Just when you think you've visited the worst Walmart in your life in another town.... whaam! , here…read moreyou arrive at the Walmart in Pecos Texas. Of course pretty much everything in Pecos Texas is overcrowded, run-down and expensive for what they really are. Except for Walmart! You get your standard Walmart prices but you do not have an automotive department, no 24 hours and even longer lines, but you do get to dodge Isles full of inventory that need to be broken down and items put on the shelves. Also, don't let me get started on the 20 plus people deep line because like overcrowded Pecos Texas everybody is trying to pack 10 pounds of crap in a 5lb bag, Walmart is no exception. This is one place that definitely needed to be a super Walmart. I'm going to hate to give this advice to you but the Family Dollar and general dollar down the road put this Walmart to shame. Now that you might have taken this advice, please do me a favor and do not go into these dollar stores until I am done finished and left this piece of a something town. I don't want my favorite places to get overcrowded. Oh, and before I go one more important thing, the parking lot! You think you're from Houston and driving /parking cannot get any worse than those Asians in Bellaire? Yes those people, but these people put the people that Park in Walmart to shame, actually make them look like professionals or something because if you try to come in here with a nice vehicle you can pretty much be assured you will have 6 Vehicles parked around a 4 space to park a lot around you in Every Which Way but Loose. If you have a prescription that is not covered by your insurance, always bring it to H-E-B! GoodRX has much better savings at H-E-B than anywhere else. My RX with GoodRX was $700 at Walgreens yet it was only $30 here. And that's for a month supply! That's a major difference on my budget for a RX that I can't live without! And if you know that a RX is coming, let them know you anticipate your doctor prescribing it and they will make sure it is in stock so you never run out! Now I am never out of my hard to find RX. Stock carts blocking every aisle. It took me 15 minutes to get out of the cosmetic aisles because…read moreof stockers, partially loaded abandoned carts, rude people leaving their carts in the middle of the aisles, people parked in the middle of the aisles on their phones. One couple with 2 carts and little kids walking 1 mph spanned the whole aisle so nobody could get through. All the pass thrus had stock carts blocking them. Why the store can't do all the stocking at night when there are much fewer shoppers I don't understand. Every time I've been there it's a claustrophobic nightmare. And trying to see prices on ground beef? No prices, just scan tags. WTF!? And I won't even get started on finding someone to help. This store has most of what I need, so I go there. But the stress level is climbing and I might be going somewhere else from now on.

Even the parking lot was trash free, and there weren't a lot of stray carts lying around (that could either be a testament to Walmart being on top of their game, or to the people of Ft Stockton just being very courteous.. We may never know lol). The interior of the store was a LOT smaller than I have ever seen, but it had the basics. Enough to be called a supercenter, I reckon. The people were friendly, and not just the employees. It appeared to be a true small town walmart, where everyone is just plain friendly to everyone. People of Fort Stockton, although you may not realize it you have a gem in this Walmart. Trust me, I have seen MUCH worse!!

no prepared foods, deli closed prior to my 8:30 arrival, pre made sandwiches looked disgusting and…read morewhen i checked the sell by date to see how long past it was, i was surprised to see 5/20 (my visit was 5/11). regardless of the date the meat looked so bad it was unidentifiable. not being dramatic, it really did look awful.and i would never purchase a sandwich that was a day old, never mind sitting in the case for who knows how long. the veggies and fruits looked old and picked over. selection of everything extremely limited. what fort stockton has taught me this trip, is to stay in van horn next time. not that van horn is some sort of west texas oasis, but fort stockton has disappointed me at every turn
