I didn't really have any idea on a shoot location so when Andy knew about Laguna Beach and all the nooks and crannies of it that reassured me tremendously. I got to pick two looks for my engagement shoot and Andy was able to capture so well and make it young fun and elegant dreamy. Initially I saw Andy's work and thought wow I would love for him to be our photographer... but little did I know when the wedding day came around, he did not even show, he had sent his assistant TK when he had literately the week prior doing our engagement shoot that he would be there! I kid you not we got our engagement photos done with him tooo and all Andy can rant about is how rich he is and how he only dines at 5 star restaurants and flies to vegas with his "gf" for a quick sushi dinner or something.... THeN he started to INSULT ME IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE!!! Telling me that I didn't wear enough make up, that he was so shocked that I didn't bring cute enough outfits, that we are not posing well and are not so photogenic like. Then also telling us how we are not so graceful at all that we take bad photos and don't know how to take pictures. And the list can go on.... Then photos on the day of our wedding day came out like crap! they had mentioned that we're (just not photogenic, or the lighting issue) and they even blamed it on the venue when they clearly had done several shoots at the same venue. So wow shocker! We still have not yet received our wedding album, been what couple years almost now? Also their communication is purely through emails, never a phone call or prompt responses returned to us. Andy and team are so much fun to work with! Not to mention the amazing photos they take! Andy is truly world-class caliber, and he has the credentials to back it up. What's the date today? Oh, is it 9/5/2013? Boy, does time fly because our wedding was on 9/1/2012. So, it's been a little over a year since our wedding and I JUST PICKED UP OUR WEDDING ALBUM AND PHOTOS TODAY. This is about 6 MONTHS PAST the original promised date for our wedding photos ... which deserves it's own special paragraph. I feel like Andy & team didn't even start working on our album and touching up our photos until I emailed them to find out the status of our pics - WTF. I didn't hear from anyone from Andy's office UNTIL I contacted them myself - both for the photo proofs and the albums. On to the wedding photos. If I wanted an S-ton of photos of my house, I would've hired the real estate broker to take them. If I wanted to sell my house, then I'd want an S-ton of photos of it. But when the wedding proofs arrived, there were tons of pics of our house (where my bridesmaids and I got ready), including exterior photos of it and pics of our DOG COOKIE JAR. How is this relevant to my wedding? There was even a photo of our Xmas greeting card that we sent out a year before. Again, tell me how this relates to my wedding? Does this have some kind of artistic value? Is this a fine arts photography class? Amateur or experimental photog hour? I don't think so. The photos captured our wedding day, but that's all it did. Many of the pics were shot at an angle/tilted, and I couldn't figure out how this made the photo look better. The main photographer during the day was a young woman. I don't remember her name. I also wish she had fixed a lot of the spacing for our wedding party photos, but nope - she just left us poorly spaced and shot lots of pics at an angle. When we arrived at the reception site, there were pics of the Chinese porcelain vases and restaurant decor - did I say I wanted shots of the restaurant's interior design? No. That's not what I paid for. In summary, yes Andy Seo is affordable and cheap, but I would not recommend this place to my friends. The good rumors are true. Color Box DOES take gorgeous pictures. Then again, the bad rumors are true, too. Color Box DOES take gorgeous pictures that look like everyone else's. Okay, so I'm not married, but I've been a bridesmaid a number of times, and on a fair many occasions, I've ended up at Color Box. Why? Because it's popular, that's why. They take really nice, vibrant pictures, and do some wonderful photography + photoshopping to make each and every bride look wonderful. Freudian slip. Bride, did I say? Yes, of course I said bride! If you look through the galleys, you will notice that 99.9% of the pictures focus on the bride. I suppose that's all fine and dandy, but I think wedding photos should be mostly of the COUPLE, not of the bride facing the camera while the groom's face is turned elsewhere. But then, I guess that's just personal preference. Regardless, gorgeous photos with wonderful colors. Except Lailah Y is right. Everyone else has the same photos. They aren't very imaginative when it comes to location and/or poses. It's like a cookie cutter system. They found a few places that work, and they use it every single time. Lack of creativity perhaps? Or is it just plain laziness? I do not know. Yes, they have quick turnaround time, they have good prices (it may seem pricey at first, but you can do a LOT of negotiating and trade-offs if you've got any skills in bargaining), and in the end, even though your pics look like everyone else's, it doesn't diminish the fact that they still look great. read more

I found this place through a friend. And although the things said about pictures being taken at the same places, and same poses are true, I'm not sure why or how that is a problem. The photos turn out beautiful and that is what I want. I don't mind that my Louis Vuittons look like everyone else's, it's the quality that matters! I had Andy for my engagement shots and he is amazing! He is super patient in the sense that he will keep taking pictures to ensure a lot of good shots. He is funny and gives a lot of directions but I do have a warning. He is serious about what he does and he doesn't stop till he gets the job done! He doesn't hold back so if you are sensitive, bring your thick skin. The package I got for my wedding included an engagement shoot which included a recommended 7 outfit change session. We shot on the street, subway, Getty museum and Topanga Canyon. We changed several times and didn't stop for lunch or rest break. So I have a few tips that you should heed: When you are told to take snacks, LISTEN!!!! Take some friggin snacks! Well, that is if you are use to any type of meal schedule. And take water, lots and lots of water! He keeps you hustling the whole time! If he tells you that there is a 6 hour shoot. That is the minimum and he does not stop for breaks. Make some sandwiches and pack some fruit and keep it with you because you will be eating in the car as you are driving from location to location. And pack some comfortable flats or walking shoes. He hikes you all over the place. So as you are going from place to place to set up for shots, you might be hoofin it. And lastly, is you are not based out of L.A. (like me) and you have to drive up for a photo shoot (he is driving to San Diego for my wedding pics) then get a room for the night after because you will be friggin exhausted!!! The shoot went from noon until we were hiking back out of Topanga Canyon at 8:30pm! I didn't make it back to Dago until after 1 am! Otherwise, this place is definite go! read more

Hands-down one of the only stress-free vendors for our wedding!! :) I couldn't be happier my make-up artist Grace Lin (brides-to-be, please look her up!) highly recommended me to his team. Andy is very artsy, professional and we ADORE his taste and talent. After inquiring some price and other questions, we hired him to take both our engagement and wedding photos. Soooo, we only get to get married once, right? and for perfect brizillas like myself, I would want to look the best in photos and Andy and his team were certainly aware of that and Andy scheduled a 1-2 hour meeting prior to our engagement session to go over what kind of outfits we should wear with our selected locations, not to mention, how to pose in photos especially for gals that are not so skinny like myself... boy, I don't even remember how long the session lasted because we were having a great time chatting and sipping tea! :) All that sweet gestures of Andy and his inspirations I saw from his art works once proved me that we had made the right choice on selecting our photog! We hired Andy Seo Photography for our wedding last year. We couldn't have been happier with our choice! The pictures looked great, and the price was very reasonable for the quality. The pictures have an artistic touch, but are clean and simple. We saw a lot of other (more expensive) photographers that used special lenses for artistic effect, resulting in pictures that were artistic but not very clear. Andy's pictures are clean and clear, and really bring you back to the moment. He has a great eye to pick out angles and places to shoot, and makes effective use of lighting. Andy did my wedding photos and they came out absolutely GORGEOUS. He really knows how to capture the right moments and knows how to work with nervous brides. His side comments kept us cracking up all throughout the day and when I was exhausted from the hours of shooting (right before the wedding) he excused me and my bridesmaids to go rest. Right when I saw Andy's website, I knew I wanted him as our wedding photographer. We scheduled a meeting and we booked him right away as our engagement and wedding photographer. Andy is really funny and awesome to work with. He always kept me laughing with his comments. The engagement photoshoot ran from 11ish AM to 6ish PM. Andy drove us all around LA. We knew a few locations we wanted to shoot at, and when we didn't--Andy took us to places he liked. At the end of the day, Andy admitted that this was a long shoot. Apparently engagement shoots only last around 4 hours lol. Oops! During our wedding, Andy arrived early and started taking photos of the church. He stayed with us the whole time and was considerate of certain photos we wanted to take. The only reason why I'm giving Andy 4 stars instead of 5 was because it took a lonnnnggggggg time for us to receive our wedding photos. We received the proofs on our 2 month wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, the wedding high is already gone and we've settled into real life. Although seeing our wedding photos was wonderful, it would've probably been more exciting to see them while the wedding was still fresh. Absolutely LOVED working with Andy and his team. We got our engagement and wedding photos done by them and they came out above our expectations. We were shot by Andy for our engagement photos and it was SO much fun! He made us feel at ease and didn't force us to do any cheesy or cookie-cutter poses. I had my wedding in February 2017, and I'm finally writing this review! My friend introduced me to andyseo studio and I had them take my engagement and wedding photoshoot.. and that was one of the best decisions I've made for my wedding! Our engagement photo shoot lasted almost 9 hours and Andy did almost everything he could possibly do to make our day memorable. He drove us to all these beautiful places and made sure we really enjoyed our photo shoot. For our wedding, we were only supposed to have one photographer, but Andy sent us two, which was very nice of him. We were 100% satisfied with our wedding photos as well. I would give 5 stars if I've got the same service from them like other times. Right, I went this place for my wedding pictures (total 3 sessions - casual engagement, formal outside, and the actual wedding day), and I was 100% satisfied! Although everyone else had the same posed, same style pictures, the Colorbox (their former name) offered the best quality pictures for their price. David (photographer) was so professional and nice, and the one of the owner Anna was good too! Most of all, I loved their warm atmosphere. Anyway, to make the story short, I brought few of my friends for wedding or their baby pictures because I loved their style and service. One of them even actually returned for their second child's picture, but she told me she was upset for their service. She said while the shootig, Andy just walked out and another guy came in for the rest of the session without asking nor any notice beforehand. The result was not what my friend had expected. I assumed that it might be just one time mistake because nobody's perfect. Then I took pictures of my baby here, and I say this is the last time with them. The main photographer/owner Andy was so cold throughout the whole session, and he didn't even say Hi, or Good bye when I went there to pick up my proof. The pictures came out ok, but not worth the money. Andy seemed he cared only about the customers of wedding event and the first time customers. The other owner Anna is still amazing and trys to give great service, but she cannot run a good business by herself since the nice attitude is one of the main key for this field of business. If they think the wedding is more profitable, and that's why they don't offer the same nice service to the other customers, they should give up other than wedding pictures. I guess they have forgotten how they got their good reputaion before, so they no longer care about customers' feeling. There are still few more friends who needs photographer for wedding or baby's 1st birthday party (this is one of the major life event for Korean) around me, but definately, I won't go back nor recommend this place to my friends. read more

I used Andy's photographers for a wedding about a year ago so I cannot report on his portrait work or other services. I have to be honest and state that Andy was not my first choice as a photographer, but I figured he could do a capable job of taking a wedding. I do have a background in photography so I did have some expectations that the standard customer may or may not have. My assessment is that there were large portions of the wedding missing, the pictures were unflattering (poor color profiles and composition), and the editing took an exceptionally long time. My wedding was in September and I did not get the photos until late December/early January. I ended up sending out the photos for editing myself, which I paid for out of my own pocket. Color Box (now andy seo photography) has been doing our family wedding photographs for a decade (4 siblings). I gotta say, Andy is the master. He's funny, friendly, and extremely talented. What these people say is true. He is forthright. if you're skinny, no problem, but if you're fat, then he will make you contort in ways so as you look 5 sizes smaller in pictures and he'll be up front about it. so don't feel bad, you'll love LOVE the results. Andy is the kind of guy you want to be friends with outside of the studio. I would invite him out to go clubbing with us if he didn't have a kid now. Anyway, there are so many horrible photogs that charge double what andy charges! i've seen some ugly UGLY photographs from other places... and when people tell me about it, they say... "oh this guy was famous... he charges a premium because he's so good". When I hear this, i feel like saying... "Girl!!! you got ripped offffff"... but i keep quiet. Koreans are KNOWN for their aesthetic sense, their cafes and shops in korea are far prettier than anything in the US, and even Andy's studio looks really nice and cute. Ever since Colorbox changed their name to Andy Seo photography, they seemed to have change it up a bit. Got photo sessions for my son 3 times now and I'm loving it more NOW than I did when it was Colorbox. The ppl who work there are the same and they're really great, nice ppl. They really are SO helpful with everything and am always appreciative when they try to do anything and everything to get my child to look into the camera and smile or what not. They're great with kids and Andy takes really good photos...I LOVE how these last pics came out!!!! read more

We hired Andy and his team for our engagement photo and wedding. Andy photographed our engagement session and Kwon did our wedding (since Andy was already booked). Pictures from both occasions came out beautiful. Both Andy and Kwon were true professionals and they really captured our special moments in the most flattering angles. Danny also helped us with the photo proofing process and was very responsive, he made the whole experience with Andy Seo (pronounced Suh, not S-e-o) Studio that much better. I know a lot of reviewers indicated Andy's team was not very creative in selecting their locations and poses, as the pictures they take for their clients all look similar. I had reservations in the beginning about hiring Andy and his team because of those reviews but in hind sight, I am so glad I hired Andy and his team. So what Andy takes his clients to the same locations? So what we all have the same poses? When I visited Andy's studio and saw the beautiful pictures he took for his clients, I wanted those very same poses, at those very same beautiful locations. It's not like all of Andy's clients are going to have a get together to compare their pictures from Andy. All I know is, I saw the pictures Andy took and I wanted them for my wedding! Those poses and locations are already PROVEN to yield great pictures, so why not? If you have a special location or creative pose in mind, let Andy know and he will capture them, beautifully (unless your pose is hmmmm... not too flattering... then, that's on you). We hired Andy and we got great pictures. I am so glad we got great pictures from our wedding because the video guy we hired was beyond horrendous (turned out to be an amateur posing as a pro... but that's another review for another day... good thing he's not on Yelp). We are very happy with Andy Seo Studio and we would recommend the Andy-Kwon-Danny "dream team" to anyone looking for professional photographers. read more

Andy took our engagement and wedding photos and we absolutely love them! I can't comment on how long the albums take to get back because frankly it's been 2 years and I am just sending him my album selection (completely my fault!!) His work was spectacular and I feel like he truly captured how romantic and wonderful our special day was! My fiancee and I were walking around one day and came across their office. We had a dispute with the first studio that was supposed to do our engagement pictures, and we were glad that Andy had availability. The pictures came out better than we had hoped. Andy was great at making us feel comfortable and he was great a giving instructions, so the pictures would come out wonderfully. In addition, he made it a point to proof our pictures for us within a couple days, so we could take them with us back to Colorado. I would highly recommend this photographer for engagement pictures!! read more

the wife and i got our engagement and wedding photos done by Andy and Kwon, respectively. btw, this review is long overdue; we've been married for a tad over 2 yrs. now. =) for the engagement photos, it was a gruelling 9 hour day w/ Andy at the helm, driving us all over LA, taking a million photos, and chatting w/ us the entire time. he was friendly, funny, professional and always in good spirits, even though we were all exhausted by the 8.5th hour. all we had to do was go along w/ the ride and endure the multiple outfit changes. for our wedding, we only had Kwon as our photographer. Kwon is a beast!! i don't even know if he had time to eat! he was all over the place, taking tons of great shots of the wedding. i was extremely impressed w/ how diligent he was for the entire time we had booked him. i can't compliment him enough. he even stayed a little later than scheduled to snap extra photos of the wedding party on the dance floor. (there was a delay in our wedding bc the caterer's truck broke down!) you know what? they even threw in an extra 16X24 (i think...) photo, free of charge. (which we negotiated at the time of signing the contract.) AND we also got another 32X24 photo bc it was a photo they were going to use for their studio but decided not to. so, instead of tossing it, they let us have it. finally, whenever i had questions, Andy and Kwon were always available to answer my questions, either by phone or email. they also kept us up to date w/ when our cd and album would be ready. we'll probably stop by after we have our first child to get some family pics done. thanks again, fellas! read more

Very professional photographer! Had our wedding pictures and my children's first years pictures with Andy. Must say he is really gifted as he made a fat guy look not so fat. He took us in remote locations for beautiful scenery and was able to time the sunset perfectly. Would recommend. read more

We had Andy for our engagement session. We spent a good portion of the day shooting. He got some great shots At The studio and helped us get comfortable in front of The camera. Then we went off to a few different locations. We were happy with our engagement photos and Used one of them for our invitation. We had Daniel for our wedding day. We love the photos. He captured all of the Details we spent so much time and energy on. The hard part now is choosing what photos we want because There are So many good ones to choose from. There was one important family photo that I wasn't Completely satisfied with (one persons eyes were closed). Daniel found another shot that was better and sent it to me right away. I used Andy's studio for our wedding day in 2011 and just getting to the review now since I procrastinated with my album selection. The experience from beginning to end was very pleasant. We skipped the traditional engagement shoot since we had a destination wedding, and Andy actually photographed us before our wedding day, which was very much a bonus. He and his whole team are very patient and communicative. He does ask what kind of style and poses we like, so I advise all brides to speak up if you have any of your own ideas. We took lots of photos. In selecting pictures for our portraits they offered to do touch-ups before finalizing, and they never made me feel bad for taking so long in working on my album. Our wedding pictures came out awful, and they were too busy blaming on the venue and (I guess) us not being photogenic. I don't have any pictures of family members as he was too busy taking pictures of random guests that were not even that close to us! The pictures that my brother took came out better, and those are the only pictures we really saved in our wedding album. Awful. read more

What a rip off.. This place asking way too much price very very expensive. Not worth it at all..don't recommend this place and sunset studio also sucks never go there. Seriously what's up with these studio who don't know how to take a picture and charge so much.. read more
