STAY AWAY!!!!! AND DO NOT SIGN HIS CONTRACT!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a horrible experience with Dave Pellerin (Loyal K9) - he was initially okay, but then became rude, condescending, and arrogant. He also kept badgering me to raise my voice to my dog, despite my dog obeying when I spoke in a normal tone of voice after a few sessions. I finally called him before the 6th session and asked him politely to cancel the contract because for $100 a session, I don't appreciate him acting like a jerk to me and my dog. He refused to cancel the contract, and became even more rude the last two sessions. Then I tried to schedule the last session, and Dave was very difficult about scheduling me for the last session and then tried to get me to pay him an extra $100 for not being with in the same "week". Then he sent me a nasty text saying that even though I tried to schedule three times within the same week, I "violated" our contract. And then sent me about 15 more messages the same day that became progressively more disturbed.. FIND SOMEONE ELSE!!! Since writing this review, Dave Pellerin of Loyal K-9 has texted me repeatedly, super long messages, from his icloud account (which yelp made me remove from here), and threatened to sue me for over $10,000 for posting this review on yelp. How messed up is that? This guy doesn't even contact me through his cell phone, on which we've had all contact previously, he contacts me from a icloud account that doesn't have his name on it. HE ALSO TOLD ME HE VIDEOTAPED MY DOG TRAINING SESSIONS WITH MY DOG "because we did it in a public area, there is no law against it", and HAD A WITNESS (his apprentice Kady) THAT HE SAID HE WILL 'use against me in court when he sues me'. Since I never said or did anything that was not polite by phone or in person, I'm not too worried about that. He never told me he was videotaping the sessions, and I certainly never would have consented to that- it's so creepy!!!! If anyone wants a copy of his messages, notify me on here and I will send you copies (be aware there are many, and they are extremely long). I strongly recommend you find someone else, unless you want to get harassed by him and have him threaten to sue you. read more

My family has benefitted tremendously from the training given to us and our dogs by David at Loyal K9. When we called him, we felt like adopting our 3rd dog was a mistake and that our dogs were out of control. It seemed like our training attempts made small improvements but with three dogs having different learning needs and attitudes, I felt incredibly overwhelmed and SUPER tired. David gave private lessons for 8 weeks, working with me, my husband, and our 3 dogs, solving many of our issues quickly. We found the private lessons to be affordably priced, especially when comparing to the other training tools we'd spent money on or looked into. He showed care and concern for our dogs and communicated clearly with us to make sure we were comfortable with what we were doing and understood all the steps. I am absolutely in love with animals and especially my dogs, so I was really happy to see my dogs enjoy the process as well! Some of the issues we were dealing with: - blocking the door because they were excited to see us so we'd struggle to get in - running out the door and down the street when we are walking in - jumping on us excitedly (75 lbs.... not fun) - pulling on walks, and sometimes getting away to run after a cat or to barking dogs - our friendly big dogs would not give visitors personal space (so they'd be crated or put outside) and our shy dog would often act aggressively towards strangers. From the very beginning, our dogs responded positively to David, and we were eager to learn! We first learned how to praise and correct our dogs effectively so that our dogs understand the behaviors that are "good" and what is not acceptable. Then, each week we worked on new behaviors. It has been a couple of months since completing the 8-week training, and the dogs continue to improve. They are more calm and confident, and we are all very happy about it! My favorite behavior is the "place" command. I say; "place," and all three dogs run to their resting spots. They stay there until I say; "take a break," and give them a reward of petting and/or praises and/or treats. I love this command because when I come home with groceries, I can use the command and unload the car peacefully; when guests come over, the command allows the dogs to chill out and nap while we visit; when the dogs are getting too boisterous in the house or even in the yard, all I have to do is say, "place," and all three will go chill out. AMAZING. In the future, we will be calling David at Loyal K9 for help in continuing to socialize our dogs, and probably for refresher classes. :) read more

So I took my dog Moose to Loyal K -9 to have him trained because what I was doing and watching on youtube wasn't working. When I went back to pick him up I didn't think that was Moose, I had a brand new dog. I paid for the 3 week basic obedience class and David added some advance training for free. I didn't even ask him to do that, he did it on his own. I can say I got more than what i paid for. Moose is off leash and comes when calls and obeys my commands and he seems happy to do so. I adopted a pitbull mix about a month ago. I had her a week and immediately knew she needed training. She pulled terribly on a leash and barked at every dog and person we would walk by. I wanted the best for her and I didn't want people to fear my dog Ukki. I also feared she was dog aggressive. I did some online researched and found loyal k-9. All the reviews were convincing but what sold me even more was when it called David. He was so intuitive and really listened to my concerns. That being said we set up a in home assessment. David came and got to witness all of my problems an concerns with Ukki right away. We went for a walk and she was terrible and embarrassing (pulling me around, taking ME for a walk). David took the reigns on the way home and only had to correct her twice before she was heeling for him. I was pretty amazed because he did this all in front of a house with a snarling, mean guard pitbull distracting her. We talked about our concerns more back at the house and Dsvid explained the training. I was SOLD and he took her that day. She completed the 3 week training program with David and I got her back about 5 days ago. The training of me, the human went well. It was a lot and a little overwhelming but she listened very well to me and the commands. When I took her home I was warned she may test her limits and try to go back to her old ways and believe me she tried! Her training with me is going well. I still have some work to do on myself as being Alpha, but I'm getting there. She still occasional barks at other dogs but David is great with answering any questions if I call or text. Dave had her for a 3 week course and it has been a huge improvement. David is an amazing trainer and an all around friendly and professional guy. We had a great experience having him train Roxy, our one year old pit mix. Roxy went for the 3 week boot camp training at David's place. She finished in less than 3 weeks, and knows all her basic commands both verbal and non-verbal! It was probably harder training me to use them correctly then training Roxy! Though David is very patient and came back for a two week at home follow up to help me fine tune any issues we still have. He also gave us advice for areas to practice on and pointers for more advanced training we could work on at home by ourselves. I was recently having some trouble with my wonderfully disobedient dog Kona, and was growing extremely frustrated her. I really didn't know what to do. That is when I heard about Loyal K-9. If you are looking for dog training, Loyal K9 is an excellent choice and highly recommended. After an initial in home assessment, we were confident that sending our dog to Loyal K9 for the 21-day boot camp would be very beneficial. On drop-off day, we all suffered from separation anxiety. David was very responsive to all of our inquires of how Molly was adapting. He always provided great details of her progress, and made Molly comfortable during the adjustment period. (According to Molly, he even invited her in to sit on the couch, although that wasn't David's story) Molly completed the training in about 12 days. David provided great information about what to expect on graduation day. We spent 2 hours trying to learn Molly's new found knowledge. David was very patient with all our mistakes. He provided clear and concise instruction and did not rush us. David came a week later for his follow-up appointment and spent extra time with us as we worked on the 30 FT leash training a little more. Molly's progress continues to improve everyday as we work with her. Loyal K9 facility is immaculate and was designed with the dogs' best interest in mind. The shelters were well planned out, clean, and comfortable. There are weather stations throughout the grounds to ensure the dogs are not over heated, as well as, a misting system to maintain a comfortable temperature. We just picked up our 4 year old German Shepherd. She had a lot of anxiety issues, shyness, and stubbornness. She was at the training for 3 weeks and I was thoroughly impressed by the demonstration I observed while out of Fiona's sight. David worked well with both of us when I started MY training, but my girl's stubbornness quickly returned, especially during one portion of the commands. My husband found Loyal K9 after searching Yelp. We had called another training company and they didn't seem to want to help us because I mentioned that our pit bull mix shelter rescue may be aggressive with other dogs. We own a 10 month old Vizsla named Lemon. If you know the breed, then you know they are extremely energetic and have a hard time focusing. No matter how many dog training YouTube videos we watched and time spent with her, we could not get her to listen and focus. Dave, thank you so much for helping out little furry friend! My boyfriend and I just finished out 4 week in home training with Dave and it was fantastic. Dumpling, our french bulldog, is 5 months old and it was great having Dave come to our house because when we first started training her, she didn't have all her shots so she wasn't allowed around other dogs. Plus, it helped since the boyfriend and I would have had separation anxiety. However, I would have trusted Dave with her for the 2-week training in a heartbeat. Just picked up my 8 month old german shepherd Polo a couple days ago from the 3-week basic obedience training and he literally came back waaay more obedient than before. He no longer jumps on you or pulls on his leash during walks and he used to have a habit of play biting A LOT and chewing on everything in the house but when we brought him back he rarely did that if not at all. I noticed that he doesn't have separation anxiety anymore, as David had pointed out during the consultation. Polo also actually listens when we tell him "No" now so A+. David is super knowledgable and honest about everything (he gave great advice during the consultation alo; you can definitely tell he knows what he's doing, plus he was super accommodating and patient when teaching me the training during pickup. What I thought was great at pickup though was that you're standing inside watching the demonstration (so your dog can't see you) and then David gives the ok and you come out and like surprise your dog..so cute. I did the puppy classes at PetSmart which are completely worthless, so I was really discouraged. A friend recommended Loyal K-9. After just one in home lesson with David, I'm already seeing some great changes in my stubborn little dog. His approach is so different than the pet store methods, and so much more effective. First off let me say that I don't do Yelp reviews. I refer to Yelp all of the time, but simply didn't believe in committing to writing my opinion for the world to see. BUT after having so many people ask me where my dog, Kade, was trained and referring him to just about anyone complaining of training issues, I thought it was time to write my first review. David did an awesome job with Kade. Kade is a very large and somewhat goofy dog that had serious "Alpha Dog" syndrome- he jumped, chewed everything up (including all my trees), and didn't listen when I tried to correct him. I looked around and found David to have a nice, clean, and safe space for the dogs he trained. He is fair priced and very qualified. Kade was in the 3 week boot camp class and my family and I were shocked at the turn around. No more jumping, leash trained, no chewing, listens when we say "No". Still a little goofy but that's just his personality. David was also very kind and went above and beyond to break his contract and extend his aftercare time line to me due to a death in my family which most places would not do. If you're looking for a good dog trainer, take a look at him. He has 5 stars for a reason. read more

As humiliating as it is to say this...I am a "Certified Dog Trainer". I became one to enhance the lives of my first two dogs. Smart move...but got very rusty during the years of theirs lives. So, after them living out theirs lives in our home, we could never be dog free. Rescued a GSD mix, and then eventually rescued schnauzer mix. Realized just how rusty I was. And...I had gone soft. I had to call in an expert! David came to our home and gave us lessons there in our backyard and with his encouragement...our dogs are much better citizens...which is great. The last issue we had was the schnauzer girl was absolutely TERRIFIED of the doggy door. And she is stubborn. She wouldn't come through it...not for anything...not food, affection. We tried the tough love and she stayed outside for three days until I broke and let her in. David to the rescue....long story short...that girl PLOWS through that doggy door in and out all day long. You would never know she had an issue. Thanks David!! Oh...and most importantly...David told us if he saw us hurt our dogs out of frustration or anger, he would terminate our client contract, he isn't down with that at all!!! I LOVE THAT!! I have a 6 year old American Pitbull that's great at home but a completely different dog outside of the house. He becomes anxious, excited, and has become aggressive towards other dogs. I wasn't sure if he would be too old to rehabilitate. But you can teach an old[er] dog new tricks! David came to the rescue. Immediately upon our first in-home consultation, he showed me how to stop my dog's excitement level from reaching a red zone and our first walk down the street went better than I had expected. We started with an in home evaluation, where David assessed our puppy and took us through what he would be teaching him. We decided to send our wild 5 month old chocolate lab on the 3 week training course with David. We trusted him immediately, and knew this is who we needed to get control with our puppy. While he was away training at Loyal k-9, we wanted to check in on our dog and he always responded in a timely manner. Even sent us pictures, which made us so happy! When it came time to pick up our dog, we could not believe how amazing our dog was on the leash!! & he just gets better by the day, as we continue to work with him at home! David made sure to work with us until we were very comfortable with all the comands he taught our dog. Loyal K-9 sure won me over. Please allow me to say that I was skeptical about sending my dog to the 3 week boot camp to someone I didn't know. She's a puppy and I knew that I would miss her and I also wondered if the results would be what we needed them to be since our dog is smart but just a little stubborn some times and we are limited on the time that we can put into training her so we needed help getting obedience planted into her head and then we could keep up the maintenance after that. Wow, did Loyal K-9 perform everything we needed and a whole lot more. The trainer, David Pellerin, is top notch. He knew I was having problems being separated from my puppy and he kept me updated regularly on her progress and even sent me pictures and occasionally video. He also posted some of the same items on his web page as well as on Facebook. That helped me immensely to start with. I could see through her progress (which was amazingly fast by the way) that she was happy and healthy and learning very well from a caring trainer. By the time we picked her up we were able to learn very quickly that she was doing so well in basic obedience that we went straight to test for the Canine Good Citizen test for AKC and she passed with flying colors. Now that we have had her back home, she is behaving so much better than she ever did before and the maintenance training is a real treat now. She seems to like it as much as my husband and I do. We took our dog, Tanner to see Dave because we wanted him to have a refresher on basic behavior and obedience. Tanner is our 4 year old stubborn dachshund and had been giving us trouble by not listening and exhibiting door crashing behaviors etc. tanner spent 2 weeks in training and when we brought him home it was refreshing. Tanner has since been a much better listener and he does exceptionally better in particular with heeling and he has more respect when it comes to waiting for permission to pass through a doorway instead of crashing. I had a really great experience with Loyal K-9. Dave does a good job of explaining what all is involved with the training and he wasn't pushy about getting me to sign up. He gave me the option to think about it, but after seeing him in action during the consultation I felt very comfortable with him helping resolve the issues I was having with my dog, Maddox. I even asked to come by and see the facility at the end of our consultation, on extremely short notice and he was very accommodating. The kennels were clean - much better than where I had boarded my dog previously. Maddox was at Loyal K-9 for two weeks and when I got him back I was impressed with the outcome. Dave also did a follow-up consultation with me to make sure I was on the right track which I appreciated and he was available for questions when I wanted to make sure I was on the right path.
