We shop here often. They have a great selection of seasonal decor right now. The Halloween decor is always fun to browse. I didn't grab a cart at first but I found myself wandering around the garden center while waiting on the other half to shop and found some plants that had to come home with me so a very nice associate noticed and went and got me a cart (all be it a loud rickety cart) . We used the self checkouts and I have mixed feelings about them, but they work. I still like having the option of a cashier person. Customer service was terrible. The store hours at the Mobile, Alabama location on Airport Blvd (Schillingers road) states that the store opens at 6:00 am. I went to go to the store at 6:00 am and the door was closed and locked, after letting other customers through the door. The lady at the front desk (white female, maybe 60+) ask to see my ID through the door. After showing her my ID, she then stated that she doesn't know me. Essentially, she racially profiled me (I am a black male, mid-30s). She opened the door soon after I mentioned its 6:02 am and we talked about the situation. I told her she was wrong and she made the excuse that someone was recently held at gunpoint. She eventually invited me to come in but I refused and said I prefer to go somewhere else. I'm one of those rare females that actually loves going to Lowe's. I'm all about some home improvement and house projects, so this is a wonderland for me. This particular location is great. The employees always ask if I need assistance. They don't mind cutting lumber for me, which I only ever get it cut down enough to fit inside my 4Runner and then cut it to my own measurements when I get home. I docked a star today for two reasons: 1 - The bathrooms were out of order. Both bathrooms. I love this Lowes location in general, but I had a VERY bad experience with a recent transaction. My issue is with the countertop replacement I had done recently, and with Lowes customer service department. The countertops were not made correctly, and it was never explained to me whether the issue was with the order made to the manufacturer (which would be the fault of the guy who made the measurements and submitted the order), or with the company that makes the countertops. This caused a delay of three weeks before they were installed, and I was never told who had made the error. Were they re-made correctly? No. I had finally gotten fed up and said I would take them as is. (They fit, but several things were wrong such as the backsplash and curved vs straight corners). Then during the demo phase (removal of old countertops), the installer damaged one of my base cabinets, chipping the top of the base in 4 places and causing a crack in the maple frame from the top downward over 14". Calling the toll free customer service number is ridiculous. I did it three different times, and the best wait time I experienced was an hour and 40 minutes. I was finally assigned a customer service person who I could call directly, hoping they would send someone to repair the damage and perhaps offer compensation for the delays, damage, incorrect way they were cut, and me being willing to compromise and take them as is. She said her supervisor would have to review the issue but every time I spoke to her (over several weeks), that supervisor was "in meetings all day". Finally, four weeks after the countertops were installed, I was told that they would offer a 20% refund to compensate for the issues. The quotes I have received to repair the damage to my cabinet and to address the issues with the backsplash eat up over half of that. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Lowes at this location for replacing your countertops. And since I assume that the toll free number for customer service cover all Lowes location, all I can say is that I hope you never have need to call them. read more

I had to make a night run to Lowe's so I could get a few items for the house. Lowe's is normally a one stop shop for 90% of what I need for home repairs. The issue I have with this location is customer service. It's basically a coin flip when you ask for assistance because some workers are knowledgeable and some are there to just take up space. Today I went to Lowe's to get some Mother's Day plants for our family members. In the outdoor area Ryan checked me out and another lady helped me. Both were Great. Ryan also helped me to my car. On the way to the car, an elderly Man with a Korean War cap on was going to try and lift a bag of soil into his truck. I offered to help him put it in the truck bed. He had a cane and I'm disabled. Ryan saw what was happening and ran to put it in the truck with ease and a smile. It's so Wonderful that Ryan went out of His way to help, was courteous and knowledgeable. Would suggest having the employees retrained at data entry. Many issues with management being ninja's and lurking in the shadows but never coming out to fix problems leaving the front end feeling alone on an island unable to help. Also, the store itself is well lit however the rear towards the lumber area has a few lightbulbs out. read more

My parents and I shopped online to choose a riding lawn mower for my dad. We knew the one we wanted and just wanted to go to the store and see if it was the right fit for him so we could purchase it and take it home the same day. We already left the Lowe's on I-65 Service Road for terrible service and this place wasn't any better. As soon as we showed up, we went to the lawn mower section to purchase our lawn mower. We stood there for 10 MINUTES waiting on someone. FInally, a guy shows up and helps the guys who showed up after us. We were about to go but finally someone came to help us (After taking a sip of his water, shrugging his shoulders and letting out a sigh). From the first moment he walked up to us, we could tell that he did not want to help us. He just stood there and stared at us for 10 seconds and finally said, "What do y'all need?". So my mom said we needed to buy a lawn mower. My dad asked a simple question about the lawn mower before he purchased it and the guy answered the question in such a manner as if my dad was stupid. I was truly offended. I knew my father wanted the lawn mower so I kept trying to deal with his attitude. He finally gave me a number and sent me own my way to customer service. As I stood in line at customer service (which was crowded), there were only 2 people helping while 3 stood off to the side talking. After standing there for 5 minutes, they skipped me for another woman. I finally decided enough was enough and left. And I never plan to return again. read more

If I ever have to shop at a Lowes again I think I'll go out of my way and go to the one in Tillman's Corner or the beltline store but only if I absolutely positively have to. This Lowe's on Shillinger Rd. and Airport Blvd. just lost a $2,000 sale and any future business of mine. Here's my dilemma: They bungled a new washing machine and dryer combo. The washing machine had to be ordered and the dryer they had in stock and it was going to be held until the washing machine came in and would deliver both at the same time. Well, the day came and they delivered my washing machine but no dryer. As it turns out the dryer that I HAD BOUGHT that was in stock, was rightfully mine and was supposed to deliver with my washing machine some dip-(excrement) had sold it about a week earlier!! Fuming mad, I called the manager thinking they could have one delivered from their beltline store since I was told they had 4 in stock there. Much to my surprise the manager said I would have to get a refund, DRIVE over to that location, buy one there and have to coordinate a delivery with them. BULL (EXPLETIVE)!!! They screwed my order up, THEY should fix it!!! On top of all that the manager never even said "I'm sorry", "let me knock $100 off for this mess up" "I'll fix this" or anything that a good manager was supposed to do! I went, got my money back and proceeded straight to Home Depot just down the road, purchased a new washer and dryer there and got fantastic customer service I don't know what happened at this Lowe's location as it used to be very good. One thing it had back then were a few more "gray hairs" who gave fantastic customer service but nowadays its mostly young millennials who move about like sloths and have an apathetic look on their faces like they couldn't care less if the sun came up! This is a review for the Spanish Fort Lowes. Not the one in Mobile. I went to the one and only live person doing checkout at about 11 AM on January 3, 2016. I had about $200 worth of merchandise in my cart and I was the third person in line. I waited and watched for any movement from the cashier. She seemed to be in some sort of catatonic state. She appeared to be staring at her register as if she was attempting to figure out how to use it. Finally the person right in front me went over to use the self-service checkout. I do not use the self-service checkouts. For whatever reason, they intimidate me. So I stood there watching the cashier do nothing. Finally I left my cart and drove down to the Home Depot and got approximately what I wanted. I do hope, if indeed the cashier had a medical emergency, that she got help. If she was that incompetent, then I hope Lowe's finds another position in the store that she has the mental and physical capacity to do the job. I have made my last visit to this Lowes. read more

I had the worst experience with the Kendal Wallace iInstalation manager at Lowes on Schillinger Rd. and Airport Blvd in Mobile this past year. Their management in the installation department was irresponsible and a textbook case of what not to do in customer service. It took my wife and I over 20 phone calls and 8 months to get our plantation shutter installed. In the end all we received for our hours of calling and taking off work to wait on them was pitiful excuses and a measly 10% discount off the cost. We purchased plantation shutters to be installed in our newly constructed home in September. We had to call them several time to even get them to come out and measure. When we left a message the would not call back for weeks until I would call again. This was just the beginning of the issues. After they got our money it again took several phone calls to get the installer out. When they finally came to install the shutter two months later they were not able to complete the project because of incorrect measurements. We were then put through 5 months of unreturned calls and incompetent people handling the situation. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. One of the worst experiences I've ever had with customer service. No one wanted to help with a call in. One girl at PRO SERVICES DESK told me that I had to go to customer service to do a call in. The girl there told me she couldn't do it and paged a guy to come do it. He came up there about ten minutes later, made a phone call for some unknown reason, talked to two different employees including the girl that pages him for me, then left the desk and walked towards the back of the store again. I asked her if that was the guy that was supposed to do the call in and she said yes and she would page him again, yet failed to do so. I had to go walk and find him and tell him he was supposed to do a call in for me. He said "I am?" He finally came up to the counter again but then proceeded to helping another customer as if I hadn't even existed. He finally told her to ring me up and made the phone call to my supervisor for the call in. Employees saw me rolling a cart of lumber yet they walked right into my path and I had to veer around them or stop so they could get by. I'm well versed in retail and I know you always move out of the path of a customer even if you were there first. After all, they wouldn't have paycheck a if it weren't for their customers. I NEVER want to step foot in this place again. Total transaction time equated to just under 45 minutes from the time I arrived at the pro desk to the time I exited the store. Ridiculous. read more
