My experience with them involved extreme delays, poor…read morecommunication, unfulfilled scope of work, and ultimately a bounced check. * Delays & Cancellations: After receiving my insurance payout, Home Tech delayed the ridge cap repair for four months. They repeatedly canceled scheduled dates, explicitly telling me my house was not a priority. During this delay, the roof leak and internal damage worsened significantly. * Incorrect Materials & Refusal of Itemization: When workers finally arrived, they installed plastic ridge caps instead of the metal materials specified and paid for by insurance. When I requested an itemized invoice and bill of materials, the co-owner, Katie, refused to provide one--claiming that small jobs require higher markup and providing invoices would prevent them from making money. * Financial Mismanagement: After weeks of asking for my remaining balance, I was forced to mention reporting them to the Better Business Bureau just to get my refund check issued. Three weeks after depositing the refund, my bank notified me that the check bounced due to insufficient funds. * Unprofessional Conduct: Management actively avoids accountability, shifts blame onto their inspectors, and dodges calls. While Samir was helpful in trying to move things forward, working with Katie and executive management was a complete nightmare. Save yourself the frustration and hire a company that honors its schedules, uses proper materials, and maintains basic financial integrity.

As others have stated, do not let them speak with your insurance company. Ask for an estimate but dont tell them how much you are getting. They will hound you for every insurance dollar without providing any justification or proof of their cost. Their owner (Katy) is not very professional (at least in my case, would only reply via emails. She would not talk to me over the phone) and when asked to provide proof of cost or scope of work, would delay, delay, delay until they did the work and then told me that I owed them. Although, our house turned out OK, i would not recommend them to my worst enemy. I would also caution anyone that doesnt have a support network who you can run things by, to shop around and be comfortable with who you work with. I had the support of my family, but without them, i could have been out thousands of OOP dollars. They also threatened to take me to court if i didn't hand over EVERY insurance dollar. I had my insurance company write them an email stating that certain checks were meant for the policy owner only and not the contractor and they still claimed i had to hand over the check. This is not the standard, and thankfully you can find other roofers who will do honest work.

They did a great job installing the roof and cleaning up the area when they were finished. I can't say enough good things about their Director of Sales (whom I worked with), Luke Olzawski. Luke really went to bat for us with our insurance company (which was a long drawn out process) because we had storm damage that the insurance didn't want to cover, but eventually acknowledged. I highly recommend Freitag Solutions to anyone in the NoVA area and I suggest you ask for Luke.

Worst of all, 4) I don't think the solar attic fan they supposedly installed even works as it has made little difference in cooling my home.
