I didn't make an appointment but I waited for less than 10 minutes on what seemed like a pretty busy saturday. I got my hair cut on Saturday by Raphael and I liked it! w00t! So yeah, maybe I've found my new hair place in the South Bay. My cut was $45, not bad at all, although I didn't get much done but I thought it was fair. All the stylists also do color. Zaina is awesome! I'm a natural blond who is 50% gray now. Zaina hooks me up with the most fantastic color and cut. She incorporates highs and lows into my hair and it looks so natural. I'm usually one and done with stylists but I've been back to Leia three times now and each time I like my cut and color better and better. I lived in redondo beach for 5 years. I first went to Bob Roy but then my hair stylist left to go back to Mass. Plus I did not really like the people at Bob Roy (Slob Roy, bahaha). My mom went to a different stylist and place than my dad and I did. I went with my mom once to see Leia. Ever since that first time Leia cut my hair, I stuck with her. Leia is the best. I live in Boston now and I don't let anyone else touch my hair besides Leia. So it is a treat when I go back to visit. I came here for the first time a few weeks ago after moving back to the Redondo area. I was completely out of touch with salons, and decided to give it a try. It was busy! I like busy. People chatting, lots of cute hair, friendly staff. The decor is really cool and pretty swanky, while still remaining unpretentious. My stylist was really nice and seemed to be knowledgeable. Here's where we lose stars. I do not like my cut. Now - this is subjective. It's just not done how I like it, and the two sides don't match each other. I feel like this is a basic thing when it comes to cutting hair. My other star comes from the fact that it was $65. Now ladies - I know this is standard and believe me, I don't mind paying this price for a good haircut. But in my opinion, I didn't get a good cut. Now don't get me wrong - I'm still toying with going back. I think with more direction, I could get a good cut out of this place. But should one have to work so hard for it? Leia is AMAZING! I started seeing her about 6-7 years ago, when I came in with overly bleached, straw, chemically cut hair and she did such an amazing job bringing it back to life! After that experience, I went to her regularly. Since I'm mixed, I have naturally very kinky-curly hair and it has an unusual texture, so stylists wrecked my hair because they had no idea what they were doing. Unlike any stylist I've had (obviously), she revived my hair and then kept my hair healthy through LOTS of coloring and chemical straightening. She has the greatest personality and she really goes out of her way for her clients. And her cuts and colors are hot :) I have referred MANY friends to her and they love her too. I am writing this review based on the hair stylist Raphael, for he is the only one I've been going to at this salon for the past 6 years. I am now finally getting around to write a review for his great service throughout the years. I first came here in 2005 because I worked in the plaza next door. I came with cash and forgot to pull out enough money for the appointment and my debit card was at home in another wallet. DOH! I felt so bad because I only had $95 in my wallet and I knew what I wanted was very labor intensive and time consuming. He insisted that it was ok and he would give me what I wanted with the little money I had. I have very dark, thick, coarse hair and I wanted to be a highlighted blonde. Every stylist I have gone to previously always gives me the run around about not going that light blah blah, but the bottom line is I want what I want. To be honest, I think all the previous stylists were just lazy because I have a lot of hair. But, Raphael was up for the challenge! He took my dark hair and added a two color highlight with a base color and the result was amazing! It took him 4 hours to complete this masterpiece. I fell in love. The amount of product and the labor should have cost well over $95 and that's not including tip. I made sure to tip him extra the next time I went knowing that I would definately be back! I have had my hair a few different colors since then all done by Raphel. My hair is now back to it's natural color and I continue to go to Raphael for my haircuts. He is the only stylist I trust with cutting my hair. He trims it wet then thins it out when it's dry making my thick coarse hair much more managable. Throughout the years I have received so many compliments on my hair and I am constantly referring people to him when they ask for my stylists contact info. read more

Came here a couple weeks ago to get my hair cut and styled for a wedding. My hair is thin and fine and I didn't want an updo but getting my hair to hold any kind of style/curl is a big pain. I saw Zayna and she really did a beautiful job on both the cut and style. Used a combo of products and curled up my hair so that the style held all night but wasn't stiff or crunchy. This review is long overdue - I've been going to Lush for over a year now. My stylist is Susan Reichel and she is great - truly. I have super thick hair and have suffered many a bad hair cut in my day but not with Susan. She knows what she's doing and is confident about the way she approaches my hair. She understands that thick hair needs shaping and texturizing in order to not look like a poof ball. She's also good with color. The salon itself is cute - Morrocan decor, wine bar.. honestly though I could care less about the atmosphere. It's Susan's talent that keeps me coming back. read more

I've had my hair done by Angela, and she did a really nice job. I've received several complements which is always a good sign. She really listened to what I wanted and didn't rush. She tells me if she thinks something will work or not. She keeps my color fresh, natural and makes tweaks when needed. She always gets it right!
