Lyft has sprinted into full thievery mode. Last Saturday I called for a car that arrived 10 minutes later but took off as soon as he arrived! We called again for a lyft, but the second time he did not even show up. Our card however, was charged for 2 trips compounding the offense. If you encounter this shameless behavior do not waste time trying to negotiate. Go to your credit card issuer and have them apply the coughing back the $ maneuver do not let the card company avoid defending your rights. read more

I lost an item on a recent ride and tried to stop the driver as he pulled away, unsuccessfully. I then immediately used the Lyft app to call and chat the driver as well as Lyft support about my lost bag. I'm very disappointed in the process that is in place for potential applicants. A requirement that Lyft has is a vehicle inspection. If the applicants is rejected for any reason in the hiring process. Lyft should in good faith reimburse the applicants for the vehicle inspection. The applicant's shouldn't lose their money on the inspection if Lyft chose to go in another direction. Highly Disappointed in the ethics and standards, Lyft holds in the communities it serves. read more

My complaint is not about the driver, who was excellent. My complaint is about the exorbitant fare I was charged for a short ride. The fare was $45 plus tip for a ride that should have been about $20. Yes, the weather was bad but I was desperate to get home and there were no taxis. I believe Lyft takes advantage of that. They should be able to use "dynamic pricing" without gouging passengers. read more

This is for Lyft Chicagoland. Friendly, real People, genuine, on time, willing to wait, willing to adjust. Thank you. Personable, on time, cheaper than Uber?? (78.76% of the time). Luggage was always accommodated, they always have tips and tricks about traffic, the airport or a good spot to catch a good meal. They'll talk about their grind and I can relate. Because everyday, we're all hustlin and staying responsible. Work a 12 hour shift and handle one last ride before the app shuts them down. Now that's called dedication and working hard for their money. read more

They overcharged my credit card twice for 11.98 plus 22.64. I tipped 6 dollars and the ride was suppose to be 11.98. When I got home and didn't do the rating. I received a 22.64 fee. All they gave me was a 15 credit to lyft. I cant use lyft money to buy food that I needed and we are having the biggest storm ever. For that dick to charge me 22.64 and for lyft to give me a lyft credit to get another ride made no sense. I lost misplaced my phone during my ride last night, and the only thing they can thinkof doing is leaving a message for the driver, who has not responded in over 24 hours. Dealing with their customer service workers is a Kafka-esque descent into a very specific hell where you are surrounded by 6th graders who refuse to take any responsibility for anything. When I asked them for a contact to a higher up, they straight out refused me. They only have one process to find a lost item, and after they expend that, they're totally out of ideas. How do they stay in business, and how do they avoid class action suits? I'm in customer service myself, and if I was that ineffectual I would be fired, and I would've deserved it. How can they have such an inefficient customer service response and still expect people to continue to do business with them? I really don't get it. I will never use them again, and go out of my way to discourage other people from using this service. read more

What could improve?! How about stopping the business!! One of my good friends whom I also work with was recently almost ATTACKED & if they hadn't gotten away they potentially would've been RAPED!! My friend is a single mother of 5 kids!!! If LYFT is supposed to be providing safe passage for their customers, how can it be guaranteed safe when a driver is attempting to attack an innocent person?! I will NEVER recommend this service to anyone!! I'd rather give my friends at work a free ride home with GUARANTEED safety, than allow them to be put in potential danger of their lives!! Seeing as I can't give "zero" stars, I'm forced to give it a one-star rating, but this company doesn't deserve customers when they can't guarantee health & well-being! read more

If I could rate the customer service at Lyft for a 7 year Lyft driver with Gold status and 5 star rating, I'd rate it a big fat pimply vomitous ZERO. Your customer service is the WORST I've ever experienced in my 61 years of life. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. No respect for your drivers, no access to help, no help AT all. Agents are dumb. Email assistance is all bots, no help, you're stealing money out of the pockets of your drivers and I've never been treated so badly by an employer in my life. For context, please see below my report on Somchai driver that I submitted immediately after the ride on 2 December at 10:31 PM, - "He stopped at a green light in middle of street on Ashland and Winnemac, and when I said "maybe pull up to sidewalk so cars can get by and it's not safe" he yelled "you said to stop here! " I did not instruct him to stop there, I specifically had said to please park at fire hydrant, as my building is right there. He continued yelling at me, and I had not once yelled or said anything rude." I will let readers know that most of Lyft drivers stop in the middle of the street and block traffic, and as I'm getting into the car with my Service dog, I am always concerned about another car, either hitting us from behind or honking, and getting impatient and yelling, which has happened before.. I have been a member of Lyft for many years, and very loyal, I only use Uber if I have to. The only time that I ever get upset is when Driver does what I just said above, and I believe that this is justified, especially as, in my notes to every single driver, it always says "please pull up to the curb, if at all possible," and then, I put a smiley face so that they won't feel that I'm being demanding. Then, Lyft has sent me two warning to suspend my account emails from drivers who gave *me attitude when I asked them to pull up to curb. Apparently, Lyft favours the word of their drivers over loyal members of many years, such as myself. Very unfair, and I feel taken for granted. If this continues, I will be switching to Uber. read more

I dropped my phone in the back of a poorly lit Lyft ride on Thanksgiving. November, 28th 2024 at 9:06 pm. Once realized this, my husband called the phone and the driver answered. He said, you have our phone. He agreed and hung up. We called Lyft and even reported the loss/theft due to Lyft's lack of consumer service. which is non-existent. There is no number for this type of incident. No human to converse with, just bots and unanswered texts. I can't place a police report without a name. If I were able to give a negative star, I would. Avoid Lyft at all costs. You may save a buck or lose a lot more. Yes, some rides are cheaper, but they are not worth the loss. read more

At Chicago O'Hare Airport: I kept looking for my driver, Rashid, when he finally texted me. I texted back asking where he was because I couldn't see his car. He texted back "I'm here". Sorry, that doesn't help me much. How about instead saying "I'm at the upper level departures at terminal 2". That would have caught my attention since I had just picked up my bag downstairs and was looking for him there. I get that the instructions to meet at the upper level was shown on the app but, again, I was a little brain dead after traveling all day & night. The company refunded the $6.25 but I was never able to tell them WHY I requested the refund. Frustrating!! read more

I spent the weekend in Chicago and we used Lyft a great deal. We were trying to pack a lot in during our very short visit and we had a couple of snafus that led to longer car rides than we anticipated. In my haste, I tipped the drivers (about 7 in total) but failed to give them ratings... they ALL deserved 5 Stars (minus the very first one... he gets a Negative one Star). Long story short, I went into the app to update my experiences and rate the drivers only to find out that once you give the tip, the window of opportunity to rate them closes. So, I selected the "Help" option and the only options provided (via a drop down menu) were all negative. Why would Lyft only give the Rider the option to complain?!?! That is so unfair to all of the AWESOME Drivers that I have encountered. Lyft Corporate Offices... you guys need to do better! Why is it that you only allow the Rider to give negative Feedback? Sometimes we want to let you know when your drivers are giving outstanding customer service like these drivers here: the following drivers deserve 5 Stars, Ride Date 9/17/23 = Rachid & Mia. Ride Date 9/18/23 = Diego, Keith, Leo, Kolade & Folagbade. PLEASE update your app so that Riders can give positive feedback and give ratings even after the Ride has concluded and payment and tips have been received (even if only for 24-hours). Thank you. FOOTNOTE: Ride Date 9/17/23 = Driver: ISRARUL... Negative 1 Star. He lied about showing up and stated that we were not there. There is no way we would have missed a Bright Yellow Toyota... and then he had the audacity to try to charge us. read more

Man not gonna Lyft needs a little toggle where it notifies drives to not talk to the passenger. Took a Lyft from midway airport. I was surprised to see the driver opted not to take the highway but soon realized why because he pulled into a gas station, parked at a gas pump and got out and went into the gas station (nothing was communicated). After a few minutes, he walks out of the gas station and walks around the corner of the building!!! He eventually reappears, gets in the car and when I asked what's going on he simply said "petrol" but he never pumped any gas. When we left the gas station, he was swearing profusely and driving erratically. When this to customer service the response was "we won't pair you with this driver again". read more

The driver came to pick me up and decided to cancel the rider by dropping me off at the close by location. His excuse was that i typed the worng address. Be aware before you use this company, they are dishonest and charge you money for service that never took place! We got charged 109 USD for a ride that never happened, we have evidence (Photos and Chat at time of occurrence) which we provided the company. It's an absolute rubbish company and the worst customer service, not helpful at all. In the meantime I have an emergency situation to get home to so starting to panic. Then all of a sudden, my app states I canceled the drive and will be charged the $5.
