The owner was then called and they stated, "nothing can be done." One of the employees could tell I was frustrated and then offered one of their grooming leashes which is for a small dog and would not be appropriate for our 90 pound GSD. I just thought it was interesting that "nothing could be done" for a customer that has been going there for years and has used both their boarding and grooming services without any prior issues, has referred plenty of customers to their business, and made sure to warn them prior to the appointment but the staff failed to pass the message along.

This is especially helpful when we have to travel and he has an extended stay at Camp. We still miss him, of course, but we can rest easy knowing that he has the best of care while we're away. We can also set up some one-on-one playtime as an extra treat (just him and a counselor) or try out their new peanut butter Picasso puppy paintings! The availability of basic grooming on-site is an added bonus. We used to take Bucky to a popular pet chain for grooming, but now we just get him a puppy spa day as we like to call it - a full day of play followed by a nail trim, teeth cleaning, a bath, and some fresh cologne (typically blueberry or lavender). On the puppy parent side of the house, the staff and counselors are always very courteous, kind, polite, and helpful! We have never had a negative interaction or experience at Camp Bow Wow. They keep us apprised of Bucky's behavior and let us know if an illness is spreading in the community (whether or not it has impacted any campers yet). This is especially helpful when Bucky needs a vet visit, as it provides a more holistic picture for us to relay. We dropped off our young Lagotto Romagnolo puppy calm, gentle, and well-behaved. We picked him up a day early because of growing concerns, and he came home extremely overstimulated, difficult to manage, and seemingly very hungry. We monitored the facility cameras during his stay and were deeply concerned by what we saw. There appeared to be very little structure or meaningful engagement, and at times it looked like roughly 30 dogs were being monitored by only one staff member. We sent THREE large containers of food. TWO CAME BACK. When we got our puppy home, he immediately ate an unusually large bowl of food. That raised serious concerns for us about whether he had been fed according to our instructions. We also paid for a bath before pickup. THE BATH WAS NEVER DONE. When we contacted management, we felt our concerns were essentially dismissed, and we were told that everything had been completed as required. That simply did not match our experience. The bath was not done. Most of his food came back. Our puppy appeared extremely hungry. His behavior was dramatically different. And what we observed on camera raised serious concerns about supervision and structure. We trusted this facility with a young puppy who depends entirely on the people caring for him. Based on what we experienced, that trust is gone. We will never return. We are also reporting our concerns to Howard County Animal Control and requesting that the facility be reviewed as appropriate. This was all because they refused to authorize a prescription to renew heart worm medication for our girl without an office visit. The visit was routine since it all needed to be done anyway. If we had known before we went this time what we know now, we would never have gone. We're looking for a new vet now. We're done with Countryside. If you find a good one, cherish them. They said they gave her a probiotic to help her poop but I'm beginning to think she couldn't poop because she hadn't eaten. During her stay, she lost 1 pound and for a dog that wasn't quite 8 pounds, this is extremely dangerous. Also, when we picked her up at noon, they said she hadn't had her morning walk. Who doesn't walk a dog in the morning? Another thing that is not acceptable is the fact that they made changes from day camp to 1-1 time, so my dog was left alone for most of the day. They made these changes without contacting me or the emergency contact. They barely made an attempt to socialize with my dog, did not take her for walks, lost/misplaced her food and bed, and gave her a probiotic without any consultation or approval. On top of everything, they charged me more than what was expected and now I have to take my dog to the vet because something happened while she was there and after speaking with the veterinarian, they need to see her as soon as possible. I will never take my dog here, again, and will tell everyone to stay away from this place.

We've never had a problem and have be accommodated at very short notice when we want to go away for the weekend. I highly recommend this company. 1/27/20 Update: Just used them again during a ten day trip to Hawaii. I'm pretty sure our birds are in love with Alex, who came for most oF the visits.
