This is a YMCA facility that truly embodies all ages from the youngest to the oldest. It's diverse with age, nationality and culture. The outdoor track is just as popular as the indoor track and many come here to take part in using equipment too. I prefer the exercise classes. The instructors are knowledgeable and the classes are small. It has an intimate atmosphere and the members appreciate it. If you're in the area, come check them out. read more

Everything .... I use the pool ... today?(1/6) and it's chilly outside ... the on-duty lifeguard has the outside door open. Now when swimming in the lap pool which is cool, everytime you reach that end of the pool you're treated to a blast of cold air. I asked the guard if he could please close that door...his response ... no I can't to which I replied you can't? No I can't it's hot in here and I'm sweating. I know these are young people working but...telling a paying client that the employes comfort it more important was NOT the right answer. I kept swimming and later saw the Lead Guard enter pool deck and shut the door. read more

The facility is poorly managed and in bad shape. We had multiple issues with scheduling and reservations, so we decided to stop going. It's been a massive hassle to cancel my membership and an awful experience. It's so sad too. I grew up going to the Y. When I asked about canceling my membership, the staff was incompetent and gave me conflicting information about the process. I tried to cancel by phone, through the app, and in person. When I speak with a person they said they would email me the forms to cancel, which never came. I finally found the cancellation form online, but it wasn't easy to locate. You have to go to their Customer Support Hub first and then find the cancellation forms. By the end of this ordeal, they will have charged me for 3 additional months since I tried to leave the facility. Imagine having to spend that much time canceling a membership. There are a lot of highs and Lowe's when you're working out in the Charlotte area. This place is one of the highs. This YMCA is pretty awesome. It's just north of Charlotte and it's a really lovely facility for the distant suburbs of this important city in North Carolina. Everything looks brand new and the gym and cardio and showers are all pretty good. No real complaints about anything here, except that they did insist on calling my home location to verify that I was a real member, which YMCA places skip even though they're supposed to. read more

this might just be the worst gym i have ever been apart of. first things first i wanna talk about customer service. there is quite a bit of good kids who work here who are nice and respectful but when it comes to managers and specific workers it gets rude and violent. there is a bald man who works around the ymca who refuses to say hello in a nice manner to anyone who is below 18-21 years old. he is super nice to older folks but has an attitude towards kids for no reason. i walk in quite a few times a week, say hello and get a rude response every time or just no answer. now lets get to the basketball gym availability. from open- 330 there is constantly pickle ball on every court so there's no room to play basketball. this is super inconvenient because apparently no staff ever know the hours of the gym and the paper on the door is rarely ever right. roughly 6 months of the year have kids in the ymca school program in the gym every time i go, their loud and take up a whole court by themselves, inconvenient. the gym upstairs is fairly good with not so bad hours. at certain times it can be packed because it is little smaller and doesn't have a ton of regular equipment but it works out most of the time. now lets talk about pricing. the pricing for a student currently is 59 ish dollars. think about that for a minute. i pay 59 a month as a student who can only go during certain hours and the hours they provide are insanely limited. on the weekend its only open until 4 pm and during the school week its open until 9. between work and school i have maybe an hour to go workout so if you're a busy person this isn't the gym for you. overall i give this gym a 4.7/10 I've been a member of this gym for years and I've seen prices go up and quality go down which is sad to see. i wouldn't recommend it if you want availability and an open space. thank you. read more

Full weight room, locker room with showers (bring your own lock), and great staff/facilities. Even a reception area with couches, and a lenient mask policy. Very very disappointing experiences. Despite being told before joining that pool lanes were almost always available. They were frequently not. This is an expensive Y and we only joined it for the pools. They open Late on Sunday which makes it hard to use for those far away like us. The pools are small. The yoga lessons are not very good or well planned. The locker room is kind of sketchy. Very disappointing all in all. There is s good variety of workout equipment but availability is limited st certain times. The worst part of the experience was quitting. We decided to quit and consider rejoining later if the hours changed or you could reserve lanes. I called before my credit card was charged again. I was told I couldn't quit over the phone and that I needed to come in in person to resign. That was kind of ironic since one of the reasons for my resignation was the long drive. So by the time I could come in I was charged again! And then you have to complete a long form to quit. And then they tell you there is a fifteen day waiting period before your membership is cancelled. Terrible customer service. They must know that because they certainly don't want to keep you as members only to hold you up for as much money as they can squeeze out of you. read more

The Lowe's YMCA is the greatest! Lots of great group workouts with some even better instructors. There's always something going on here and staff is always willing to help. Probably the best point about this place is the amazing group workout instructors. Some of them are so charismatic and encouraging that I think they ought to be running for president. They really know how to set the mood of a high speed cycling class or get in your head and push you in an upbeat kickboxing class. There are tons of work out equipment, treadmills, bikes, free weights, two group workout rooms, indoor pool with lots of extras to it, lots of outdoor fields. Not to mention tons of regular weekend events, activities and getaways. Did I mention the building and stuff is practically bran new and always kept up to date? read more

This is a nice gym. We stopped in from out of state and due to a computer problem we actually worked out for free. Staff at the counter were nice and the gentleman working the gym floor was also cool. We only used the gym, but there's a lot going on at this facility. My husband and I went with intentions of joining using our silver sneakers medicare plan. We learned that this Y does not participate since they are a part of the greater Charlotte system. Most other Ys offer silver sneaker. Just another "big city" ripoff for seniors. Very disappointed. read more

The staff here are awesome; they are very caring & helpful. The instructors are knowledgeable, upbeat & really know what they're doing. Spacious class space & work out areas, there's also a nice area for the kiddos. Parking is decent, although can be a bit of trouble if there's a soccer game going on out in front of the Y. This place stays busy, no matter what time of day or not, so it's basically get in where you fit in. (pun intended) This is the reason for my 3 stars. It's a serviceable gym, but it could be better. Amenities are never open. I'm honestly only a member for the basketball court and it's either not open or so packed it's not worth going. On a side tangent, why don't the branches communicate when stuff is being renovated? The basketball courts at 3 different Ys were all being renovated at the same time. Why not stagger them so at least 1 is open? I'm convinced if an LA Fitness or 24 Hour fitness opened in the area they would go out of business overnight because those gyms can actually keep their amenities up and are cheaper. Price has gone up twice since I joined last year. I'm honestly rooting for it. read more

Disappointed with this location. Found that when I shared a situation where my 11 year old daughter & her 11 year old friend were almost hurt multiple times in the YMCA gym by an adult male spiking the ball at full strength at the 2 girls & the YMCA employee did nothing to prevent this from occurring (happened during a volleyball game), the 2 girls & I dropped out to avoid them being hurt. Seems the adult male only wanted adults playing in the family volleyball night. When I asked the male member to stop spiking at the girls, the male member started spiking at me. The listing was for family volleyball, not adult only. I received a call from the YMCA after complaining about the situation but no follow up, just the obligatory call. Very disappointed. I canceled my membership after this experience. I belonged to another YMCA that I really enjoyed. This one falls short on caring about children's safety as demonstrated by what I experienced. It is too bad because it is a newer facility with newer equipment & a nice green space. I think there are better gyms in the Mooresville area where they are run better. read more

The business model in place here is laughable. What a joke. They have cut me off twice this year when all they have to do is keep taking my $67/month for single membership. First they cut me off for not supplying latest tax earning documentation quickly enough. I got 1 email stating it was time to bring in my latest 1040 tax documents. That was it, next thing I know my membership is revoked. You would think they would call active willing paying members to speak to them directly like any reasonable customer-driven organization. I found out by scanning my badge at the facility. You see, they charge you more if you have a decent salary. I am at their maximum of $67 per month. You would think they would keep taking that easy money when I am a willing participant in them deducting it from my checking account. I had to pay a month on credit card and have them set up again to continue deducting each month from my checking account. Two months later I am stopped again at the scanner and told I haven't paid since May. I thought all of this was taken care of??? Nope, it was too much for their employees to configure correctly. They didn't set it up at all this time, so again they are not deducting the easy WAY over-priced monthly fee from my account. What kind of business continues to cut off their existing customers when they WANT to pay for the extremely overpriced service??? It is truly bizarre. That's $804 a year in easy money that they seem to not want. This time I just walked out and told the employee to just don't worry about it. Maybe I'll go back and beg a 3rd time to please keep taking my money. Side Note: So I have been paying $804/year just for their steam room. Most any other activity is completely out of the question. It is absolutely impossible to use the 2 basketball courts, and 99.9% chance you can't get in their little 4 lane pool (it is used evenings by high schools and other organizations, and in the day by other classes). I went over 5 months in 1 stretch without being able to get into the pool a single time. Planet Fitness = $10/month ... savings of 85% read more

The facility is nice, and clean. The aquatic area is a bit small and congested. The only challenge is the location on GPS is slightly off, but use your instinct when you see the large building with the sail signs that is the YMCA. read more
