I see these reviews on Yelp and seem to wonder....were they paid for? I WARN EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY! He is aggressive in tone and disgusting to try to do business with! why would I give money to a business that treats you so bad? I ended up leaving and went to The REEL LIFE at devagas mall and spent my 250.00 on gear there and was treated like a king. I was concerned about being sure that I was in fact buying the correct size of shoesandwasstold to ASSUME ITS CORRECT I was visibly upset when leaving and the unhelpful female associate heckled me. Since the employees were just standing around pointing maybe someone could organize the shoes. if you go into this store expect not to be helped. They have the customers doing their jobs, which they clearly don't care about . Lots of people are looking for employmen.tA little customer service goes a long way. Sorting shoes and helping find things are just basic retail skills. Pointing, telling you to find it yourself, telling you to assume that everything you just spent over $ 150 on is correct, and finally laughing at you is completely unprofessional.

Post purchase of several items, the (presumably) owner pulled in and informed us that this is now a campground and we needed to move along. We had been in the, empty, parking lot for 20 minutes. In 5 years of nearly full-time van life, we have never experienced such rudeness. Glad you showed your true colors. A business to AVOID!!! Wow!! A reply. And not an apology. For example, "I'm sorry I reacted so swiftly. I should have popped in to my place of business first and learned from my staff that you two (only) folks in the parking lot are actually customers." Instead, "Heading off problems, as we had set up camp." Set up camp? Ya, we put our dog out with food and water on a rope. We saw your numerous "no dogs in store" signs. And setting up camp from 9:15-9-39 AM? Come on. Just not a good, customer first business man. Many times in various states around the country, bike/ski shops have even asked us if we would like to, "fill up our water? Or please, take your time. Need any tools? Want some MTB trail recommendations?" Not expected, but good business and really nice. Especially on a Monday morning when we are the only customers you had. In fact I was glad I popped in on August 1, 2026. The lone staff member I worked with was great. I bought an annual residential license ($35). Along with the license, you're required to purchase a $4 Habitat Management and Access Validation (HMAV). To fish on U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management (BLM), you also need a Habitat Stamp ($10), so I got that too. New Mexico loves fees... "Transaction Fee: An online processing fee of $1.00 applies via the portal, or $2.00 if purchased at a physical retail vendor." So my grand total was $51. The shop was smallish, but jam-packed with great goods. Lots of bait. Hooks. Rods. Shirts. They also offer guided tours. And the employee offered nice fishing spot tips. There was a really nice trading post next door. Located on the main road in Eagle Nest. It can get fairly busy in the area - watch for pedestrians and lost tourists. Lol. This area was such a nice reprieve from the 3-digit temperatures in southeastern part of the state.
