Having fruitlessly tried the library, I found this little shop will send faxes for you. They sell stamps too, which is very helpful when the main post office further down the road has a queue as long as the Great Wall of China. Service is very friendly and efficient, and it's nice to have someone serving who knows what they're doing. (I've given up sending faxes from Hamdy's opposite, as they charge you differently each time, and when you ask them why, they admit they don't know how much to charge!!! Not that they bother to find out for next time.) There are lots of greetings cards in here too (of the cheesy 'Darling Daughter' and 'Congratulations you are 5' variety).

Staff were wearing camera with their uniforms when stocking the shelves. The Express version of Teso seems to be designed for those on the go, perhaps grabbing a bite to eat before work, a quick lunch, or a sandwich after getting off work. I went in for water but ended up leaving with much more. The prices are so reasonable, hence why I bought more than enough. I was a little offput that the milk case doors were left open which probably isn't right for good safety reasons but other than that no complaints. They had fresh fruit, drinks, candies, dairy items, and things like chips/crisps and crackers. It's not a full grocery store though since it's an express version. They do have self checkouts as well which helps speed things along. Such a great place if you're hungry and don't want to spend a lot.

This one was fine. Your typical tourist bodega with cheap chotchkies and a reasonable selection of drinks and snacks. We were there to get some local beer and we were in luck. I also thought about getting one of the little tourist items for our kids. But decided we would rather not pay the money for something that will be forgotten in a week. Service was fast. Cashier was friendly. But overall a bland, a-ok experience.

A huge organic selection. A whole shelf of tea. Racks of dried fruits (I am not addicted to dried figs), nuts (cashews!) and I even found jars of sunflower butter here...which is surprisingly good and a good alternative to peanut butter (which they also have). Fantastic ethnic cooking section chock full of sauces, ingredients, grains, rices, beans and any element you probably need, spices, decent bakery with breads, rolls, pitas, etc. Eggs and dairy, beer, wine, a lot of coconut water, and a fresh produce section (outside) which is standard, but nice to have. Things you won't find: fresh meats or fish. Par for the course! The family that runs it is very friendly as well (always so polite!) and I always leave feeling quite good about supporting a local food shop that is not only convenient, but tucked away from the madness of the Old Street roundabout. You can find almost everything in there, from bubble gum to grains, dried fruits, fresh fruits (very good selection), alcohol... Almost everything except fresh fish and meat. The tiles on the floor seem perenially in need of a good mopping and the layout could definitely be improved. Having said all that, this is the place I come daily for those basic items I could probably not live without, and there is an impressive range of foods for a medium-sized shop. Haloumi, yoghurt, feta, beer, sesame seeds, soft Turkish flatbreads and chocolate are some of the things I regularly grab here. Except for the vine tomatoes, I tend to avoid the tired-looking fruit and vegetables. A welcome recent addition is the bakery section whose organic white bloomer loaf and croissants are both delicious if you get them hot and fresh out of the oven!
