Now I can admit that my view is biased. We had bad service and bad food. We set a VIP reservation and had to wait 1 hour after the reservation to be able to bowl. We were told we would get our own server (nice!). But that didn't happen. The 2-3 servers were so enmeshed with the birthday party in the other half of the VIP room that they basically forgot we existed. They got our drinks--delivered 45 minutes later. Got our food order--came out right before our timer ended. The experience was not enjoyed. But looking around--I think everyone felt that way. From the customers to servers, and management...just everyone having a negative experience. If you wish to go just for the arcade games or laser tag I think you'll be ok. But I'd pass on the bowling and food.

Then she comes in and starts counting her drawer (ok, no worries), then I said when you're done can I get a lane? They're $5, right? She said they're not. So I wait for her to finish counting her drawer. Another customer comes in and she starts helping her??!? Keep in mind there is one family bowling, myself and the lady that just walked in . . . I had to show her the poster hanging on the wall that advertises $5 of bowling for an hour and told her it in their website. She kept saying that it's suppose to come off the internet. Well, she can take it off the wall. After all that, she gave it to me for $5 an hour. Would've gave more stars, but the customer service was horrible. The bowling alley is nice and well-kept.

The CIAA Bowling Tournament was held at B&B Bowling Lanes last weekend and I was very excited to go…read moreand support my daughter, who's on the Virginia State University (VSU) Bowling Team. I arrived on Saturday morning around 8am and it was already packed with the bowling teams and their families so I found a nearby chair along the wall to sit and watch the teams bowl. The huge, digital display above the pins made it easy for everyone to keep track of the scores and whenever there were any issues, the staff would come and quickly resolve the problem. Even though the tournament was going on, they still offered lanes at the other end of the bowling alley for people to come in and bowl leisurely, which I thought was very nice. VSU bowled very well and ended up being awarded First Place in the Northern Division. My daughter was awarded Highest Scorer in the Northern Division as well. It was a phenomenal weekend and I'm so glad I was able to attend.

Bowling review: I like the scoring system (you can pick a fun theme background for behind the score…read moregrid) and it was cool to play team vs team (3 on 3) where the system rotated everyone between two lanes and showed team scores as well as individual scores. We played two games and it even showed the total team scores for both games. We had a problem with one lane being extremely slow to return balls (they would bounce around behind the pins) sometimes taking three or four player turns for a ball to come back. Those of us using house balls had to have a second ball instead of waiting. I also liked that they have house bowling shoes that Velcro on. I've always hated bowling shoe laces that cut into my hand. I also like the colorful bowling theme backgrounds above the lanes and they must look awesome on Friday and Saturday nights for cosmic black light bowling. If you need the pro shop, the pro shop guy also works the lanes front desk, so check for him there if the pro shop is closed. My friends got some of their balls redrilled quickly and easily.
