Santikos took over the Grand Theaters and set about ruining the movie experience. Prices are up but…read moreservice is down. You stand in a concession line, pay for what you want, get your own candy (one wonders how much they lose in theft that way), pay the high prices and are gifted with empty containers for you to fight other patrons to fill your popcorn and your drinks. No one to purchase tickets from; you either do that online and pay extra fees or the kiosk at the theater. Oh and don't purchase a daquiri because Santikos cannot price in styrofoam into the $18 price for a daquiri, so your hand will freeze. We saw Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition recently at the Johnston Street location and the theater sounded like it had one front center working speaker set to LOW volume; you could easily have conversations with people next to you, even several seats away. Total garbage, especially for a music documentary. I guess they didn't expect many people, so screw those fans because I heard sound blasting out of other theaters. Don't waste your money or your time. Movies are much better and cheaper at home with surround sound and you'll get better service.

Overall this was a good time where you could easily transition between the festival stages and local businesses.

I may have never found this place otherwise! A few of my favorite things in here are the handmade soaps and bath bombs, GORGEOUS glass mosaic art, handcrafted stationery and quirky metal crafted wall decor-my favorites definitely being some cool alligators playing an accordion and fiddle. The ladies who work here are sweet and most likely at some point will call you "doll" or "sha" and I just love service like that. I'm obviously fan-girling all over this gallery! Go check it out!

They also added a "service fee" to each transaction with the armband which they really didn't explain up front like they should have. I would have usually purchased a LOT more beverages at a festival like this but the armbands made things so painful I just gave up and bought lemonade instead from one of the vendors that didn't require the malfunctioning armband. There were a LOT of great food vendors along with a HUGE number of fantastic musicians performing. Another big highlight of this event was the chef's demonstration tent where you got free samples along with learning how the dishes are made. Overall this is an amazing time with great music, good food and expensive drinks that are a pain to even purchase with the goofy armbands.
