Disappointing over-use of the microwave and poor ingredients - After having sung the praises of this restaurant many times before, my recent visit (over 12 months on) was a tremendous and expensive disappontment. Warmed ciabattta with olive oil and balsamic dip bread was microwaved, balsamic was cheap and foil wrapped portions of anchor butter ? do me a favour, please ! Deep fried Mozzarella with tomato dip not bad, not sure if they were bought-in
Mushrooms in tomato sauce (same as came with deep fried mozzarella) hot as hell, rubbery mushrooms and obviously microwaved 2 Fillet steak Rossini steak, nice but rare, not medium rare (no reason for complaint, i'd rather it under done than over done!) the mushroom and marsala sauce was obviously pre-made and not recently so ! The crouton was microwaved given the texture of it. Spinach and garlic side absolutely outstanding, a wonderful side dish Rocket and parmesan salad tasteless rocket not at all peppery, parmesan was also tasteless, not nice. Large espresso lovely coffee :) All in all, £75 for 2 courses, one peroni and one water seems somewhat excessive given the quality. On previous visits the food has been of exceptional quality this time it was quite the reverse, cutting ingredient s quality, over-use of the microwave and no reflection of this on the costs NOT worth driving 35 miles for and I will not be recommending Luis again in the near future. read more
