This was my first time getting lashes. I chose this salon because I live right down the street and…read morewanted to support a local business. I had made my appointment for a classic set but when I got there they told me that most people end up wishing they had gone with hybrid so I said alright, that's fine. Nobody offered to show me what the difference looks like, etc., but to be fair, I also didn't ask. My appointment was with Sydney. She was a little cold and made me feel silly for asking questions (though I'm sure it wasn't intentional). When we were done, she handed me a very broken mirror to look at my lashes. I was surprised and disappointed by the outcome. I told her they were really extreme compared to what I was looking for and she literally shrugged and shook her head. I asked if there was anything we could do to them to make them less huge and it was a definitive no. I asked if there was a way I'd be able to remove them later at home and again, definitive no. She said only they could remove them (which I've since found out isn't true at all). I wavered for a minute with if I wanted them to just remove them then or not and everyone just stared at me. Sydney made sure I understood I'd still have to pay for the lashes (obviously) but that her boss said they could remove them for free this time. I decided to keep them on so I could think about them and get opinions from other people. I was given no aftercare instructions or direction other than wiping them with micellar water. She said she'd give me a lash brush too but never did. Overall this was a really disappointing and frustrating experience. It's been only 4 days and the extensions are falling out left and right... not attached to real lashes that are naturally shedding... just clumps of fake lashes alone. The lashes all are drooping and in my line of vision. Is this normal? Well I have no idea because they didn't tell me. I wouldn't go out of my way to say "avoid this place" as I don't yet have another experience to compare it to, but I will not recommend them either.

I now know to contact her beforehand if I think there may be any issues i.e. if I had to get an emergency fill else where, less than 40% of my lashes left before coming in for a fill (she may need extra time for situations like this), both of which happened to me. I was really happy with the conversations I had back-and-forth with Jacki who manages the accounts. She always responded right away with all the information I requested. Their prices are reasonable and their team is excellent. I was able to schedule a hair and make up trial in Braintree about a month and a half prior to my wedding. I was so happy with my results. My make up and hair artist was Noelle. She is absolutely incredible. Jacki gave me Noelle because she said she specializes in braids and I knew I wanted my bridesmaids and I to have braids in our hair on the day. Very bohemian look. I'd originally planned to go with another company, but my trial with them was absolutely terrible and I needed to find someone else, fast. I'd been recommended to call Special Event Beauty, and they got me in the very next afternoon on a Sunday for my trial. I know the ladies had to rush around to make it work, and I can't them them enough for that! Maryanne and Rachel came to The Groton Inn to do the hair and makeup of myself (the bride), my bridesmaids, my mother and soon to be mother-in-law. They showed up promptly, and even worked quickly with the inn to get a few taller chairs in our room to make their jobs easier. Everyone had a wonderful time with both of them, chatting and sharing a lot of laughs. It was the first time a few of them had ever had their hair and makeup done by someone else, and they put them at ease. Everyone loved the end results (including myself, after a bunch of little changes the day of - which they were both so wonderful about and didn't make me feel badly for being so indecisive in the moment) and I loved working with them both - I hope that I get to do it again sometime in the future - you know, for someone else's wedding ;)
