Unlike most pizza places where the garlic knots and breadsticks are completely forgettable, these where really good. They had a nice exterior and a very delicate interior. Splitting six of these between two people wasn't enough. Get more or don't share. When the pizza was brought out and set on the table, I remember my reaction -- Finally! Finally a proper NY pizza. If you've ever had a NY pizza you will know how they are absolutely loaded with toppings. The slices were so big and so full of toppings that it was actually a bit hard to manage. But I managed it -- my whole half. Don't judge. You will too. I prefer my crust a bit crispier but they told me next time I can ask for crispier crust and they will make it that way for me. Gotta love that. I prefer mine with a bit more crisp and a little char on the crust. The food was so good. It has been a while since I've felt that stuffed but it was worth it. I will be back very soon. Recommendation to owner: Get a couple classic arcade games like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, and Donkey Kong. You'll complete that 80's style pizzeria vibe. My only thing to put this over the top would be to serve in cold bowls. I opted for the house dressing which was delicious. The pizza was good like I remembered. I would prefer a little more sauce on my pizza but I think by default they have a set amount they put on. I would definitely get more sauce on my pizza on my next visit. It's not my favorite crust but it works! There is plenty of seating with a large area for groups. Adina who is part of the family came to visit with us at our table and we gained a lot of information about the restaurant and her family. What a wonderful woman to meet! Some of those places can sometimes live off of their reputation and can scale so large that they lose what made them great. Oak City takes nothing for granted regarding the pizza, cold beer (at a great price) or their service. The staff were very friendly and the owner was really engaging. Since it was our first time there, she came out to our table to ask us how everything was and talked about how they got their start and a bit about their passion for making really great pizza. We have had excellent Neapolitan style pizza at some of the best places in the state and the metro, namely -- Andolini's in Tulsa on Cherry Street and the Wedge in midtown OKC, and neither of them have anything on Oak city. To start, the crust is tender and bubbly around the edges and has a great flavor. It looks exactly like the pictures on their web site and It's made from a 5 year old sour dough starter and is absolutely a perfect artisan style crust. The sauce has a mild, but distinctive tomato flavor that won't overpower the crust or the toppings. There is also no need to order extra cheese because the normal amount is plenty. We will definitely be back soon, and next time, we'll try the Detroit style pizza too -- along with the original. Do yourself a favor and try this place out soon.
