The residents were very nice, welcoming for the couple of meals that I was there for. The building is beyond nice for what I would have expected for an assisted living place, and I worked at one for a couple of years. When dad moved in, the building guy was there to mount the tv and inspect the apartment to ensure it was up to our expectations.

They were also able to get my mom to do activities, which the other two places she lived were not able to do, which made us feel like she was part of community. They also asked us questions to get to know mom better, at meals they would sit with the residents and talk about their families or interests, it was very nice to feel like they were trying to get to know mom. Every time we asked mom if she liked it there, her response was always, "I really like it here" Toward the end for my mom, my sisters and I spent a lot of time in her room. The staff was amazing to us, brought us snacks, water, coffee, etc. They also would stop by her room and check on her and us to make sure there wasn't anything we needed. At the same time they gave us our privacy during a very difficult time. When my mom passed, I was pleased with how many people came in and told us something about how mom touched their lives. I am so happy that we chose BLC for my mom!

My father has been at Benedictine on two separate occasions and for two very different reasons. The…read morefirst time it was due to having a knee replacement done. He thrived there and therapy was wonderful. The aides were so nice to him and great to us as a family when we had question. That was 2 1/2 years ago, since that time my father has had not one but two strokes and spent 5 months a Benedictine trying to get back to whatever is to be his new normal. We were very unsure if he would even walk again. My father is now in an assisted living facility and doing very well. No he is not what he used to be but thanks to therapy and the help of the nursing staff and aides at Benedictine his is able to walk and do many more things than we ever thought possible. They are amazing people that do amazing things for the residents that live there. They have a tough job but always found time to cheer him up and on. Without them I am sure he would not be were he is. Thank you all at Benedictine for making his life better, and know this if he ever has to make a nursing home his permanent place to live he would want it to be at Benedictine.

They are served 3 meals a day restaurant style in lovely surroundings, but with only one choice. My mother says the grade of meat they serve is not up to her (very high) standards. I don't know if this is true, but coming from a vegetarian with very peculiar eating habits, I take that with a grain of salt. The meals I've enjoyed there are always great. With a library, in-house piano recitals, well-appointed apartment units and livelier than expected residents, this place is tough to fault on any level. I hope and trust that is they pay their employees as much as they possibly can and that their lowest wage meets the $15/hour non-poverty requirement!

The Village is a wonderful residential facility for older folks and is not necessarily a nursing home but there are nursing facilities. Explaining this is by offering different levels of housing from no care needed apartments, memory care and assisted living. Amazingly good food in the terrace main dining room. Decorated like a high level restaurant the food is top notch. You can't walk in off the street and dine but need to be the guest of a resident. There are other dining options for residents as well. There are daily activities including a pool, gym, classes on just about everything artistic and holistic, a library, music shows, movies. Visiting a resident I found it very quiet. There is a long waiting list, so long they even have listing closed for now as the wait is in years not months.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Not impressed with the memory care unit. Our mom's diet was…read morenever abided by, so she always had stomach problems and the food was consistently cold, nasty and delivered late. She was always alone in her room, they never brought her out to socialize or interact with others. Communication was almost non-existent unless initiated by us. The final straw was when one of the other residents, who should have had closer supervision, fell into my mom giving her a traumatic brain injury when my mom banged her head on the floor board and laid in a pool of blood. She was in the hospital for almost one week and nobody from New Perspectives even inquired to see how she was doing. Now she is confined to a wheelchair, needs more care and her brain will never be the same. After this we moved her to a place in St. Peter, best decision ever to leave New Perspective. Residents are just dollar signs to New Perspective.
