We ordered the chicken fried steak with cowboy beans and had almost enough left to get a loaded baked potato to go along with it. We were there after the lunch crowd had left, so they weren't busy. The food arrived quickly and it was delicious. The steak was very tender and hadn't shrunk inside the breading. Sometimes that can be disappointing but not at all here. Just the right amount of gravy and a perfect 2 piece serving for sharing. The beans were done right, too. Someone with a bigger appetite might have gone after the loaded baked potato but we saved it for later. That worked out well. Oh, and good luck in the casino!

The karaoke guy is also a very nice gentleman. The stars go down because the karaoke guy will move you down on the list and let other people get pushed in front. I get wanting variety, but some people can't stay. I don't sing! Ha! But my crew does. We get there early, they stick their songs in knowing we are leaving in a couple of hours. We stayed late because my friends came out of town to see me. They kept putting more and more people in front of my friends, we left at midnight with oily one of my friends singing one song. She put in 3 songs.. Anyway, it's a bad practice, you never know where people are at and what's going on, so to skip them is pretty disrespectful. Also they never start the karaoke at 8 as advertised. It's whenever the guy wants to start it.

We learned not to show up at check in time because the lines can get a little long. We would go during the week when we had that option because it's way less crowded. Once you get a Winstar card, they send you all kinds of deals to save money and to use for gambling. For some reason, my dad was the only one that would receive a postcard in the mail for a free gift, so we would always get in line and claim that! The crowd is a little bit older and in some ways I really enjoyed that. I love their slot machines and they do offer free soft drinks and coffee while you are gambling. You're not allowed to take drinks onto the casino floor so be sure to have some available in your room. One great benefit for older folks is that they have free wheelchairs available at most of the entrances. You just pick one up on your way in and can use it for your stay, then just leave it at the door when you leave. And if there aren't any available, the staff is usually very helpful in finding one for you. It's really nice not having to load up a wheelchair in a vehicle when you make a trip to Winstar. And if you prefer a scooter, there are several companies that will deliver it right to the hotel. We tried several of the restaurants in the casino and our favorite was the fish and chips. They have quite a variety of food places throughout the casino. They also have a large variety of slot machines, from the newest to the oldest. And their casino is huge and very nicely decorated, especially the newer parts. I'm looking forward to my next trip there!

I recently attended a Bryan Adams concert here, and the logistics were surprisingly easy to navigate. First of all, follow directions on Google Maps, and you are taken to the back side of the WinStar complex, and you avoid a lot of traffic. There is a parking garage which is adjacent to the event center which makes parking a breeze, and we avoided the rain. Parking was free. There is security to enter the venue, and you are only allowed a small "clutch" size bag. I had to return my purse to the car because although it wasn't very large, it was over the size limit. So be aware of that. Security went quickly and people were there to provide directions to your seat. We were in the upper section, but still our seats were good. The concert went off with only one small hitch (a short problem with the sound), and it was an enjoyable experience. Getting out of the venue, parking garage, and parking lot was simple. We faced no problems. We never even had to go through the casino area at all.

Lucas Oil Live. Tried to attend Los Tigre's Del Norte show…read moretonight. Getting there was easy. Parking right next to the venue. On my he outside, it looks great. Inside was nice as well. On the surface it seemed like we were in for a fun night. Problems started as soon as we walked in. First off, we were stopped by venue security before they even scanned our tickets because they had a problem with my wife's Fanny pack saying it was too large and we had to ask a different security guard to get permission for it. The bag is about 8" by 4" and clearly smaller than their sign for approved bags showed. Once deemed approved we went to scan our tickets and security was yelling at people telling them to hurry up. We went in about an hour before the show so they were maybe 4-6 other people going in at the same time. No crowd whatsoever. Fine. Go to the merch table and the ladies working there acted like they had no idea what they were doing. Took both of them to find the t shirt I wanted. There were 3 different designs. Finally we made our way to our seats through a sea of security guards and cops. I was literally worried about an ICE Raid since it was a Mexican band. After all that we got to our seats. Nice layout, looks like a great concert venue. All was good until the music started. Within 30 seconds of the band starting, I could tell there was an issue with the sound/mixing board. Everything was just off. Instruments all sounded out of sync and it never got better. Even the band was having a hard time. They are professionals and were trying to fight through it but they was all constantly messing with their in ear monitors and doing their best to provide a good show. I do not blame the band at all. They have been doing this for decades and I've seen them before recently and they were great. We made it almost an hour and had to leave because we just couldn't take it. I have been to hundreds of concerts over the years and this was the first time I have ever walked out of a show. Don't waste your money. If you want a good concert at a casino, go to Choctaw. That place is great and sound there is exceptional.
