Large landing areas from the tee boxes. In general, a fairly large park that will tucker you out. Pretty flat for the most part with gradual increases of elevation. Good drainage. Heads up for horse riders that swing by here randomly. Wooded: Very difficult for a first timer, but the learning curve is about 4 holes or so. On this course you get a chance to be closer to the towering trees. You'll also get a chance to beat the shit out of your discs as well, but that's the risk you take. Well designed to get people closer to the trees and make 'em pissed off. Both: No water hazards, just lots of insects. You may lose discs if you're not paying attention, or if they get stuck in a tree. Aside from that, your bag should remain pretty much full. Replay: High

With junior in tow we took a crack at the West Side course which features much longer, tougher fairways than the East and South courses. I didn't take note of all the fairways but just as an example, hole #10 is 600ft and hole #12 is 564ft. There's a whole lot of distance here and it's tough to attain most holes in 3 shots. Overall I loved the course. In addition to the distance on each hole are your standard tree's and bushes to knock down shots. This course is a monster but it would be fun trying to master it. Be sure to leave yourself a good deal of time to walk it. Can't wait to get back here to try the East and South courses. Cheers.

Well, the Glide Disc Golf Pro Shop is the best disc golf store I have ever been to, period. In early July, me and my two friends trekked up to Wisconsin for a weekend of disc golf. We made our way to Hiestand Park in Madison. However, the course was absolutely packed, so we wandered across the street to check out the disc golf store. This store had it all. Innova, Discraft, Gateway, Millennium and many brands I'm not even familiar with. They had every disc you could ever want, in every plastic you could ever want. They also had bags, shirts, water bottles, towels and bug spray (which ended up saving us because those mosquitoes were as thick as thieves). The shirts, towels and water bottles each had a pretty cool custom Glide logo (see picture I uploaded). The guys who ran the store were super cool and gave us a tip on another local course that wouldn't be so busy (Vallarta-Ast DGC in case you want to check it out). That course ended up being hours of fun and we have them to thank for it. I hope their little store succeeds. They have a fantastic selection and really know their stuff. I couldn't have asked for a more positive disc buying experience.

From store logo custom discs of your favorite style to comfortable moisture wicking clothing. Sorted by styles and weights, Glide has it all. Did I need a 'Birdie Bag' (a pouch of talc to dry my sweaty hands)? Probably not, but now I have one. I ended up getting a Glide exclusive Aviar R wood putter. some shirts, stickers, and course tips. I didn't feel like it was overpriced at all. I am in the process of trying to get some more items as it has been about 7 years since I was in through the doors. Glide on in. You will be glad you did

Token Creek Park is one of the larger recreational areas in Dane County. I frequently visit this…read morepark because it contains one of the nicer dog parks around Madison. The dog park is located WAY in the back behind all of the recreational areas. There is plenty of parking and a dog registration board in case registering your dog for the park skipped your mind. The park is SINGLE gated so please be careful that none of the furry friends get out. The park is large enough that releasing other people's dogs tends not to be an issue. Immediately within the entrance of the park there is a smaller fenced in small dog area for puppies, small dogs, and older dogs. It even has a fun little agility course and picnic table! The main park is quite large (it takes around 30 minutes to walk completely around) with some topography. The short rolling hills are a nice change from the flatter parks around Madison. The park has tall grass and plenty of trees of the dogs to run around, which is also nice from the sheets of ice and short grass in the city parks depending on the season you go during. My only gripe about this park is there are a couple owners who show up with dogs with some aggressive behavior. While is not a complaint on the park, beware that not all of the dogs you will encounter here are friendly. Do not let the chance of aggressive dogs stop you though! 90% of my experiences here have been positive!

Token Creek is a huge County park with a campground, disc golf and numerous group shelters for…read morepicnics. It's also dog-friendly with numerous trails through the park (on-leash) along with a fenced in off-leash area. The off-leash area is at the back of the park (if you enter off of 151) so keep driving back, back, back until you get to it. There is a perimeter trail that follows the fence line which is your best hope for some shade as the rest of the park is primarily prairie and sunny. You can do loops circling the whole park or cut through the middle (over a slight hill) to make your loop shorter. It's maybe 15 -20 minutes if you're doing the full perimeter loop. There also is a separate puppy / small dog area which is nice. This area offers some agility equipment but unfortunately that's not accessible to the rest of us! It's similar to other County/City parks, there are bags for poop pick-up but no running water so bring your own. There also weren't a lot of people at this park so if you're looking for fewer folks, this may be your spot. If you want a lot of canine company, you may be better off at nearby Sycamore Park. Overall, it's a great option if you're passing through town as it's right off the highway.

Rosie and I met some really nice people and dogs there today. We both got some exercise (well, only one of us is asleep right now). We'll definitely be back! Doggie bags are available near the entrance. Trash cans are set up around the park. The only thing I wish they had was doggie water fountains. Yes, I know it's winter; I'm just saying. Also, the county park has lots of different sections/parking lots/entrances. As you get close they have helpful signs pointing you towards the dog exercise area. Rose and I can't wait to go back!

I was in the area picking something up and decided to take a short walk through this park. My…read morenephews and I used to come here in Spring when everything was still covered in snow, and in winter, the park is popular for cross-country skiing, so I'm quite familiar with it. I've also attended a foraging class here through the Madison Public Library, which was a great experience. The trails are easy to walk, but keep an eye out for black walnuts that ripen and drop onto the ground--you could easily step on one and twist an ankle (as I unfortunately did). Along the way, you might spot squirrels and hear birds singing in the bushes. I even came across some mushrooms, which reminded me of the foraging class. There's a restroom facility and a pond nearby, and in winter, local families love coming here for sledding on hill. I've done it myself--it's a lot of fun, just make sure to protect your back on the way down! Don't say I didn't warn you!

If you have your own skates you can skate for as long as you want. They have 2 rinks, one for regular ice skating and the other for hockey. They have the green assistance rollators, for when you need assistance ice skating, that are useful. The ice was chipped in some areas, but overall good quality. There is a huge hill close by that looks like it can be sledded when there's more snow.

Fun park with plenty of things to do…read more Originally intended to go here for some fun disc golf and enjoyed my experience here. The course has a wide variety of different challenges and terrain available, though the quality of the tees and signage varies throughout the course. I wasn't a huge fan of the earlier holes which go close to the street and around the areas where geese congregate. However, the middle holes go through some beautiful forest and have a much more interesting combination of terrain. The baskets are difficult at times to see, to updated signage would also be better. But overall, a fun set of challenges. Even if you're not into disc golf, the park itself is beautiful with a large pond, many walking paths, and a variety of nature. There's also basketball courts, a baseball diamond, pickleball courts, picnic areas, picnic shelter, washrooms, tennis courts, and other amenities. This looks like a great place to enjoy a sunny afternoon.

For a community park, this beats every other park I've been to thus far. We frequent this park…read moreoften during the week. Not in the winter, but in the summer we may be here 3 to 4 times a week. Some times we rode our bikes, 5 miles away from our home, to the park traveling on the ice age hiking trail and what a glorious trail that is. Once summer arrives, we eagerly await the opening of the wading pool. The closest thing we have to a beach really. The park is very well kept. The grasses are well maintained and trimmed. Restrooms are clean. There's also the travel center on the grounds, that also acts as the welcome station for Janesville. If you go there and tell them you are newly arrived they will give you a packet which includes several saving coupons that can be used at various stores and eateries. Parking is abundant and can be found at different locations through out the park. There are many picnic tables with fixed grills ready to be used. I bring a grill top just to be safe and clean when using these grills. You can fly kites, have large parties as people often do, and there are even short hikes with trail heads close by. The main attraction is the play ground itself. Designed like a large forest camp with many places to climb, run, explore it truly is heaven for kids as they run around expending energy. There are slides any one can go down. These have rollers so no matter how you are you will go down, and fast too. You really have to watch yourself coming down these type of slides. I have seen many adults land smack flat on their buttock, and I laugh every time watching them remembering my first time too. There's also rings for kids to strengthen their grip and rocking platforms to help control their balance. When the wading pool is open it gets crowded but several life guards are always present to make sure there is no misbehaving by kids as well as adults. The spouting whale slides and umbrella water rain falls are excellent attractions for the kids to take pictures on. The surrounding area also offers kids to begin their exploration of nature. There is lots to see in plants as well as bugs. Many have vibrant colors and are so strange looking that makes them very interesting. We loved coming here. It's a great way to spend family time while your kid unleashes that bottled up energy and get a good work out building his physical abilities with coordination. Many fond memories and pictures are here. Wish there was one close to us now.
