Unsafe conditions. I was checking out 1,000 lbs of rocks- the person checking out was trying to count how many and moved several bags which fell onto my husband's leg. While trying to help keep the stacks from falling- she toppled 3 other bags. There was no acknowledgment that she had done it. It also took her 5 attempts to count the 20 rocks. Top tier. I asked a guy in a red vest where the drywall was. He didn't just tell me--this man led me, like Gandalf through the Mines of Moria. I felt safe. Enlightened. Emotionally supported. Worst Customer Service. Ordered 2 items that showed available for delivery next day. One item showed up, the second did not. Should have been on the same truck. When I asked , I was told that it was coming on a different truck a little later that same afternoon. That evening after 5pm I checked my order status... delivery is now scheduled for tomorrow. I called the NORFOLK VA #1065 store to ask where my item was. The CS told me it was not her problem... that they use a 3rd party delivery group out of Richmond and they could do nothing about it. When I asked for more info, she hung up on me. Frustrated to say the least. Status on the website showed my item would be delivered between 2 - 6 pm. At 7:30 I called the NORFOLK VA STORE #1065. After listening to the phone ring for over 10 min someone finally answered. I explained I was missing an item that was supposed to be delivered by now. I gave the order # and was told they could not give me status because the Transport Mgr had left for the day. Apparently no one else has the magical keys to the Transport Kingdom. When I asked to speak to the STORE #1065 manager on duty, I was told they don't have one.... she goes home at 5pm. When I asked to cancel the order, the CS said she couldn't figure out how to do that . I asked again for a Manager....she hung up on me. Over the last year I would estimate that our family may have spent more than $7,000 in the Lowes of my area for various projects. Bathroom replacements, new metal fence for the backyard, appliances, landscaping products.....a lot of different stuff. Little concerns always happen.... crooked boards... a couple of bags of already hardened concrete...slightly bent metal fence gate.....short count on mulch bags.... all little annoying but not deal breakers. But this total disregard for any form of Customer Service or satisfaction is a deal breaker for sure. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. I honestly cannot believe this associate is allowed to work there. This is not the first time I've witnessed poor customer service from this individual, but this incident was so bad that I'm taking time out of my busy schedule to report it. I went into the store looking for galvanized hanger straps that I've purchased from Lowe's before. I asked one associate if he could help me find them. He actually tried--he looked online and seemed new--so I appreciated his effort even though he couldn't locate the item. He then asked another associate if he knew what aisle it was on. This is where everything went downhill. The second associate claimed he knew exactly what I was talking about but said the store didn't sell it. I told him I had purchased it there previously. His response was unbelievable: "If you bought it here before, you'd know where it was." My tone immediately shifted. I told him that if he didn't know where it was or wasn't willing to help, I would just find it myself. He then replied: "It's not that I don't know where it is, it's you don't know where it is." At that point, I was furious. I told him he was the rudest associate I had ever encountered and needed training. As I walked away, he added: "You're talking all that while you're walking away." I was shocked. I actually turned back and said, "I'm back--now what?" But I quickly gathered myself and realized he wasn't worth it. I let him antagonize me into almost escalating a situation that could have gotten out of hand. While I would love to say I'll never shop at this location again, that wouldn't be true. I understand good companies sometimes have bad employees. But it is the company's responsibility to ensure employees don't feel comfortable displaying this kind of unprofessional behavior. What makes this worse is that just the previous week, I asked for a manager at this same location to compliment a paint-desk employee for going above and beyond. He was the best Lowe's employee I've ever encountered. So the contrast is shocking. One very important detail: when I asked the rude associate for his name, he lied and said his name was "Byrd." When I went to the customer service desk to file a complaint, the manager and three employees all said no one by that name worked there. Once I described him (not wearing a vest or any Lowe's uniform), they chuckled like they already knew exactly who I was referring to--and were not surprised. His actual name is Carter. The time was the height of the beginning of the pandemic. One of my best friend's lifelong friends, who was my age & had my same health problems, went shopping & became one of the first Virginia Beach Covid victims. So being in numerous high risk categories, no way was I going inside anywhere. We were in that early summer heat wave & if I couldn't go anywhere, I at least wanted to sit on the deck with the dogs. Shopping online for a large commercial fan to combat the heat, I found the perfect one at Lowe's. I could order online & have curbside pickup at the store. That was important since it was massively heavy. In the past I had bought numerous appliances & such from Lowe's. My now defunct business had done warranty work for them. So I knew they sold quality products. I placed the order & waited. My excitement was evident when I received a notification that the store had it ready for Pickup. I let the back seat of my SUV down and headed to the store, thinking it would be a relatively quick turnaround to return home. Boy, was I wrong!! I pulled into the loading zone & let them know I was there. Then I waited, and waited, and waited. Finally I called the store's customer service desk and the person answering wasn't nice. I was told to pull into a pickup parking space and wait. That I did, then waited, waited and waited. Calling the customer service desk again I was rudely told that he had customers. In a defeated voice I said "But I'm a customer too." It didn't seem to matter. It was very hot. I had no water and was completely miserable. I started watching the clock. The wait time had already passed 90 minutes. Finally in tears I called again and begged him to bring my order. "Please, please! I'm a senior citizen, in bad health & a longtime Lowe's customer." When someone finally brought out my fan box it took a little over 5 minutes from the time he walked out the store door to the time he went back inside. But I was a wreck. Ad a home owner I come to Lowe's often to purchase many items for my home improvement projects and my gardening needs. The prices are pretty average, inventory can be a hit or miss and service is sub par. When you need help on the floor most employees are no where to be found and when you do find one they advise they will call for help or may get a finger, pointing you to a random direction. . The service is somewhat better in the paint department. The check out process has become more and more impersonal and most times you stand on a line and then are pointed to self check out. On a positive note, there is plenty of parking, they always have soil and normally have a good variety of plants and pretty flowers! Mike (asst mgr) and Terri redeemed my previously terrible Lowe's experiences, offering fantastic customer service and empathetic care. I'm a bargain shopper that does extensive prep and research ahead of store visits. On July 5th, I was on a mission to buy a grill, desperate to re-enter my family's good graces from punting the task too long. I discovered 2 commercial grade Char-Broil floor models that weren't showing up online, retail $450 each. One had severe physical damage, the other was missing 2 ceramic grates and the lower right door. Opportunity was knocking. When I asked Terri if I can buy a floor model, she said it's not even showing up in their internal system so I'd need manager approval. Enter Mike! Me: "can I buy a floor model?" Mike: "sure" Me: "can I do the work of grabbing grates/door from the damaged grill and installing on this one?" Mike: "sure, I'll help you!" Me: "since it's a floor model that's seen wear, is it possible to receive a discount?" Mike: "you bet - how's say 40% off sound?" Even though I had to order the drip tray and ir grill scraper from Char-Broil's website, Mike and Terri helped our family celebrate July 4th (ish) in grand grilled food fashion while saving cash. This review was for an over the phone transaction that my contractor later picked up. This was my first time using this Lowes in over 5 years. I called Lowes with the specific item needed to order. The appliance staff confirmed the item was in stock. There was some confusion on if the microwave unit was counter, or built in. I paid by credit card. My contractor picked up the unit that was prepared for him. However the unit was not correct and returned on the spot. Everything was handled professionally and credit applied. And the site stated there may be a small delay in gathering the stuff; no problem, I wasn't working the project immediately anyway. Six days later, I got notification it was ready for pick up. Tried using the curbside pick-up. The number once transferred rang unanswered looping back to the menu eventually. I repeated this several times using the option 2 as told on the recording and also using the sequence described on the sign. Neither worked any better. And I am suspect that is often the case judging from no one else in the curbside spots still with the cars. I gave up and went inside. DUH,,, lady you are holding the receipt for the online order. After about 20 minutes, she returned stating they'd be right up (translation is another 15 minutes). My guess is the stuff was never pulled. Eventually the forklift brought a pallet up and loaded it. After all this, and trying to keep all the engagements light hearted, I got home to find they'd shorted me on the pavers. I know I should go back and get a refund or the pavers. Lowes as company is trash with no true customer service or care on how their products last. We had a privacy fence installed by them. A fence rated for 30 years is falling apart less than 2 years. With posts coming out of the ground and the lock mechanism falling apart. I was advised by Lowe's to just hire a local handy man to fix the crappy job the installers did. Okay, we've been here twice. The first time we went to return the incorrect light bulbs my husband bought. We were ignored for 25 minutes as I watched the middle aged female employee rudely help the elderly gentleman in front of me- that was, she was rude until he mentioned where he worked. Then she was trying to get application information so she could apply to his workplace instead. After she helped him, she walked away from the desk and never came back to help us. No eye contact, no "I'll be right back". The other women at costumer service were all on the phone for the entire 25 min wait. We ended up keeping the incorrect light bulbs. The second time we went to Lowe's, the cashier was incredibly rude. (I was born and raised in Connecticut, so rude doesn't usually phase me. But dang she was on another level). The lady working the paint desk wouldn't stop trying to up sell everything after I told her many times I just bought a house and don't have money for the top of the line. I will never set foot in another Lowes. My wife purchased a deck for me when I retired from the Air Force. The deck was made by Trex, she made that choice because of the low maintenance. The deck looked great at first, until we start noticing the boards started warping and falling off. We contacted Trex to see if they would honor the warranty. We sent pictures of the damage, Trex said the warranty was void due to the fact that the deck was installed improperly. Apparently the contractor Lowes hired used nails instead of the required hardware. He basically used cheaper materials and pocketed the difference. On the day of install we found out the screen was not in, door was installed and for a month and many calls we were told that the screen was at multiple locations, and they would get it tomorrow, over and over we heard empty promises until they stop answering calls. I actually like this branch.The entire store looks amazing, it is neat, clean and well displayed merchandise. I've been here a couple of times and always find the things that I wanted. Its a huge place and you better know what exactly you need. The staff will politely direct you to the exact location of the product. If you're not so sure I suggest to ask an assistance and don't assume that they will come to you. I'm not too crazy with the selection of the products however the store have something that they could offer that other competitors don't have. In my recent visit, I bought some wooden shelves and toilet bowl seat. I am very well satisfied of the products. In fact, it fits perfectly well and looks amazing. Love the way it is. I have no complaint with regards to the customer service. I thought the staff is polite and helpful. They're also knowledgeable and leads you to the right department. To whom this may concern, I am very appalled at the service I have received at the Military Highway Lowes in Norfolk Virginia. I have been a dedicated customer to this location for at least 5 years because of your dedication to military families. (My husband is active duty military) We ordered new wood floors and carpet on June 13th. We were told it should arrive within 2 or 3 weeks. This week I called Monday to find out the status. I hear that boxes containing my wood floors were delivered without labels so they had to "Search the entire store but were thankfully able to find it" but they could deliver the whole wood flooring shipment to our home to get it acclimated while we waited for the carpet to arrive Wednesday. They delivered the wood floors yesterday but we find out several boxes are still missing. Not to mention the quarter round is still MIA.   I was supposed to receive a callback Thursday morning to verify the carpet was received where I ended up calling to find out they still didn't know where it was. I found out this morning from the vendor, it was still being made this week and was just completed today and will be on the shipment truck to Norfolk in 7-9 business days.  I was prepared to cancel the carpet order for a similar carpet on Monday but the Norfolk store was INSISTENT that it was arriving this Wednesday.  So we have part of our wood flooring at our house, the carpet isn't going to be shipped until Monday, and the quarter round is still missing.  On top of all of this I have asked over 2 dozen times, please call me! My husband is working at the hospital with patients and cannot be interrupted. He does not know what is going on and it will be difficult to contact him. After a week and a half, the MOD last night finally made sure that my number was in there because they continued to call my husband, he was forced to leave a patient to answer a phone just to tell them to call me. I told the guys and made very CLEAR to call the property manager to be there for the delivery. I repeated her name and number not once but twice!!!!! I do not know if there is sexism, if they are illiterate or just refuse to be of help to me.  They texted once again, my husband that the wood flooring was being delivered to the house in 10 minutes. Again he had to frantically leave a patient to call me to call the property manager to be there in 5 minutes (we currently live in Alexandria!!!).   I am deeply troubled by the work from your employees and am prepared to not only never shop at Lowes again but spread the word throughout the military community about how terrible your service is towards military customers.  We have purchased countless bags of mulch, seed, half a dozen large appliances, had our fence installed and now we thought we could entrust our floors for our entire 2 story 4 room rental with you but we were clearly very wrong!!! We went through Lowe's to have hardwood and carpet installed. First we were told they would have to order the wood and they had the carpet in the store already. A week and a half later they give us install dates for the wood on a separate day from the carpet. My husband had to pick up the wood himself and take it to the house. The day the wood installer came he immediately noticed we were missing the transition pieces. So my husband went to Lowe's to pick them up and the customer service there said my husband was lying and was given all the pieces the day prior. Finally they went to take a look in the back and said someone fat fingered something and those pieces were sent to the installers office, which never arrived. So now we have an unfinished dining room and who knows when we will get it finished. Next we had our carpet install date. We were told multiple times that the carpet had arrived (they did have to order it). One hour before the installer was supposed to be there, Lowe's called us and informed us our carpet was indeed not there, and were told we could get carpet that was more expensive for free. That changed quickly from free to paying "half" the cost to upgrade the carpet they never ordered. I will never go through Lowe's to do any home improvement projects ever again. read more

I really don't hate or love this location but here we go.. I have visited this Lowe's for a few different things like light bulbs, grilling supplies, bathroom hardware, you name it. I've always kinda just helped myself or I'll have my husband with me if I don't know something and if we both don't know we kinda just figure it out on our own because we don't feel like going to look for anyone to help us. Customer service here isn't the best and from the outside lookin in, it seems that they may be understaffed. The lines have been long a few times that I've visited... longer waits in comparison to their competitors. Anyway, I come here when my favorite hardware store doesn't have what I need. read more

I went to Lowes (Norfolk location) yesterday to purchase a Wagner Control Pro 130 Electric Stationary Airless Paint Sprayer.  It was listed online at a discounted price of $219.00.  The site indicated there were two sprayers available for in-store purchase. I couldn't find that model on the shelf, so I solicited help from an associate at the paint counter.  I gave him the item number (listed online), and he went to the back of the store, where they store incoming shipments, to check.  He returned after 15 minutes and said he couldn't find any.  He also revealed that they had received 4 of the sprayers several days ago, but he was unable to locate them.  I asked if he thought they were stuck on a pallet somewhere, and hadn't been released for purchase.  He didn't know.  I asked if I could purchase one for pickup later, at the sale price.  He didn't know.  I asked if he could check the Battlefield store, to see if they had that model. He checked, and informed me they had 4 sprayers at that location.  I thanked him, and went to the Battlefield store......I encountered the exact same problem.  Well, not to be outdone, I went home determined to make the purchase online.  Well, whattaya know! Pickup is available (that didn't work). Shipping is unavailable.  But, I could have it delivered to my house for $79.00.  I probably spent that driving from store to store, and waiting for the associates to come with nothing. Lowes, may I make a suggestion?  Wait until the item is available to the public, before hanging out the 'for sale' sign.  It was quite a frustrating day. read more

My oh my....ok. Lets start at the beginning. Our top load washer went kaput after about 10 years. As always we did our research, visited SEVERAL stores looking for the right replacement and after about two weeks of searching we settled on a GE Washer from Lowes. The Good: Excellent price, friendly staff (Ill get back to that later) The Bad: Where to begin. When we purchased the washer, we made sure to update our address in their system, but for some reason the third party company used for delivery NEVER got the corrected information. Our washer was scheduled to be delivered to an address that was over 10 years old! It was later discovered that the "friendly" associate that sold us the washer never corrected our information. Next, on the day of delivery, (Saturday) NO WASHER!!!! I called the delivery company and was told that when their driver arrived at the store that morning, there was NO WASHER for him to pick up! I immediately went to the store. I spoke with the two managers on duty and they assured me that the mistake was that of the delivery company and not theirs (Yeah, ok).I did , however, receive a discount on my purchase for the inconvenience. I was ASSURED that we would be taken care of FIRST THING the next day. I called Sunday morning to make sure that our item was scheduled for deIivery. (I must admit that by this point I had NO CONFIDENCE in the staff at this location.) I was assured ONCE AGAIN that it was and would be on the way shortly. Our washer arrived at 730pm (Sunday night) This was a really frustrating experience and I doubt I will ever use your delivery service again. You MUST do better if you want to keep your customers. read more

Worst Lowe's I've ever been to; more specifically, the older African American woman working the paint counter. I thought there was a general color for ceiling paint, and after she told me that there wasn't, I got total attitude from her in the process of trying to figure it out. Apparently it would have killed her to smile at all and when I finally got the color from my landlord, she VERY RUDELY asked me what brand. I told her Sherwin Williams Shell with an Eggshell finish, not knowing that Sherwin Williams WASNT the brand, to which she gave me attitude AGAIN! She just kept repeating herself and giving me sass because SHE didn't know how to explain it to me. Finally, I got what she was trying to tell me, but at that point I shouldn't have even given them my business. I've NEVER seen someone give such rude service to their customers. read more
