I think Dr. Dunn's ultimate goal is to have a family friendly long term practice in the heart of Crestline. That kind of commitment to the community and patients is what I seek from all of my health care providers. I also seek an honest ethical doctor who has my best interest at heart. Example: today I had significant pain and swelling around one of my upper molars. I have never had any issues with my teeth and was quite concerned. I called the office first thing this morning and they immediately worked me in. Numerous possibilities were going through my head. Had I cracked a tooth? Did I need a root canal? Was a crown necessary and if so, how much would that cost me. After an x-ray and assessment Dr. Dunn found the root of my pain and problem. A popcorn kernel. A popcorn kernel was lodged in my gum. He asked me what I had done this weekend and there was the answer to my pain and swelling...my 7 year old daughter's birthday party. Movies and popcorn for 35 first grade girls had taken it toll. My primary point is that he could have completed numerous procedures and charged me and/or my insurance company countless dollars, but he didn't. He skillfully removed the culprit, irrigated and sent me home with "post procedure" instructions. $20 copay and 5 minutes later, I am one very happy patient. However he retired and I moved to Birmingham. I was putting off looking for a new dentist because they are often hard to trust and I feel try to do more work then needed. But, I needed a dentist ASAP because by I cracked my front tooth! I called the next morning and they were able to get me in same day. I was in and out quick, he gave me a great consult and did not overcharge -even undercharged- he also did not do more work to my tooth than necessary. Short story: one of my best dental experiences ever…read more Being new to the area, I didn't have many personal recommendations, so I went on yelp, Google and my insurance website. I found another dentist and got a lot of work done on my teeth. Since I don't have a dental degree, I generally trust what dentists tell me I should do. I ended up in Dr. Cosgrove's office after all this work and immediately wished I had started here. The staff was kind and went out of their way to explain my insurance coverage and costs before I visited. Dr. Cosgrove took the time to explain the risks and benefits of the treatment he suggested. He did most if not all of the work himself, undercharged me for work he performed, and conversed in a very down to earth way with everyone he interacted with. I think I will switch to his practice: I was very impressed.

I have depression and it caused me to not take the best care of myself for a couple years. I've been pretty embarrassed about it and hesitant to go to the doctor or dentist. As soon as I walked into the office I was greeted by the friendliest receptionist. She was so knowledgeable about what my insurance covers and payment plans. The hygienist was the star of the show! She explained what issues I was facing in regards to my teeth but did so in a way that didn't feel overwhelming or cause me to feel embarrassed. She gave me practical tips on how to take better care of my teeth and thoroughly explained each step and process before and during anything she did. Dr. Abrahante was the kindest, sweetest soul! He had the biggest smile on his face the entire time we talked. He was so personable and intelligent, I was blown away! After explaining to both the hygienist and Dr. Abrahante that I suffer from depression and it caused me to not take care of myself like i should have, they both expressed how proud of me they were for taking the necessary steps now. When you suffer from poor mental health, it's hard to find doctors/dentists/professionals that truly understand the toll it takes on you and how hard it can be to even make an appointment. I felt like the staff here really cared about me and are willing to do everything and anything to get me back healthy and happy. You never know how your kindness can affect someone struggling and i think it's so important and amazing to remember that. So thankful over the mountain dentistry does! Can't wait to go back! :)
