We booked a sunset cruise to celebrate my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary with a private, unique experience and were so impressed with the professional and personalized service from Captain/Owner Jason. Due to COVID we wanted to avoid large crowds and have an outdoor experience with the ability to take off our masks in open air. This was the perfect thing. We planned ahead and got a takeout dinner and met at our designated dock, then after a brief safety tour of the boat and equipment, we set sail. One of the main concerns we had was potential motion sickness and although the harbor is fairly calm, if a large boat goes by, a wake will still make other boats go up and down. In the first few minutes, one of our kids began to feel sick, but Jason knew what to do. He actually asked our son if he wanted to help steer the boat, as this could help him get a clear view ahead (instead of sitting on the side), and also direct where the boat was going. This brilliant idea helped Significantly and averted a possible miserable cruise. Everything after that was Smooth Sailing the whole way and the kids LOVED it. Jason made sure we were all taken care of the entire time and the anniversary celebration was so special and unforgettable. I would definitely do this again and if you're thinking about creating a memorable experience for someone in fairly calm waters with a beautiful view I would highly recommend booking a cruise. ----TL;DR---- PROS: this was an amazing, personable, safe, private, affordable, memorable, experience and we'd definitely do it again. Drinks and snacks are included and you can bring your own food/drink too. CONS: None, other than there is a very tiny chance of motion sickness from very small waves from large ships passing by. This lasts a few seconds and then the boat is still again. If you're prone to motion sickness, wear the sea bands and/or try Dramamine, but all of us are prone to it and only my most sensitive kid had an issue at the beginning with 1 boat wake and then it was fine. It is a boat, after all. BOTTOM LINE: highly recommended! Jason is so nice and professional, and the boat is very comfortable. Took my family on a private sunset cruise with Lucky Sol in September 2020 and we all had a fantastic experience. The Owner/Captain Jason was awesome. Very friendly, courteous and informative. Made us all feel comfortable immediately. You can bring your own food, liquor, soft drinks (don't forget the ice) on board with you. You can eat down below in the kitchen or on top. Before taking off, Jason gave us a safety briefing in case anyone got hurt, and what do to. He let my two teenagers help steer the boat, which they both loved. The views were wonderful. The photos awesome. The entire experience was very enjoyable. I've been on the San Diego Hornblower. For less money you can for a family of four, you can take a private cruise, and miss all the extra fees and crowds that you experience on the Hornblower. Went on a 3 hour corporate sail with 7 others last month in the evening. The boat was gorgeous, clean, and roomy. Our captain, Jason, was friendly, provided top notch service and he can engage as little or as much as you want. A few days prior to arrival, he sent out a detailed email on location and parking. This was very helpful because the gate can be easily missed. Seven of us plus the captain was the perfect fit. I was told it can seat up to 10 without the Captain but I feel that would be a little tight. As long as you split between inside, outside by the Captain or outside on the nose (sorry I'm not familiar if there are actual terms for these locations). We celebrated pot luck style and BYOB. We used the cute little oven to heat up our tray and used the fridge to keep other items chilled. We were so excited that we forgot utensils and didn't bring enough plates. Jason, graciously allowed us to use his silverware and plates. Believe it or not, the evening gets cold in San Diego and Jason was so sweet to have a stash of blankets for us to stay warm. He is very flexible on where you want to sail and whether you want to sail with the motor on or off. The only advantage is the peace and quiet of the surrounding waters. Be sure to dress appropriate to stay warm at night, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and proper shoes! Cute heels can be tricky as some areas were hard to maneuver. Jason will go over the safety speech with you. Highly recommend his service and we already have another event booked with him and more to come! read more

At the end of a difficult business trip in San Diego, I wanted to get on the water. In my path to be a competent sailor and navigator, I saw a great match with Jason, given that we both love sailing and flew military jets. I made a great choice. Not only does Lucky Sol support local charities but their service is what creates an unforgettable experience. Jason is a great captain and his boat is so cozy! Her Maid-of-Honor and I brought my sister on a sunset cruise for her bachelorette party. Jason was awesome and accommodating. The perfect mix of engaging and letting us chat privately. He suggested we aim for the city instead of the ocean since the sunset wasn't looking super promising. We saw navy carriers, a sea lion and a pod of dolphins! Had an amazing time on the sail with Jason, who was our captain! It was perfect weather, and we got to watch the sun set out between Point Loma and Coronado. The boat was really nice, had a bathroom, small kitchen, and seating above and below deck. This was my first time sailing in SD and I think I'm addicted. The whole experience was honestly breathtaking and this is going to be my go-to activity when I have family or friends visiting from out of town. It wasn't hard at all to find free parking across the street, he comes out to get you so you don't get lost among all the boats, and we could bring our own snacks and drinks. Also, he asked if anyone ever gets seasick, had medicine on hand, and was willing to alter the course so that we could avoid the super wobbly areas if necessary. We drove by some sea lions that were napping on the way out, and on the way back we could see the city lights, other boats on the water, and the fireworks from SeaWorld. It couldn't have been better if it was planned, but either way, the best part was that we had options as we went along. I've done the generic bay cruises before but if you want something truly special, I would highly recommend Lucky Sol Sailing! Can't wait to go out in the bay again! read more

My sister and several friends joined me for a spectacular evening aboard the Lucky Sol. We arrived just a bit early for a few cocktails and were out on the harbor in no time. Jason allowed me to arrive before others to stock items in the clean and comfortable cabin that evening. There is a small refrigerator and a stove top if needed. Jason took us on a leisurely ride out to observe sea lions, then up and down the sunlit buildings of the San Diego skyline. We had the ability to sit comfortably in the cabin, at the back of the boat in cushioned benches, or at the front on top of cushions. Jason is a gentleman and made us feel welcome and at ease. My sister is already planning a trip for her husband and another couple. Parking was easy and close. You can't beat the experience for intimacy and personal attention. read more
