The staff are all amazing, and they are very passionate and knowledgeable, so you're never left feeling like you're at it alone, should you need more help and teaching. We came in on a Sunday morning for their 10AM outreach class that went over safety information, instructions on how to hold a bow and positioning of your body, and types of commands, to listen to, that are given out when you're on the range. I believe our instructor's name was Jack, and he was so informative and patient with us. After spending 30 minutes with him, we were fitted for our gear, and led to the range to begin practicing. If you are unsure or your form needs some adjustments, the staff members are always nearby or behind observing everyone. This range has walkable trails that are available to members, but their practicing range gives you a taste of how well-kept the site is. They do have outhouses for restrooms, and parking is free. We were able to enjoy our morning out for just $5 - SCORE! Their website provides ample amount of information regarding hours of operation, outreach program info, and upcoming events at the range. Will be returning soon, and hopefully have the chance to walk their trail ranges in the near future!

The fitness center, although it looks run down, here has all the equipment you need and never gets as busy as 24 hour fitness or equinox. I haven't tried it yet, but have noticed the bowling alley and tennis courts. The monthly Bingo events are always something fun to look forward to. I did not realize how intense the games can get, and am still hoping to win one day. They also offer affordable Wednesday night dinners that are catered and the drinks are cheap ($2 beers). I really enjoy the gym, steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi on a weekly basis. The people here always say hi and are very friendly. I might be on the younger side but don't mind learning from our older members. Everyone here is very respectable and great. I like taking my kids here over the summer to the pool to enjoy. They also have a cantina bar to enjoy a cocktail or beer under the sun. They also have Wednesday night dinners for a reasonable price. Also throughout the year they have many events to enjoy. I would recommend checking them out.

The teachers and the DJs should all be good. The Imperial Ballroom is not far from Foresters Hall, the Swing Central location, and a great dance floor. The grand opening was Saturday, 12 January 2008 and very well attended. I highly recommend checking out The Rhythm Lounge. It looks like a typical schedule will be: 8pm - 9pm - Beginner Swing Lessons 8pm - 9pm - Intermediate Swing Lessons 9pm - midnight - Open Social Dancing Check the website for the actual schedule.

It's another great…read moreswing dance put on by the people who run Swing Central, and seems to draw a similar (very friendly) crowd. I made it for the first time last night, and will certainly be making it a new part of my dance habit... (The next ones are June 13 and July 4, I think.) This month there was an intermediate class at 7 and beginner class at 8; the teachers were helpful and engaging, and found a good balance between fun and challenging for classes with a pretty wide range of skill levels. Social dancing was from 9 to midnight. The DJ, one of my favorites from Swing Central, played a great mix -- he always seems to do a good job paying attention to the energy of the room and varying the mood and tempo accordingly, keeping people happily dancing for the whole night. They're at a new venue in Burlingame starting this spring, which is a nice space for dancing. The dance floor is smooth and feels spacious although it's not huge; it stayed pretty busy for most of the dance, but in a way that mostly felt intimate rather than crowded. There's a kitchen area off to one side, with water and some snacks, and a kind of lobby area near the entrance that was good for cooling off and chatting. Unlike some other dances, where the really good dancers tend to keep to themselves in one corner, here people were doing a lot of mingling, even more so than at Swing Central. I'm pretty shy, but got asked to dance several times, and found many people approachable enough to do some asking myself.

But you don't feel like you have enough time. Hands On Bay Area is such a cool vehicle for volunteering without commitment. Sign up, show up, do your 2-3 hours and go home. And if you find a project you really love, you can volunteer every month (most are recurring) or contact the agency to become a regular volunteer. I do wish they had more things I could do with my very young girls. I want to raise them to enjoy volunteering, and most of these projects only welcome older children. But we did do a "With Seniors" visit and a good time was had by all. Our new elderly friend Dorothy really connected with my 5 year old daughter. Meet great people, give back to the community, have fun doing it.
