They should just close their doors and go out of business as they are as good as having no law firm at all.

I'm rating them one star because instead of taking responsibility for the mistake, communicating with me about what happened, & the week long delay in the eviction process as a result, SBWP chose to try to pass the cost of their mistake on to me (they billed me for the notice posted at the wrong address & again when they put it on the right address). When I contested the charges they agreed to drop them, and then stated they would no longer be able to represent me & I would need to find a new firm. ‍

April 2006, I had abdominal pain, went to st anthonys north to find out I needed gal bladder surgery. I was in severe pain but they did not want to do the surgery then, so they referred me to a surgeon who then scheduled it a week later at lutheren in wheatridge. It was supposed to be a laproscopic surgery, in and out that day but the delay due to st. Anthony not wanting to do it then, caused my gal bladder to rupture during surgery causing me great pain and having to stay at the hospital 3 nights. I paid a copay to st anthonies of $500 And was required to pay a copay to lutherin totaling $1000 before getting my surgery. Which was my total out of pocket limit for my insurance at that time. Even Lutherins bill to me shows I had paid $1098..not sure what the $98 was, I think a payment or 2, which I didnt agree to at that time either. Lutherin over charged me for my 3 night stay by billing me for a Pediatric semi private room. Problem is I was 36 at the time and shared my room with 3 other people, resulting in an additonal $1000 per night charged to me in error. See document # 2 Agency of Credit Control and lawyer Jan O Westman Case # 2007C043155 Jeffco I am complaining about ACC Collection Agency and there Lawyer Jan O. Westman because they both took me to court and both stem from my Surgery in 2006. 1.)The Amount claimed that I owed was $3227.42 , as of date of summons and complaint. 3) The plaintiff and attorney clearly state that I owed $1475.55 principal , less payments of $1098.50 plus interest through 6/07/07 of $303.37 for a total of $2877.42 The Problem is, they added my payment into the total... and did not deduct it So here is the correct math, see document #3 $1475.55 , minus payment of $ 1098.50 Equals $377.05, not $2877.42 And the interest they were calculating was waaaaay off. These numbers do not even match Document # 1 4) ACC was also seeking 18% interest when the law clearly states 8% , and this being fraudulent bill to top that. 5) I was harrased often for years and then garnished for over $4000 dollars.. On $377.05 in Medical bills that were clearly fraud. 6) I was finally able get some billing details years later. Yet, never a signed contract or agreement. I Finally got a copy of the complete docs last week. 7)I contacted Lutherin Hospital Billing on 5.1.2019 to get more documents and all they have is my name and no information. 8.)If this bill was not fraudulent in the first place for wrong amount sued along with being over billed for pediatrics, it would have qualified as balanced billing. 9.)C.R.S. § 10-16-705 , and Federal law prohibit Balance billing . Both of the bills used in this case were clearly balanced bills. Participating network providers are prohibited by contract,state and federal laws from balance billing the member/ patient for this charge. Clearly stated in payments to providers and E.O.B. explananation of benefits sent to members/patients . The medical provider also signs a P.P.A. provider participation agreement. I dont make alot of money, and have a few medical issues that make day to day life hard on me. I hope these complaints can help protect others from both of these Fraudulent companies. I also think its strange that these collection companies never respond with anyones name on the collections letters or correspondence. I guess to protect themselves personal when they do illegal suits. Even though there are laws to protect patients from balance billing, over billing , fraud billing, doctors, hospitals, collection agencies still try and bill for these illegal bills, even though they know they are illegal. They know most of the poor, sick, injured, elderly and even vererans cant afford an attorney or legal help . They know there is little anyone does to punish them. Sadly, It seems like the Judges are YES men to these offenders, clearly approving the illegal lawsuits, stating they reviewed the case, most Judges already know these bills are fraud and illegal. Someone needs to protect us from these people, since the courts rarely seem to do. Allways get an attorney, or at least legal aid on any medical bill. Please write 9news and your state senators and congress Tell them your story, also tell them we need laws like Texas has, to protect patients from medical bill fraud.. and Much more by making it illegal to garnish, attach liens against people. Thus making Hospitals , Doctors, Lawyers , less likely to sue, even less likely to rip patients off. Lets stop these people from ripping off the sick, poor, elderly, disabled, veterans.
