Prices seemed kind of high to me but to be fair I don't know anything about grandfather clocks, lol. They also have a nice selection of Frankenmuth magnets, they ranged from like $4 to $10. I ended up buying one of the $4 ones. The reason I'm bumping up this review to five stars is because I lost my Fitbit there (Fitbit Zip, an old one that sits on my waist, not my watch) and when my husband and I got to Kern's and realized it, we rushed back to the store to check there first (it was 530pm). The (owner? Employee?) welcomed us back, and another customer immediately pointed to it on the floor. Saved us a lot of hassle and had they closed immediately at 530pm, the doors may have been locked. Looking forward to checking this store out again the next time we are in town.

I love their metal flower pot garden decors, super cute. They have so many wonderful little gifts and fantastic candles and anything you could imagine. I usually buy a couple of their lovely scented candles here. Candles in the tins are pricey, but smell so fabulous and are long lasting too. And, It's most definitely worthy of a road trip! Especially if you appreciate kitchen stores. They do have a wedding registry. AND, I've also used this for Christmas gifts for my mother-in-law the last two Christmas holidays. Made me so happy to be able to get things that she would love. AND, it's worth noting that my mother-in-law is a very savvy shopper (I am missing the shopping gene) and she absolutely LOVES this place. A few years ago Acorn Farms carried these super cool lily pad shaped, rubbery styled bowl covers that were pretty cool. I think my mother-in-law personally sold about 30 of those things cuz she told everyone she knows about them. I bought a couple too and they're fabulous because you can use them to seal just about any bowl! This shop carries both beautiful and unique home items along with just about every kitchen gadget you can think of. And their service is unbelievable. Every time I go in there, and my most recent visit was no exception, the staff ALWAYS helps me above and beyond the call of duty. And that's pretty amazing considering that the place is always busy! Only thing I think might bother some people is that the pricing is not discounted. And yet, I personally go out of my way to purchase things here because I like having this store in our community. Oh, this year they had something called 5th Saturday (or something like that) and for any month that had a 5th Saturday, you could go in on that day and fill a bag (that they give you) with things that are then discounted by I think 20%, but I'm not certain. My point is that they are trying to find ways to offer opportunities to reward their good customers and I love that too! I'll be going again soon because they sell beautiful candles and I need one for the kitchen!

It was and for good reason- it's the sister store of a home decor shop in Tawas City that I remember shopping last summer. That store was super cute and kinda eclectic and so was this one. The store just opened in April and is very much like the shop up north. They mirror each other pretty well, from layout and service to selection and price point. Customer service was nice and attentive and the stock was ample, showcasing plenty of "farmhouse chic" type of decor- candles, vases, furniture, clocks, artwork, signage, etc, much of it in a rustic, upcycled motif. The prices are kinda on the high end for even simple items, but the furniture was pretty reasonably priced. Some of the pieces are pretty garden variety and nothing that unique or that you can't get at Target for much less, but other items (larger pieces) are rather interesting and worth a real look. Overall, a nice store with great service and a mid-range price point for the most part.
