They had no availability for us to extend our stay but she and her staff worked to make sure we had lovely accommodations elsewhere on night 2. While we were there, everything was perfect. Need ice? Delivered in an instant. Dinner and breakfast in their dining room ( more beautiful views) were delicious. We recommend this hotel highly...on a scale of 1-10, definitely a 10!. Mo and her staff are superb at making you feel welcome and very well taken care of. Only regret, despite our wonderful alternate accommodations, we wish we could have spen two nights at this great guesthouse.

We were able to find a table outside, and even though the wait staff were apologizing to others about the long wait due to a popular evening, we did not find the wait unusually long compared to restaurants where we live. everybody found something delicious on the menu, and the selection of drinks and beer were delightful. I must say, the bartender earlier did apologize for not having a "proper ale", which we learned would be something that would be a flat ale and not fizzy like the typical IPAs that are enjoyed in the hundreds of breweries nearby us. everybody ate every morsel on their plate, and we have picky eaters! he was also a bountiful desert selection, and we couldn't pass that up. MOST IMPORTANTLY, Carusoe had one of the nicest managers I have ever met in a restaurant anywhere. it was the end of the evening, and our rental car was having issues. Issues meaning, the battery died for no apparent reason at all. The rental agency said it would be four hours before somebody could come out and help us.. meanwhile, we asked Katie, the manager this evening to help us jump our car and she immediately volunteered to help, and was witty and knowledgeable, having done this before. I must say, it involved a bit of trickery to get it to finally work, but we were able to get the car started and get back to our accommodations within a half an hour thanks to her. It says something about a place by the people who work there. I would recommend Carusos to anyone, and most importantly, tell Katie we said "Hi!" if you ever get out there.

I just returned from a November visit to this resort. I read before my trip some negative reviews…read moreon some other review sites, so I want to provide a different perspective. I majority of the reviews I read about this resort concerned the drafty cottages and the cost of electricity. Obviously November gave us our share of cold weather, and I am happy to say that our cottage was very comfortable. The cottage was freezing when we arrived, but the staff member who showed us around showed us where the radiators were and how to control them as well as providing advice on running them economically. The unit heated up very quickly. The extra cost for electricity at the end of the week was about £50 which was much less than the amounts suggested by other reviewers. We ate at the cottage at least 1 cooked meal per day and kept the cottage comfortably warm. The furniture and layout of the cottage was very nice and provides good accommodation for up to 3 couples. We only ate at the Linsey room 1 night but the experience was very good and I will enjoy memories of that evening for a long time to come. When we made reservations for the meal we were told that we would be seated at a table with other people. When we got there it was a banquet table with about 25 others. The atmosphere was good and we were encouraged to meet other guests. The food was good and then to our surprise an entertainer showed up. The person was a very good singer, singing traditional Scottish tunes as well as being quite the comedian. I may not have signed up for this event if I had known all that was involved, but I can tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Over all this resort was wonderful, and provided us with an extremely relaxing holiday. If I could change anything I would ask that the resort provide a few condiments in the kitchen. Overall I highly recommend this resort.

The only staff member that has helped us is Ashlee the front desk, girl. When I first called about my son who got a bug bite and it was swelling up really bad and we needed help. The concierge told me that there was no one here to help us and that we could attempt to take him to the emergency room but because we were from out of the country, they probably wouldn't see us. I am so glad I called back and got Ashlee the front desk girl because she is actually a nurse. She came to our room, examined the bites, cleaned them and then wrapped them and sent us to the emergency room where we were completely taken care of without any charge! I do not know why the concierge would have not helped us and gave us more to worry about when we were already stressed out. We also received a $250 smoking charge letter because the housekeeping saw My Husband's cigars and smoking stuff out when he was leaving to go play golf he got his stuff out to take his cigars with him. I took my two year-old son for breakfast and came back to only my bed being made in my room and with a letter under my door stating that we had smoked in our room and we were being charged $250. I called the front desk, asked to speak to a manager and was told that they would call me right back. I had to call three times and wait for two hours before anyone even called me. I am now in my room, waiting for the management to contact housekeeping to see if the charge will be reversed. I find this extremely frustrating, considering how much money we have paid to stay here. I also feel that the rooms are outdated and rundown compared to all the other Fairmont I have stayed in.!

For single occupancy I think you pay from £210 upwards. it's outrageous that single people are always charged more. As we have the money.... When dining you are being served with gallant mannerism ensuring that your needs are being met satisfactory. The food is very tasty and delicious, but take into account that if you eat in the a la cart restaurant you might be hit by a higher than £50 bill charge per person. So be prepared! The menu changes, such expect to get something different another time around. If you want to spoil your other half - then do! There is no doubt that because of its prestigious and expensive existence this place might only be affordable for special occasions or if you are not hit by recession. But if you are able to go there, enjoy the tranquillity that it has to offer. I know I will be back soon for Afternoon Tea, which is around £18.50 and therefore "just" affordable.

We started with the oyster pair (HUGE oysters, very creamy), deer tartare - couldn't get through one bite of it and Pig's Head on Toast. Appetizers were not a good sign for the rest of the dinner. However the tomahawk steak was pretty good, lobster was overcooked. Soufflé was pretty good. Would give it a higher rating if not for the food. I think you really come here for the views, the putting green overlooking the 18th on the balcony, some gorgeous views vs. the food.
