Was totally misled by the store employee at the garage door openers. We realized when we got home the garage door opener was not going to work because we needed the extension chain and of course the store doesn't carry it. I return the item and told Mark at the counter about the situation and instead apologizing he said we can't know everything about all products in the store. I'm not even quite sure why we came here. I think it was because my dad is itching to buy a new mower and with the colder weather setting in you can get a deal. That or maybe it was a grill. I'm not even sure. I turn into a toddler when I have to go into a hardware store without the need to actually purchase anything. I drag my feet, dawdle, and make up games in my head to pass the time. We browsed the aisles for a bit and what they had left with their inventory of what my dad was seeking. Ultimately we ended up not finding what he wanted and left. We ordered decorative trees for Christmas on 12/7 with a promise date of 12/10. Trees received 12/23. Now they won't return them because it's after Christmas. They don't care about their customers only their policy. I tried to explain that their shipping issues weren't my problem. Managers don't care. Policy is policy. Thank you for your wonderful customer service. So bottom line don't order holiday items online. If they screw up it's your fault and you have to drop everything to return before the holiday. Vlad, the greeter/manager, noted that he did what he could about getting folks to mask, which was good news and most were masked. I had the most horrendous customer service experience at this Lowe's. I purchased two vanity lights, when I got home, one was broken in the box. I called the store knowing they didn't have anymore in stock. First off, customer service said they couldn't order me a replacement and transferred me to electrical. When I spoke to electrical, he said they didn't have and didn't have any coming in, no idea when they would get a replacement. He said I could check lowes.com. Then he offered to check the Johnstown and State College stores. I asked if it could be shipped to the Altoona store. To which I was told no, because Lowe's charges itself $70 to ship an item store to store. Which is ridiculous and cannot possibly be true. Nonetheless, I would either have to waste my own gas driving to the Johnstown or State College store. Or order my own replacement on Lowe's.com and then return the damaged item. Which is what I had to do. Had I not already installed the one that wasn't damaged, I would have returned both and shopped elsewhere. I have only shopped at Lowe's for home improvement and repair products for years, but I will be shopping elsewhere from now on. I worked in retail for 8 years and this is not how customer service should would. The Lowe's representative should have ordered a replacement from one of the other stores without question or comment. Or ordered a replacement from Lowes.com themselves. read more

Curbside pickup service sucks. Ordering on their app went fine and after getting an email and a phone call that my order was ready, I clicked the "on the way" button as I left home, which was supposed to have my order ready to go and reduce pickup wait time. About 15 minutes later I arrived, pulled into a numbered pickup spot in the parking lot and checked in using Lowes App. There were 6 pickup spaces in the lot. When I got there. All were empty when I pulled in. Nothing happened for 20 minutes (remember they were notified by their app that I was on the way to the pickup and I checked in upon arrival with the App). After 20 minutes of waiting I suddenly got an email thanking me for picking up my order. I immediately called the store and was transferred to the pick up desk. The call went unanswered for over 30 rings. The person who finally answered was very annoyed and told me someone would be out with my order "when they can". About 5 minutes later (we are now about 40 minutes into waiting for pickup) someone from the store called me and told me that my order was already picked up. This resulted in me having to go into the store (during the guaranteed contactless pickup) where I immediately spotted my order on the floor behind the desk and pointed it out to the employees. It only took about 10 minutes more for Lowe's employees to verify that they did have my order, they had screwed up royally and they would bring it out to my car. So much for contactless pickups. I guess the pandemic and their concern for customers is getting old. read more

Altoona store is awful. We are remodeling a house. So far we have returned 3 vanities that were smashed, a bathtub that had the end completely broken, a toilet that was broken, and today I purchased replacement globes for lights that were very delicate. They didn't wrap them! I was unloading a big order and should have been watching them so they do their job I guess. Only stacked them and put them in a bag. Needless to say all but one was shattered when I got home. Pathetic store. No one to help you. One old man stood in the middle of the aisle and just yelled for help until someone finally came. I hate Altoona Lowes. I only gave it one star because you have to. read more

The "Absolute Worst" place to shop, have been my experiences ! (40 yr customer) . This store and it's employees seems to get "worse" each and every time I visit. The newly relocated items are beyond a "normal" person's thinking. The employee's are definitely rude and don't seem to care if you need help or not. They pass by, avoiding eye contact, or even a "polite", "may I help you find something Sir" !!! My biggest complaint lately, is the "total lack of respect," when it comes to interacting with the employees. DO NOT address me as: "honey", "what's up buddy", "what's happening boss", or "what da you need pal"! I'm closing out my account ! read more

STAY CLEAR of Lowe's in Altoona...shop Home Depot instead. Customer service experience is NIGHT & DAY!! You want to feel like a valued-customer? Home Depot is your answer. I called Lowes for a replacement part for a Whirlpool dishwasher that I bought from them. I got this elaborate song & dance from the appliance associate that they couldn't sell me parts, but that I had to place an online-order-only to get what I needed. I requested to speak to the store manager after hearing this BS. A 'Mark' picked up and said that he was 'a manager', but wouldn't say if he was the STORE manager. I explained again and got the same rigmarole. When I explained that I no longer do online-purchases because of having my identity stolen, he basically dismissed me and said that he wouldn't be able to sell me any parts or help me further. "That's funny. You guys had no problem taking my cash when I came in and ordered the dishwasher from your online store and had to wait 2 weeks for it, and you took my cash then at the front service desk." He had no response to that, just silence. At that point, I requested the direct phone number for the district manager to take the matter up with him for the ABSOLUTE ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE I was getting. He put me on hold and then conveniently hung up on me 1 minute into the hold. I immediately called back and asked for him, told him who I was and his tone was, "Oh, yeah, right, the phone number." He knew who it was and what he had done on purpose by the tone in his voice. So, I call the phone number he gave. Guess what? Not the DM's direct phone number as I requested, but the number to the State College store. WTH?!?! (Lesson - Do NOT believe anything that comes out of the mouths of Lowe's-Altoona store employees) Explained the situation AGAIN to the CS rep at State College. She was aghast! She said that she wasn't sure WHO I spoke with but everything I was told was NOT true. That Lowe's DOES and WILL order parts for customers if they prefer to come into the store to pay for them in cash and in person. That they do it all the time. Wow!! I was beside myself. read more

Today had a wonderful experience at the Altoona Lowes. Bridget helped me with a microwave and she was down by the light section. She did not have to stop with what she was doing but she did and I really appreciated it. 2 weeks ago I was in the faucet and plumbing area asked an older gentleman about a piece for my shower because of being handicapped. He said I have no idea turned around and walked away from me. Found the piece online that I needed. Then called in to ask another question about my shower got the same jerk who I had talked to in Lowes before could tell by his mannerism. A tall thin man with a poor bedside manner never had someone so rude before. Would have rated a 1 if I would have gone just by how I was treated by him. read more

bought a grill big sign spend more the 399 get free delivery and old grill hauled out for free. set up delivery for between 4 and 6 pm called me at 100am for delivery, FORGOT THE SALES PEOPLE TRIED TALKING ME OUT OF DELIVERY. When they got there said they don't take old grill surprise not to me i taken a picture of the sign to haul out for free. Gottch ya .
