A great experience! Authentic, well prepared food that you enjoy sitting along the pedestrian way in Old Town (Altstadt). Service is friendly and prompt and they speak English of course.

"Here's to good friends, tonight is kinda special The beer we'll pour Must say something more somehow So tonight, tonight, let it be Lowenbrau!" If you grew up in the 80s in America, you knew this jingle for a beer that you can no longer get, at least where I'm from. Low and behold a Lowenbrau pub in Heidelberg. Great food, gut bomb German grub and that's a good thing! Mushroom soup, stuffed cabbage, schnitzel etc... great beer and prompt efficient service. Love this place!

    Beer!

Nice location, good beer, decent German food. Wanted to go because I remember Löwenbräu from 70s. FYI... if you sit outside you can only order half liter steins, not the smaller glasses. Decent option if you're lazy, but there is better food in town.

Located in the heart of the city of Heidelberg and Germany, we had a good experience here and our waiter Christian was super helpful. My husband ordered a pork knuckle plate which came with Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. I ordered the farmers sausage plate which came with German sausages, wursts, German potato dumplings and sauerkraut. It was a lovely evening to sit outside and people-watch while we enjoyed our dinners. Don't forget to get their liter steins of beer!

This touristy restaurant specializes in Bavarian specialties such as variety of schnitzel and similar meat heavy dishes. Lowenbrau is on tap of course, but they have other beer varieties available on tap and in bottles as well as small selection of local wines and spirits. Service is very friendly with English speaking staff, but they're so nice that they'll be patient if you attempt to use your (bad) German. Location is prime for people watching and proximity to all Heidelberg attractions with big seating area outside in the summer. Chicken schnitzel is fantastic and served with vegetables and French Fries. Overall, great for people watching, fresh bier, and very friendly staff.

Service - 5 Value - 5 Food - 5 Staff - 10 This is a great place to get out of the cold and grab some good food and a beer at a decent price. The bartenders are extremely friendly and full of knowledge on what to do around Heidelberg. Very small and and romantic (that's what my wife says). I look forward to coming back.

The food here was very good. The waitress was very nice and helpful. There's outdoor and indoor seating. There's also a bathroom but it's only for customers. The restaurant is located by stores, a church, and other eateries but this got ranked high. Price is reasonable $11 per person

I've been coming here for many years. Always my first stop on my first night in Heidelberg. Wonderful basic Bavarian fare. Great service, food is very fresh and good! Excellent selection of beers. Stop by for a relaxing meal and you will not be disappointed! Always my first stop in Heidelberg for a Lowenbrau Oktoberfest. This establishment never disappoints.

Awesome. Right on the main Hauptstrasse among all the touristy shops and cafes. I had a quick lunch of some of the best Kohlrouladen I ever had with this amazing bacon gravy and puffy whipped potatoes. Very good service here also.

Awesome selection of beers - Löwenbräu, Franziskaner, Leffe and ,equally important, real homecooked food. The Goulash in particular was amazing and packed with flavour. They offer German cuisine and have a pretty varied menu. They offer everything from soups ( goulash, leek) and small plates (Toast Hawaii, baked Camembert with bread) to full meal - schnitzel, maultashen, schweinhexe and wurst. Prices were reasonable - small plates 6-8 euro and meals 9-15). The atmosphere was one of my favourites in town- I have lived here for about 8 years. It has a huge wood bar, sturdy wood tables, old iron light fixtures, and stained glass windows. If you are looking for a traditional old German pub with good service, great beer, and homecooked food, this is the place to be.

It's a nice restaurant at the heart of a pretty Old Town. They have English menu which I really find convenient for travellers. A very courteous man named Lorenzo served us. I ordered for Schnitzel with mushroom. The sauce was a little bit salty for my taste but the pork cutlet was really big. I recommend this restaurant especially if it's your first time to visit Heidelberg, Germany.

The weather was beautiful for sitting outside. I wish I had gotten our server's name because he was outstanding. Friendly, witty, and willing to help navigate the menu - he made our dining experience even better. We started with a couple of local wines that were amazing - a red and a rosé. Some bread and butter came to our table with our escargot starter and side salad. The bread and starter were delicious. Our snails were hot and garlicky with plenty of juice to sop up. The side salad was also very tasty and fresh. For our mains I went with the Schnitzelbank Platter and my lady went with the Pepper Schnitzel. My platter came with a local delicacy called saumagen, as well as roasted pork, sausage, roasted potatoes, and sauerkraut. The saumagen was the highlight for me. Our server was also excited we got it. It is a local offering consisting of various meats and other items wrapped up in a stomach and served as a loaf-style meat. The pepper schnitzel was also outstanding - the sauce was indeed peppery, but it didn't smother the schnitzel, which was breaded nicely and not dry, as some schnitzels can be. And after all that food, still, an apple strudel. This was so worth it. I don't even like sweets in the USA, but in Europe, they are something else. This was something else. We had a lot of great meals on our trip, but this was probably the best. Not just for the food, but for the overall experience, it's easy to see why this is the shining star in Heidelberg.

The food was outstanding authentic German cuisine with a twist. The garlic Schnitzel is truly made for garlic lovers like me! The mushroom schnitzel had a flavor explosion when it hits your pallet. The wait staff was very friendly and accomodating, especially to Americans who don't speak German!

Walking in felt like stepping back in time. I doubt much has changed about this place in decades, and that's entirely a compliment. We were seated near a window and the ambiance was everything you'd want, cozy, warm, and genuinely inviting. I loved the feel of it. Our server was very kind. Her English was limited, but she was gracious and patient as I attempted to speak German, and was generous enough to tell me I did well. It added to the charm of the whole experience. Now, the food. The potatoes that came with the schnitzel were the best German potatoes I've ever had. The schnitzel itself was delicious, exactly what you'd hope for. The cheese spaetzle was a highlight as well, rich and satisfying. Plan on sharing it. The one miss was the pizza my sister-in-law ordered, which was fine but felt out of place. Stick to the German classics and you won't be disappointed. Would love to return if I ever make it back to Heidelberg.

They check as appropriate and get what you need quickly. Our dinner was really good. We did have reservations. We even enjoyed some non-alcoholic beer. We had apple strudel for dessert, which was also really good. We were staying at the hotel, so just had to go upstairs after dinner. For the hotel - the only difficulty was the check in. We weren't sure where to go to check in. So we ended up asking the wait staff. We walked through the restaurant with our luggage to the the check in desk. Our room was comfortable and homey. The door required an old fashioned key to open. You can't beat the location being right by the old bridge.
