"The Forgotten Patient" Worse hospital ever for the "I…read moreforgot you were here" people. Not just one time but for over five-six hours. I begged all that time "Can I please have some water?" I had the IV line (two the first sticks one "blew" a vein, blood was just pouring) inserted but no IV fluids bag installed. My veins were collapsing because I was DEHYDRATED! Never got fluids of any kind the entire time. I came in by ambulance and had an immediate CAT scan but the dye or contrast didn't go in my veins but collected at the puncture site causing a massive painful red/purple/blue lump. The size of a lemon. The nurse grabbed some sticky bandage as tight as possible but that caused the lump to break into THREE huge painful lumps and my entire arm swelled. After hours and hours I realized if I wanted the basic needs of human being food and water, even sleep I needed to go home this was basic care which I couldn't get at this hospital. If something was wrong I figured 5-6 hours after one test was long enough or, unless they were truly cruel just did not care. That was so hard to believe so I must be fine. Definitely forgotten! I asked before I left if they would call with the CAT scan results "Absolutely!" Never got that call either! What did I get from Richardson Methodist? Massive bruising from blown veins, missed veins, vein, blowout contrast lumps, other arm collapsed veins (could I be DEHYDRATED! hint!) and extreme depression knowing I'm not worth their time. More tortuous than helpful. No fluids, diagnosis, recommendations, doctor, test result, medications, bloodwork (can you be charged for an IV if they never attached the IV fluid bag?) no physical exam of any kind, nothing. Going to a hospital like this when you're alone is like going to court without a lawyer! No-one to help and stand up for you and you end up being a "forgotten patient" Interesting fact, this is becoming a "phenomenon" in the medical world, coming in alone by ambulance, put in a room, might've been seen and had a test, then forgotten! I was shocked. That's what happened to me!! "Forgotten patient" is real! Even when it's a very slow time it still happens. Like "hot car" baby death, parents just forget they're there. So I guess make sure you're never alone! "Forgotten Patient" is real and it is terrible.

I've visited him almost 4 times in two weeks complaining that I was feeling numbness and tingling in my knee. He was reluctant in ordering additional testing for me and all he would give me repetitively was Prednisone steroids and saying to me that I probably had rheumatoid arthritis. He kept saying to me that I am young so I would not have any other conditions. This is frustrating because he does not order further testing and makes determinations himself. Had he have sent me for an MRI of the brain ( which another doctor sent me to, a few months after I changed doctors, it showed up in my MRI and a lumbar puncher that I have aggressive Multiple Sclerosis and by the time they had me on the proper treatment it was too late and I lost my ability to walk completely. He is the Doctor who messed my life up.

It is quite frustrating to take time off for work for an appointment just to wait in a waiting room until you see a doctor and are advised that another appointment will need to be made with a doctor who can actually perform the service that was requested for the appointment.

I would never dare to think to write a negative review on a medical professional. Well, I decided…read moreto make an exception today because I did not like the way I felt after leaving his office yesterday. He has a practice with other physicians, but this is in no way reflecting on them because I have only met with Dr. WInkler. My regular physician assistant has left the practice that I normally go to so I decided to make a journey to find someone who I can trust. Unfortunately, I will never go back to him again. You know how people say you should always trust your gut feeling? Why didn't I do so? 1) The nurse or the medical assistant took my blood pressure and everything (which is normal), but she asked me to go into details why I was there. Which is fine, because I really liked her, but in all the times I have been to the doctor's office, the physician or even physician's assistant will sit down with you and ask you themselves or reinterate what you told the assistant, right? So, I basically spent the majority of my time with her. 2) In comes Dr. Winkler. Ugh, when i saw him I knew I made the wrong decision (no, this review is not based on that). He was socially awkward and very monotone. I am pretty sure he does a pretty good job, but his "bed side" manor needs WORK. Basically, he went by what the assistant wrote down, didn't even asked me questions, and told me I had something I did not. I looked at him and instantly said, "no, I don't" and gave him a look that read, "are you freaking kidding me? There's no way!" And then he proceeds, "I am very certain". Then I re-asked him the question that he asked me to make sure we were on the same page and he looks down on the chart or whatever the assistant wrote, and goes, "oh, I am sorry, I meant ________..... my words got mixed up". Oh brother. 3) So, I had to turn some immunization forms because I will be going to the medical field soon myself. And he goes on to say he can't sign this one portion because he only met me today. He proceeds to go on about his integrity. I am all about that and I totally respect him for it. And then he explains his reasonings and I understand. I am a very logical person too, but the way he made me felt... OMG. He made me feel like there was something wrong with me. Imagine, you are going to someone who is in a field you highly respect, and he makes you feel like that. He didn't even talk to me and has already made an assumption that is not even remotely true. I think if he had even taken the time to talked to me prior he would have gotten that information. 4) The only one thing that I did appreciate him for is that he gave me the option to either finish the appointment and do SOME of the labs and get immunization shots, or go to another physician (I had a deadline to meet). He even told me he was not going to charge me for the appointment if I decide to go to another doctor. I graciously declined and left. 5) Though, I did not have to pay for the appointment I felt I wasted my time (which is trial and error of course). I left questioning myself and the doctor's bed side manner. I never wish for anyone to have to go through what I did. I don't believe a person should feel like this when they leave a doctor's office. I am leaving the place and thinking, "what the hell just happened?" God forbid, if I ever find something terminal from this man. I would definitely would not like to recieve news from him *knock on wood".In the end, it has taught me something; I learned how a patient should be treated. I hope I would never make that mistake.

Dr. Winkler is very positive and encouraging. He is open and honest and straightforward. If you…read moreneed a doctor who will be kind and sincere, and help you make better decisions for your life and health, I recommend Dr. Winkler. I have been seeing him for about 3 years now, and it is a very comfortable visit- no awkwardness. Oh, yea- and his nurses are very good when taking blood samples with needles. And this is coming a person who HATES needles!
