The Dr. in charge here was extremely un-proffessional. Now I have been to 5 dentist previously that all wanted to get their hands in there to make their money and had tons of work done and most of it failed, it was hard to recall it all in the exact steps and the Dr at Occlusal Rehab got extremely and I mean extremely angry, yelling at me about why I don't have the information he need and what a waste of time.... He wanted the Ortho records but after 2 months of requesting them from Ocean Orthodontics they just wouldn't send them, that was out of my control my dentist requested them over 5 times in the two months. Me in so much pain I had no choice but to book the consultation with Occlusal Centre without the records, One would think he could of at least took a look instead of yelling at me and giving me a look like the devil was in him and this is an understatement I felt his energy and it scared me. An older lady in the waiting room kept asking the receptionist what was going, she had to come in and tell the Dr. people were listening and he shot her a look of death and she left. He said he would not help and told me to leave. I was scared the whole time, I didn't get to say more the 3 sentences to him and he flipped a lid over not having records? Nothing to get mad about so I thought. I can tell he brings his home personality to the office so beware of this man. I am surprised no one else has made a similar review as I am sure I am not the only one. He is a power tripping man and it shows.

I attended Dr Vanessa Lee for a second opinion. I have a…read morerather large decision to make with regards to my teeth. The very qualified dentist I'm working with has become insistent that I crown all of my teeth. The Norris Dental office, though old and dingy, was clean - something that I take note of as a connoisseur of good dentistry. From the jump I was impressed by the front end care - only in a top-notch dental office would you be offered either room temp water or refrigerated... a detail usually offered in a high-end spa that was much appreciated by me. Further, I am a lip reader and as you can imagine, I have difficulty with masks. Luckily all but one person in this office accommodated my disability without hesitation. I was seated in a room facing the window which was not going to work for me given my need to read lips, yet Dr Lee made it work. She pulled up a chair facing me. We were able to make good eye contact and my lip reading was effortless. Dr Lee was compassionate and personable, patient and concerned. She asked good questions, assured me that I was in good hands with both the dentist I'm currently working with and herself as a possible alternative. She suggested a way that I could slow the process down which would minimize the fear, while she spoke of the genetic lottery: a loss I've had to live with. According to Dr Lee, I might not have been gifted with thick enamel or formidable gums. I have to think that she's right. Her comment was a first. It has been more common that I hear that the attrition/ state of my teeth is 'my fault'; a concept which I have heard repeated every other month for as long as I can remember. I've been blamed for brushing too hard, being heavy-handed with floss and of course, neglect - while nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, you read it right. I'm a fanatic. I have been going to dental hygiene every two to three months since I became an adult and responsible for me - and now, age 67, my entire mouth requires crowning - how can that be? I left feeling heard, feeling like I had options as to how to proceed, with my fears quelled. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr Vanessa Lee.

Although DR. Norris has retired, the new dentist, DR Wong is great. He is professional, friendly and gives you a sense of ease when treating you. A close and trusted friend recommended their dentist of 15 years - Dr Newitt - earlier this year when I didn't trust my other family dentist in Kitsilano anymore. Set above Chapters, this little dentist has a middle-of-the-road kinda look and feel, but it's Dr Newitt's professionalism, focus and no-nonsense approach that gets 5-stars. He doesn't chitter chatter whilst doing his work (which means he's focusing our your teeth! read: no errors!). He has his space observatory style magnification system, laser system and goodness knows whatever appropriately named dentistwizardry. I asked for more pain relief (I get nervous) and he obliged. He's a gentleman. My husband and I have been many times now for filling replacements, crown fitting/replacement, hygienist, mouth guard consultation - and each time I was delighted with the service. Dr Newitt will refer you to the best people in their field for larger more specialist jobs (braces, retainers, bone grafts). Why delighted? Whenever I had fillings elsewhere, there would be errors - they'd mess up and would have to keep going back (read: pay more). So far, Dr Newitt focuses on the job, and gets it done perfectly - first time. And that's the most important thing to me. And I hope to have a very long dental relationship with his practice, despite the 40 minute drive from Burnaby each time :)

I can't say enough about the exceptional care I received from Dr. Winter. The first time I met him…read morewas several years ago during what was truly the worst dental pain of my life. I had an agonizing root canal situation--the kind that even hospital morphine couldn't touch. I was in absolute misery. On that particular Saturday, Dr. Winter offered to meet me at his office that very evening or even on the Sunday, just to help me get out of that excruciating pain. What's even more remarkable is that he was even ready to arrange for his staff to come in as well, making sure he and his team could take care of me outside of normal hours. It's incredibly rare to find a dentist willing to go so far above and beyond, especially outside regular hours, and to bring in extra help just to ensure a patient is okay. Dr. Winter not only resolved the issue, but did so with a level of kindness and compassion that is truly extraordinary. If you need a dentist who genuinely cares and will go the extra mile, Dr. Winter is the one.

Despite my initial positive experience with Dr. Winter, it gives me no pleasure to write about the…read morereal problems I experienced with his work. Lower Right: Dr. Winter did not inform me that the bridge made by the lab was too long and didn't fit. Instead of returning it back to the lab, he proceeded with its installation by adjusting one of the existing teeth and slicing the side of another one without asking for my permission or even informing me. When the job was done, the bridge was sitting lower than the original teeth used to be, creating quite a visible gap with my upper teeth, and leaving me with pain, which I never had on this side before, and which he was not able to address despite many adjustments he made. The only response from him was: "Just avoid eating on this side." Common sense tells us that one doesn't go to a dentist to do a major work in order to acquire permanent pain. I would never recommend him as a dentist.
