Today I visited Ace in Miami, OK, to have my #100 propane tank refilled. I know I still had about…read more10 gallons of propane in the tank, but according to the store manager the store policy is they charge for the size of tank not by how many gallons it takes to refill. In my case today, I had the tank refilled at another location and only needed 11 gallons. If I had refilled the tank at Ace Hardware in Miami, I would have paid for the remaining 10 or so gallons in the tank...which I already owned. I believe this policy is not right. The tank is able to be topped off and I should only pay for that amount. I have been a Ace customer for several years, but based on my experience today, I will not shop at Ace Hardware again.

Yes, it's a hardware store, so if you need some nuts and bolts and whatnot, they have that. But they ALSO have a really cool candy store AND a really neat Harry Potter area, AND a Wild West area, and a really great selection of cute gifts etc. We left with zero hardware, but several Christmas gifts, a big box of Red Hots and some delicious peanut brittle. When I tried to return materials, they invented damages that likely were incurred during delivery and refused the return. My experience with this vendor makes the case AGAINST buying from a local vendor. The complaint process and return policies were negligible. The staff were never rude, but it was clear that I did not fit their desired customer profile, which was grisly old white guys. Nope! I won't return to this establishment.
