Some of these next few places may not be as detailed. Sorry I'm so behind, when I hit Florence I…read morethink, Yelp just stopped working for me. Couldn't log on the app, couldn't use the website. One day it said it was down for maintenance or something and then it never came back online for me. I don't think once until even after I came back from Italy.
On to the food. No I can't tell you the name of all of these specific places that we tried in this food hall. First, let me start off by saying that this is one of the largest food halls that I have ever been to, possibly even the largest. Again, this place is huge with plenty to choose from in a lot of variety. They had plenty of different Italian foods, burgers, gelato, a bar, and I think I even saw a vegetarian and a Taqueria.
We all ended up going to different booths. My friends ordered a couple pizza slices, ravioli, wild boar Ragu pasta, and I got a Porchetta plate.
We had joked that my friends ravioli tasted like Chef Boyardee from the can. The wild boar pasta while OK flavor had very chalky textured meat. My friend's pizza he said was so so. The huge disappointment for me was the Porchetta. due to the nature of it being a food hall it's hit or miss so my guess is that these guys just cook a giant Porchetta and it's a hope for the best type of situation. They probably just slice it as the orders come in. It looked like he stuck it in the oven to reheat, but the whole process results in you getting a plate of dry overcooked Porchetta. Maybe if you come early in the day when they first open, it's great but I highly recommend you avoid this place at night. It's a little sad to say, but I took maybe five bites in total and tossed the rest out. I was hungry, but not desperately hungry that I felt I needed to eat this.
There was a gelato spot right next to our table, which I did try. I don't think I caught the name, but one of the flavors on there said it was award-winning for some kind of gelato competition. I got it and I must admit it was pretty good.
Anyways, I wouldn't tell you not to come to this food hole, but I would tell you to keep your expectations in check.
