Not to far out of St. Louis you will find this Shell gas station, for the longest time I made a…read morehabit of going across I55 to the truck stop on the other side, a little bit off the exit and although a larger convenience store with more snack and drink options, non of them are dairy, to be specific milk. So I almost went along my usual routine and then for some reason decided to try the Shell instead. Score, not only a decent restroom so I don't have to walk cross legged to the elevator, but they have milk, yay! Sometimes I just want to get home, or in this case my little second home which is light on provisions. I do have coffee beans, however leaving milk there, by the next visit it would be yogurt. After a few hours of driving, the last thing I want to do is go to the grocery store. Why am I making such a big deal about milk, seems places just don't have it. I'd even buy a small single serving just for the next morning's coffee. Perhaps road trips no longer exist, no families with children? What's next, maybe no gas? BTW, super friendly young man as a clerk that evening, big smile and super polite.

Inside, there is just the right selection of commonly needed auto supplies, groceries, and coffee/fast food. If you have a question, the clerks know exactly what is in stock, and check out customers quickly.

I once went in with an injured foot and the cashier even went and retrieved the item I needed. Can't say enough good things about the staff. They have a good snack selection, a wide variety of fountain soda options, and keep the place fairly clean and updated. I make a point to go here rather than anywhere else in town.

There are so many gas pumps that you should never have to wait for one, and once you walk inside, there's a whole experience waiting for you. They have a similar setup to the Beaver location, with gourmet popcorn, beef jerky, pulled pork, brisket, smash burgers, chicken fingers, hot dogs, and so much more. And, most of the food is pretty reasonably priced. Whenever we go to Six Flags in this area, we have a tradition of stopping at Wally's on the way there to grab dinner. Then, when we leave Six Flags, we'll stop again to get a drink for the drive home. It's usually much more affordable than eating inside the amusement park, and there are so many options that everyone can find something they like. This weekend, our group had a little bit of everything. We had someone get a hot dog, someone got chicken fingers, others had smash burgers, chopped brisket, and pulled pork. Everyone agreed it was "bussin," which, according to the high schoolers, means it was really good! They also have these kettle chips that come in a bag that doesn't look particularly huge, but somehow there are SO many chips inside. We passed the bag around the car and still had leftovers for the ride home. The girls also had to get a slushie, which was especially refreshing because it was so hot outside. And since they have their own bakery, I grabbed a cookie, and it did not disappoint. There's also plenty of shopping, including blankets, T-shirts, postcards, stickers, and all kinds of other souvenirs. They even have their own hot sauce! This definitely isn't a place where you're going to run in, grab something, and immediately leave. There's so much to look at that you're going to spend some time wandering around. For us, Wally's has become just as much a part of the Six Flags experience as the amusement park itself. It's something we look forward to both on the way there and on the way home, and this weekend was no exception!

BUT once the meat started going on the bun, a staff member spotted me and asked how many I needed. Just the one. He had it wrapped up and in my hand in no time. The food was good. Everything looked clean. The iced coffee bar hit the spot.

Gas pumps were clean and plentiful. Parking was well marked for the store. Staff could have been a little friendlier, especially as it is patronized by so many tourists. But overall it was a great place to fill up our rental, grab a few snacks and be on our way.

This is absolutely ridiculous and completely unprofessional, and I believe illegal in the state of Missouri.

It's clean and attractive. The pump worked great and no issues with my credit card. The wash was dirty however, towels were empty in some and present in others. The squeegee's most likely need to be replaced as well with lots of use. On one visit trash was overflowing, but others it was fine. On another visit an employee was emptying trash I did go inside on a recent and service and as very friendly. The brightest spot was the men's room which was fresh, clean and new. Everything worked and trash was maintained. Proper supply of toilet paper was present. I'm sure I will be back. 4.5 rounding down with pump wash issue and trash.
