This review is long overdue, so sorry Lulan! I thought about what to say many times and was at a loss for words, then life happened... I was very specific in the style of photography I wanted for my wedding day and looked up every photographer in the area. I CANNOT stress how important it is to find a wedding/engagement photographer you mesh with. Story time. We had two engagement shoots with two different studios. My wife is from SD. I'm from the Bay Area. We wanted to take engagement photos at both locations and hire a local photographer each time. Our Bay Area photographer boasted a great portfolio, but the whole experience working with them was aggravating due to empty promises and a lack of professionalism. They rescheduled on us a few days prior to the shoot as they somehow forgot that a wedding was already on their calendar that day. They didn't text us the address of the shoot until the day of. They showed up 15 minutes late AND ended the shoot an hour early. They promised to play music and bring some alcohol to get us to loosen up for the shoot. This did not happen. We also felt that they spent a considerable amount of time on their phone researching poses. Finally, they said photos would be completed in 3 weeks. We waited over 6 weeks to receive our photos... In contrast, Lulan was a dream to work with! They were organized and professional. Our original photographer had to cancel due to maternity leave, but she quickly assigned a replacement photographer (Luyi). Luyi was fantastic! We had a few calls to touch base and discuss exactly what we wanted. On the day of our shoot, we arrived 15 mins early only to discover that Luyi was already there waiting for us. Apparently, she arrived early enough to scope out the location and also set up a picnic scene. Moreover, she spent time the night prior BAKING A CAKE FOR OUR SHOOT! We appreciate that Luyi helped us feel more comfortable and less awkward while taking these photos. She was always reassuring. Her instructions were clear. And we love that she came prepared with several poses in mind, but also worked off the cuff when she felt another spark of creativity. Luyi promised photos in 3 weeks. She actually completed editing some photos that night. Everything was done in 2 weeks. We loved the photos and appreciated Luyi's professionalism. The whole experience brought us peace of mind knowing that Luyi was the right person for our wedding photographer. We'll recommend Lulan Studio to anyone looking for a photographer. read more

We cannot say enough amazing things about Lulan Studio! Lulan was our photographer for the big day. We also added the videography package and were over the moon when we saw the footage. Lulan and his team arrived on time and immediately began shooting and filming candid moments of the bridal party getting ready. He got a ton of photos both traditional and creative. He also listened to my feedback and requests as far as wanting a lot of candid moments, as well as a few photos edited in film style. Our photos are simply breathtaking. The venue, The Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort, was so impressed by them that they requested a release form to use them for their wedding advertisements. I cannot explain the number of compliments we've received on our photos and wedding video! If you are in the Los Angeles area, you must must go with Lulan Studio. I'm embarrassed it has taken me so long to write this review, especially since I had the most magical experience with both the Lulan Studio and my photographer, Luyi Zhao. Where do I begin...every bride knows the photographs are crucial to having a successful wedding so when I started researching I found this studio and was impressed with the reviews. I can now confirm they are all true. My initial conversation was with Lulan himself and we talked for 45 minutes! He's truly a master of his craft...just look at his awards and work. He told me that he would set me up with one of his star photographers, Luyi. I spoke with her a few times before the wedding and answered all of her questions as she wanted to make sure my big day was perfect. Luyi arrived early, prepared, and I must say that the entire wedding party was equally obsessed with her. She took every shot imaginable, ensuring that my wedding photo book would be nothing short of spectacular. She made everyone smile and truly made my wedding more special. Lulan came highly recommended to us by a close friend of ours whose wedding he had photographed last year. We were initially a bit hesitant as we weren't sure if Lulan knew South Indian wedding customs well enough to be able to capture the important moments. However, from our initial conversations, it became apparent that Lulan was deeply interested in understanding our culture and ensuring that our wedding photos would be memorable. We also looked through his portfolio and fell in love with his photography style. As a result, Lulan ended up being the first vendor that we booked for our wedding. Amidst all the stresses leading up to the day of the wedding, working with Lulan was a pleasure and his professionalism and intelligence shone through in all our interactions. We must mention here that Lulan became a dad to a newborn just a few days before the wedding. Once we got to know about it, we told him that we'd fully understand if he decided to spend time with his baby and sent the rest of his lead photography team to cover the wedding. However, he assured us that he would be there for the entire day along with his other leads as he'd already promised us earlier. We were blown away by his dedication at this point. Needless to say, Lulan and his team exceeded our expectations at the wedding. On the day of the wedding, Lulan, Katerina, and Alli were there on time at 6:00 am and ready to go. Given that we had a traditional Indian wedding, which tends to be about 6-7 hours, the team was very patient and respectful throughout the process. They were very cooperative and adaptable to changes to the timeline during our wedding. Lulan always had a smile on and helped us feel calm amidst any wedding chaos. His team also went above and beyond and would fix my hair or my dress for the photos as needed. For the reception later that evening, they were again full of energy even though they'd had a long day by then. They made sure to capture everything beginning with the getting ready shots of the bride and groom all the way till the song and dance performances and the open dance floor at the end of the reception. They were also always available to take a group picture of our guests if they were requested to do so. The day after our wedding, we lost count of how many of our guests reached out to let us know that our photographer was amazing! Their passion for photography was never more obvious than when we saw the final pictures. They had captured over 8,000 pictures across the wedding and reception and the team gave us around 3,000 pictures that they processed and edited and didn't miss one single moment. The pictures were fabulous and everyone who's seen them till now can't stop raving about them, and we couldn't be happier for hiring Lulan and trusting him and his team with our special day. We found Lulan Studio because my husband was looking through our venue's instagram page and found a photo he loved that was taken by one of their photographers. The cinematic and photojournalistic style was exactly what we were looking for, and knew we found our photographer when we went to their website. The communication leading up to the wedding was always very quick and responsive. Alli was our photographer, and I cannot express enough how absolutely wonderful she was. Not only is she phenomenal at what she does and her work obviously speaks for itself, but she made the whole day fun and I always felt her looking out for us. When my veil kept coming off as I walked down the aisle, I was just going to forget it in the moment so I didn't have to deal with it. When I got to the front, I felt someone securing it in the back of my hair. At the time, I thought it was my mother-in-law since I had given it to her, but later I was told Alli said that I would regret it, and she put it on for me.
