Came here after a run and ordered 2 small iced americanos, a smoked salmon special, chive cream cheese, and egg and bacon all on everything bagel. the menu did not say how much the smoked salmon special would be but i did not think it would be nearly $20. It does not look like it would cost that much and was no where near the quality of a $20 bagel. the egg and bacon was nearly $10 and super super dry from the egg and way overcooked bacon. as for the bagel with just cream cheese, they did not put nearly enough cream cheese making it also very dry. you may have to specify if you want it toasted because they did not toast it making it even more soggy and dry. SUPER disappointing. On top of that, after order nearly $50 worth of food i asked for a cup of water because i was drenched in sweat from running in the heat and they denied me saying they do not offer free water and you have to purchase a water bottle. Seriously? I understand not wanting to give out water to anybody that comes by but as a customer and a restaurant on the boardwalk they should offer free water. the black iced coffee was super super bitter and not good in any way. coffee quality is below average here. I was shocked to see the salmon bagel price above all and when i double checked with the cashier she just gave me a look like yeah that's how much it costs. if you look at the menu it does not state the price either. i wanted to cancel the order after that but it felt too late. people here not very friendly and quality of coffee and bagels are not good. the store front is called "coffee and bagels" .... read more

Now, I'll be honest, I've only had a funnel cake once in my life and it was at a carnival over 15 years ago. So saying that, I don't really know what a funnel cake is supposed to taste like. I ordered the Red Velvet funnel cake with cream cheese icing. The cake was $14 and the cream cheese icing was an additional $4, which I was not aware of. I'm sure it was listed somewhere, I just didn't think to look when the cashier recommended I get the icing. The funnel cake was extremely crispy and lacking flavor. I asked my wife if its supposed to be crispy and she said it's supposed to be warm and doughy with slight crispy edges. Mine was crispy throughout. Honestly if the dessert didn't cost over $19 after tax, I would've tossed it. Way overpriced for an over-fried funnel cake. Also $4 for icing is insane. Customer service was good & wait time was quick. This location was clean which was nice. Overall verdict - I will not go as far as saying that I do not recommend this place, because I'm sure it was just an off night. I will say that I do not recommend the red velvet funnel cake because it lacked flavor. Also seeing as how cream cheese icing goes hand in hand with red velvet, just know that it's an additional $4, making your $14 cake become $18 (over $19 after tax) Although Love's Lemonade has a lot more to offer, I will most likely not return to try anything else. There are way too many other options on the boardwalk. If you want to keep customers coming back, be more consistent with the food quality and lower your prices. I couldn't find a place to review the coffee & bagels. At the very least, the place sucked. The coffee with cream was very bitter and had a strange after taste. The other coffee we got was a caramel latte, and it tasted extremely watered down with little flavoring. We also got a French toast bagel, which was fairly good, but it tasted like a plain bagel.. and... butter was $1.25 :/ The last thing we got was an omelet, which was flat scrambled egg. We asked for it with bacon, and it came on the side..? The two strips of bacon were just fat pieces. And strangely came with a pitiful salad, with no dressing, and half a cut up bruised strawberry. Didn't expect to pay more than $20-25 for everything, we ended up spending nearly $50 for breakfast that sucked. What really drew me on was the beautiful seating, I'll sadly admit.. FYI, price fixing has led to all funnel cakes on the OC boardwalk being either $9.29 or $9.79. Not sure that where you go makes a huge difference but this was a standard funnel cake. I had such high expectations for this spot based on their Yelp rating. I honestly should've gone to the spot on the corner with the long line... We lucked up on parking close by but man oh man the amount of people that follow the mask requirements is close to 50%. Food: My girlfriends and I had a taste for funnel cakes and fried Oreos and this place was listed as the #1 spot. When we got there, there wasn't much of a line. The Oreos were freshly fried and came out after a 5 min wait, dusted with powdered sugar. They weren't overdone and had a nice bite to them. This is the best funnel cake I've ever had I mean It's right up there with my number one funnel cake which is at the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk! So good I almost forgot to take a pic before it was gone. This funnel cake was more like a funnel pie because it was so thick not like those thin one layer things. I have never had such a thick layered funnel cake and now I feel like I can never have a normal one layer thin funnel cake again. The strawberry topping was Avery sweet of course but it wasn't overpowering because there was a good ratio of topping to funnel cake dough. I also ordered a fresh lemonade which I only ended up drinking one sip of. The lemonade tasted like straight sugar I get lemonade needs sugar but it was too much for me at the time. I got my first and last funnel cake from them. Service was very rude and slow at night even though no one was there. They acted like it was a bother to serve us and I should've just left from attitude alone but giving benefit of the doubt maybe just a bad day still bad service and funnel cake was okay a bit over priced as everything on the boardwalk. I wouldn't mind spending the money but service ruined them for me and the attitude very poor customer service. I will never spend my money there again..once and done...bad attitudes ruined it for the whole chain for me....never experienced such rudeness and ignorant staff!! I had been looking forward to a funnel cake for days and decided on this place for one. I like that they cut it into wedges which makes for easy sharing without everyone trying to rip it apart. The bad part was that it was much too crunchy. Funnel cake should be soft with crispy edges. My son got fried Oreos and liked them. We also got 4 lemonades. For a funnel cake, one order of fried Oreos, and 4 lemonades it was almost $40 which is nuts. And that was with a coupon that made 2 of the lemonades free. Being from the Jersey Shore, I have eaten my fair share of funnel cakes. I was considering trying it until they handed me a coupon and it made me try it. It was pretty good. Not overcooked or covered with too much sugar. The way they slice it like a pizza was a little weird. I'm used to pulling it apart the fun way. It actually makes it a bit messier in my opinion because you are trying to bite into a real thick piece so you get sugar on you instead of your fingers. No regrets.
