    Best steak!!
    Michael S.

What a great restaurant. First I must say the place is well designed. The patio is a good size. The service is awesome. We were all pleased with our service experience. The food is so good! We had the three course set price meals. We all had something different and all were pleased. My steak was outstanding. French onion soup was one of the best I've had and the dessert put out our dining experience over the top. We recommend this restaurant.

    Oysters chilled and perfect!

Dynamite lunch at Luxe. Started with a dozen Oysters and had the Smashburger and Luxebuger as entrees. Very, very good. Nice wine selection and the Creme Brulee outstanding. Our server was perfect!

Came here on a Saturday for some brunch, we sat in the patio which was nice because the weather was nice. We ordered drinks to start, unfortunately the waitress spilled one of the drinks on the table all over my phone and shoes. Wasn't too happy about it, because it seemed like she didn't know how to properly hold the drink tray, maybe for next time it would be nice if she put the tray on the table before handling our drinks. Other then that the food was good, I've been here before for lunch and I've loved the lunch menu. It's a nice restaurant, the staff is nice and it's location is perfect right at the middle of the byward market, definitely a must try during summer time

I came here for a birthday dinner with a friend and was extremely happy with the service and food. The evening started off with complimentary bread which was warm and the butter was very tasty. The mussels were absolutely delicious! I ordered the duck and my friend ordered the chicken. The duck was so flavorful and rendered down properly. We ordered a side of the mac and cheese which was okay, nothing too special. The mashed potatoes and mushrooms were also a hit between my party! I will definitely come back to check out more of the menu!

I went here for Sunday brunch and sat on their patio the first weekend restaurants opened up post covid and had a lovely breakfast. Food: I ordered the classic eggs benedict ($17) and it was delicious! The portion size was fair for the price. The hollandaise sauce was yummy and creamy, but the ham is a bit thicker cut than I like, but still good. The potato hash was also decent. I do think its a bit misleading of the menu to say it came with a side of fresh fruit when I only got half a strawberry and a small slice of melon dew. My friend ordered the strawberry shortcake french toast ($16) and the portion was very generous! The french toast tasted exactly like strawberry shortcake. It was very sweet (too sweet for me personally) but still good. I recommend ordering a side of meat or something salty with this to balance the sweet with something salty. Drinks: They did not have ice coffee on the menu (which is surprising for a breakfast place?!) so they got me a makeshift ice coffee ($6) which was coffee in a glass of ice and a side of simple syrup to add to it. It was pretty good. I also tried the Tepaché drink ($15) and it was good- very pineapple-ey, but a little overpriced in my opinion. Service and ambiance: The staff was friendly and accommodating since they made a makeshift ice coffee. But the service was pretty slow, took a while (maybe 20 minutes) for the waiter to take our order. To be fair it was the first weekend patios were open and i think the waitress was new. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice, almost elegant, and cute. The patio was very nice, was a half booth style and had a roof so it was not too hot out in the sun. Overall, I would go again and try their other types of eggs benedict. This is a perfect place to go for brunch with friends and enjoy drinks.

They were very busy. Under that circumstance, the manager and bartender did an outstanding job IMHO. I really enjoyed both the meal and the service. The Duck leg was right up there. The asparagus was perfection. I thought, for the price point, I could not have eaten better. I just don't give out 5 stars. It's a credibility thing. This meal and the service tempted me...

Definitely still one of my favourites in Ottawa. I have never once been disappointed by the food, and that Australian Wagyu is just as good as the first time I had it! Yummy in my tummy!!!

spectacular experience with Tom and Olivia this evening! they were amazing from start to finish. the drinks were wonderful (drank my Tickle Me Pink too fast to take a picture but it was delicious - Tom recommended it and it rocked!) food was out of this world. they do steak like no one else, cooked to perfection, tender, flavourful, all around fantastic. the tartare..... y'all........ delish. the fries with the steak frites are so delightful, little shoestring fries with truffle oil and lots of parm we will absolutely be returning!

Came here for my birthday dinner and wanted to make an evening out of it at this restaurant but we ended the evening just over and hour in. It was a hot summers day, and the restaurant was just boiling hot. The seating is a tad tight, especially when you are seated next to a large party. We were looking for a romantic evening, and really thought this place would deliver, even requesting to be seated in a booth, but again, being seated next to a large party, it was quiet uncomfortable. The restaurant was not packed on a Friday evening, it really did feel like our waiter was not very attentive and lost interest within the first 20 min of our dinning experience. I ordered the lobster poutine ($18.00), which I heard was amazing. I only ate half. It was too rich. The waiter never asked if I enjoyed it, and just took the dish away. My hubby ordered the salmon ($30.00), which was presented nicely, and he said he enjoyed. He also had the oysters to start and was not blown away. I feel like this place would be great to stop by for a glass of wine, and gives off a 1940's cigar bar type of feel, as the restaurant is covered with dark wood and leather from top to bottom. I really did have high hopes when I visited this restaurant as it has been on my list for a while, but I would not go back.

Came to this restaurant after having read the reviews and seeing their awesome menu. The location is great, as it's in the downtown core and easy to find. The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated and romantically dim. We were seated by the kitchen, which actually wasn't a bother considering the amount of plates coming out. We ordered drinks and began scouring the menu. I couldn't decide between a filet mignon or getting steak frites, but I ended up with steak frites and the bf got the surf and turf. For a starter though, we ordered the crispy squid. The squid was exquisite. It was breaded lightly, the pieces were generous and the sauce was delicious. It was expensive (18$), but definitely worth it. Now for the mains.. So, I was very happy with my main. The steak was cooked very well with a nice glaze on it, as well as the flavoured butter on top and the fries were crispy and thin. Great! However, the surf and turf was a bit disappointing. I know it said petit filet mignon, but we were actually quite surprised when we saw how petit they meant. The dish just looked not put very well together unfortunately. As you'll see in the picture, the shrimp was almost as big as the filet mignon. The side of broccoli was as expected...broccoli. I personally liked the lobster Mac and cheese, but my SO found it too heavy. The steak was somewhat under-seasoned and I definitely preferred the taste of my steak. I struggled a bit with the star rating of this place because of the second main dish, but I loved the squid and my steak was awesome. The service was good and so was the ambiance. So, I'm comfortably giving a 4 stars; however I would revisit that main to be honest. Overall, GET THE SQUID!

I got away with Chorizo, some lean ground beef and some beautiful olive oil. Is this place cheap? No! But, I pay for quality without batting an eye. Especially foodie stuff. Next round was a Tuesday aft. Ahhh. Better. I could see everything, not so packed. It was just after a long weekend so some things were sold out but I grabbed more lean beef, a chicken parm portion, a beef Jamaican patty and a stuffed potato. All were good! The chicken portion from the fresh cabinet was $11.50! More than my lb of ground beef! But it was a filling piece and fed me x 2. I love this place.

I wanted a smaller piece, so the person working cut me a smaller piece from the big piece of beef. The beef itself was aged well, but could have been more tender. I'm not in a hurry to try it again (I felt Saslove's meat quality was much more tender), but as for the beef's flavour, it was more pronounced. They also have a bone broth station, which I tried. I got the beef broth (more expensive to make than chicken), and added seaweed, scallions, and salt/pepper (to taste; I like that the broth doesn't have salt already)! Drumroll please... Riviera -- Wow…read more This is what I'm talking about. Sexy. Sophisticated. Huge ceilings. Gorgeous bar. And a Negroni list with ten different versions. Don't miss Riviera when you're in Ottawa. We arrived an hour early before our third dinner guest joined us, so we started with a drink and a small appetizer. After several of my jokes fell flat, I told the waitress to just pick a Negroni for me based on what she'd heard from me so far. She nailed it. It was a slightly sweeter Negroni than the traditional one, with a hint of rosemary. We shared a dynamite tartare to start. Our buddy arrives and, without even looking at the menu, says: "You have to try a Negroni here -- they clearly know what they're doing." So I went for a second one -- this time a classic. Perfect. Next up: the seafood tower. Honestly, it felt like it had just come out of the sea. Razor clams, tuna belly tartare/ceviche on a mini salad leaf that was outstanding, plus lobster and crab claws that were spot on. A fabulous start. There were three of us, so we shared a steak with fries and a beautiful au jus, perfect gnocchi, and a salad with chicory, little nuts of some kind, and tons of shaved cheese -- Parmesan-ish. I can't remember exactly what it was because I'm writing this the morning after... and there may have been a few more wines involved. We finished by sharing a pavlova with passion fruit -- three spoons. I almost hate to admit this... but it was better than anything I've had in Toronto in years. Everything felt fresh, almost farm-to-table. Light, lively, and just a great vibe. In my opinion, Riviera is the perfect restaurant. Oh, and I added our waitress to my newsletter list because she wanted to try an excellent Polish water called Perlage that I think the restaurant should carry. I got the feature cocktail ($8) which happened to be a Peach Bellini that day. My husband got the Al's Lager ($6.50). We shared the Calamari ($10) and Sliders ($13). My Peach Bellini was delicious and was served with a slice of dehydrated orange and a paper straw. The hubster thought the lager was ok. The sliders were excellent. There were 3 sliders and they were a good size. The bun was a plain brioche bun and was lightly toasted. The beef patty was flavourful. It came with cheese, pickles and burger sauce. I would get these again. The Calamari were good, although not particularly unique in taste. They were battered and tender, not chewy. They came with seafood sauce. Service was courteous, although the server came back twice to verify our order, lol. Our order was correct in the end, so no big deal. The restaurant ambiance is poshy but not pretentious. Very little ravioli and you actually could not find the pasta squares under the slippery shitake mushrooms, the tremendous amount of oil and butter, the cream sauce was so overly done and sickenly rich. Why add so much to a what should be a simple pasta? I had a couple of bites and then boxed and brought home.....picture of all the toppings, too much, and look at that oil and butter!
