Never Use Lowe's For flooring installation. There is NO guarantee when the job will be started or finished. There is no single person to help you with anything, you buy from a salesman who disappears, talk to a 1-800 number that changes reps each time you call, coordinate with your own delivery drivers, installation scheduler, store manager, installation manager, they say the best way to get the installers to do anything is to talk to them in person if you live in the home, but you are never given a way to contact them if not. I had to make 4 phone calls and talk to 2 different locations then wait a week to purchase. Lowe's provided the OPPOSITE of a "reliable", "stress free" solution to being an out of state homeowner under contract to sell if floors were replaced. I signed the flooring contract with Lowe's on the 11th of September, it took until the 29th of September for materials to be delivered. Until the 21st of October for the installation to be completed. 40 DAYS LATER After the installation was complete the installers left a huge mess throughout the house (saws were used indoors), in the garage (pallets and packing materials and flooring supplies were left a strew), and they removed all toilets and standalone sinks, but did not re-install them. 6. $16,000 for LVP flooring throughout a 2,229 sq/ft home, still had to pay for fixtures to be re-installed and the home to be cleaned because of how the installers left the job. The ONLY installation company Lowe's outsources to, Keller Interiors, refused to schedule installation until the I personally went into the local Lowe's and purchased a $34 piece of stair molding that the Lowe's salesperson did not include in the original estimate or delivery. (Remember, I am an out of state home owner, I had to drive 1,000 miles, 8hrs there and 8hrs back to walk into the store and pick up a $34 piece of stair material that the salesman ghosted me on as soon as there was a problem.) Took so long the sale of the home fell through. Tenant interested, signed a lease to move in 7 November. On the 15th of October property manager did a walk through and advised that it appeared I only had half the required material delivered. I called Keller and they refused to inventory the material until the date of installation. I called the salesman at Lowe's (Craig King) who took the measurements, wrote the quote, and took my payment. He still to this day has not responded. I called the Lowe's 1-800 number that I had by this point called many many times to t. "Oh, yeah, it looks like Craig measured upstairs and downstairs but only quoted you for upstairs, so all that was delivered is the upstairs." Three days and many many more phone calls to people who did NOTHING but listen, sound confused, or apologetic, give me empty promises to make something happen or just tell me they were going to do what I had already tried I FINALY found a 1-800 tech who knew a person that could help. Unfortunately, as soon as I knew the material was going to be delivered I called Keller Interiors to make sure they knew. The next day, they contacted me and said, OK we see this new installation request and the soonest we can get to it is the 11th and 12th of November... AFTER my signed lease for the 7th. Once the installation of the upstairs started communication with Keller Interiors went to ZERO. No, "things are going great", "the installation is done", nothing. At the end of day one (they told me it took so long to book the install because it was a big job that required two days back to back and they absolutely could not be broken up even though this was a vacant home), I got an automated text from Lowe's saying my installation had been complete. I tried to confirm with Keller Interiors if it was in fact complete to make sure they were moving on to the downstairs and not stealing back my 2nd day. By 10:00 am the next day I had finally got a response and it was the scheduler telling me she couldn't make that call and I would need to call her manager. Why, had I not already been given the managers number on such a hot mess of an installation I have no idea. I tried calling him and it went strait to VM, so I texted. He called me back within minutes and said "Hey, the installers don't have anything going on today would you like them to knock out the downstairs?" What? Yes, absolutely yes, please for the love of all things do that. Communication throughout the project on all fronts was terrible. I had to talk to over a dozen people to get this one job done. There is no one that owes you anything, they are all in a position to pass the buck. This was an ABSOLUTE nightmare. I lost thousands of dollars and many nights worth of sleep all because I chose Lowe's for my flooring installation. read more

I quick trip with my sister to begin the process of decorating her house. While there we saw a Charlie brown Christmas tree for $139. We brought a ladder, mailbox and light socket fixture. They are so undermanned and the way they treat their employees is horrible...as I witnessed it myself. Lowe's cancelled my delivery without my input. My house was the next stop but not only did they not come, they rescheduled delivery of my refrigerator for next week. I called Lowe's in Sumter, SC. The worst Lowe's. Never picked up the phone except to disconnect the call. It took a quick pick up and nothing. I stated, "Hello" but got a click. No reply. Nothing. I called back and the phone rang once and disconnected. I stayed on the line for 20 minutes waiting for an associate. The call back time was 52 minutes to an hour. The last time I counted 52 minutes is only 8 minutes from 60 minutes ( an hour). The worst service for Lowe's. Hartsville, Florence, and Ft. The stock is okay if you know where to find it. The customer service in this store SUCKS! I'll briefly try and explain my last two visits. Today I had to load my own plywood as usual. There was an employee in the parking lot that basically watched me the entire time. When I finished loading this guy had made his way over and ask me, "Please return my cart to the loading area". Several days later I was looking for some wood siding. I gave the display number to the clerk and he told me it was an order only item and the price was actually $14.00 higher that the advertised price. Then he proceeded to tell my there was a 4 sheet minimum order and it would be about 2 weeks for delivery and a special delivery charge of $50.00 I searched Lowes.com and found the exact material, at the actual price of $35.99 compared to quoted price of $49.99, in stock at Lowes on Garners Ferry road in Columbia (about 35 miles away). I went to the Columbia store, bought what I needed and came home. On my next visit to this location, I mentioned this to the Sumter store and was told by a different clerk, "We did have the item in stock, just wasn't in the computer". By the way, the store in Columbia does help with the loading and also will return your cart for you. At this location, never expect to find more than two registers open during peak hours, but there will be many employees talking on cell phones in the store and counting nuts and bolts for inventory. Don't expect anyone to know where anything is located and be prepared to work from loading your purchases on your cart in the store to loading your car in the parking lot. This location is poorly managed. If you have the time and are making a major purchase, check the inventory and drive to the Columbia location. The cost of the extra gas is minor compared to the aggravation you will have at this store. read more

I Love Lowe's of Sumter. I can pretty much find what I need when I go in and the prices are pretty reasonable. The customer service is hit and miss but that is everywhere now days. Just have to remember that if you go in and are gonna need assistance that your gonna have to wait upwards of 15-20 minutes to start getting the help you need. The day before the delivery I went into the store to purchase a cover for the mower and stopped by the counter to verify the delivery time. I told her there were 4 of them when I made the purchase and she said "yea there were a bunch in the back storage room too last week, whoever sold it to you messed the order up". I go here a lot. It's great if you know what you're looking for and it is in stock (and they have a lot in stock). Customer service isn't that great. They try, but fall short of the mark. Seems like the staff just isn't that knowledgeable about the products they are selling. And sometimes, staff is either too busy or isn't around to assist. For nursery needs, I'd much rather drive out of town where I know I'm going to get personalized service. And for appliances, there are places in-town that will take much better care of you at competitive prices. But like I said, they have a lot in stock. And if I'm working on a home-improvement project, I always end up dropping a pretty penny here as it saves me a trip to Columbia or Florence. read more

I purchased a gallon of Valspar cement sealer from Lowe's Store #0626 on 9/28/17. While I was painting my carport floor, the paint started blistering. I immediately took the paint back to Lowe's. At the refund center, they bluntly told me that they do not take back pre-mixed paint. I insisted on talking to someone else. The lady picked up the phone and talked to someone, then she me told that he said that I had probably left the paint in my truck too long and let it dry out. The paint had not even been in my truck before it blistered. I had purchased it, used some of it, and brought it back on the same day. Then they told me to call the toll free number for Valspar. Customer service at Valspar told me the lady at the paint dept. at Lowe's had sold me the wrong paint for my carport. Valspar will refund the money for the gallon paint, but I've spent around $200 on stripper and other materials to get the MESS up. Between the ignorance of the paint staff and the rudeness of the refund dept., I've had it with Lowe's. read more
