I had an appointment with Dr. Luis Grau at 5:45 PM, and unfortunately, this was one of the worst medical experiences I've had. From the start, the visit felt rushed and impersonal--more like a high-volume business than a patient-focused practice. I was specifically asked to come in with X-rays for back pain, yet during the appointment, Dr. Grau did not review them at all. He spent roughly five minutes with me before recommending that I get an MRI, without explaining why or discussing any findings. There was no effort to understand my situation--he didn't ask about my current pain management, medications I was already taking, or the virtual consultation I had previously when the pain first started and I could barely move. Throughout the visit, he was walking around the room with little to no eye contact, which made the interaction feel dismissive. At one point, he even opened the door mid-conversation, as if trying to end the appointment prematurely. What stood out most was the lack of communication and care. He attempted to push prescription medication without properly explaining it, simply saying, "take it, I know what I'm talking about." There was no discussion of options, risks, or a treatment plan tailored to my condition. Overall, the experience felt rushed, unprofessional, and lacking in basic patient care. I was recommended by my primary doctor to see Dr. Grau for a swollen knee. When meeting Dr. Grau and his team I felt immediately comfortable and grateful. Dr. Grau took his time and explained my knee condition and the options available to me. After reviewing the x-rays it was clear I would need surgery for a Quad sparing knee replacement. A date was set and I was given a print out explaining all the steps and expectations a patient should be aware of. Anna his person responsible for dealing with the insurance and being the person who was available to assist with all necessary tests, etc was a super hero especially the closer to the day of surgery. There was never a worry in my mind that I was covered and secure before surgery. My whole experience from Dr. Grau, Andrew Mantone PA, Anna, Hudson Regional Hospital staff and everyone that was part of this surgery was beyond excellent. I would recommend anyone to Dr Grau. After over a year of sleepless nights due to the pain in my hip, I was seen by Dr. Grau. Afterr his examination and x-rays, he determined that the best cause to take would be a full left hip replacement. From the very start of the planning and scheduling absolutely everything went smooth. Every single person I dealt with was friendly and helpful and answered each and every question I had until I understood it completely. After the surgery I stayed overnight and released the following afternoon. After only three days I was able to drive my car.Then to my great surprise I was able to go back to work in 8 DAYS! Hello, I'm Violette. I was suffering with pain in my right hip for nine months and my primary doctor refferd me to Dr. Grau. On my first appointment Dr. Grau told me I needed a hip replacement and I got nervous. Then the good Doctor walked me through the procedure and he made my anxiety go away. On December 20, Dr. Grau performed my right anterior hip replacement. It is unbelievable, two week out and no pain. I had very little pain immediately after surgery and was walking and using stairs within hours. Today, 6 weeks later--no pain at all.
