Breastfeeding can be such a daunting task…read more With a newborn that spent 2 weeks in the NICU, I really wanted to breastfeed to one bond with the baby since I feel like I missed out a bit while she was in the hospital and two because I wanted to provide her with the benefits that came with breastfeeding. I felt like I struggled in the beginning with breastfeeding as my baby constantly fell asleep resulting if feedings lasting an hour, sore nipples, and neck pain from posture. I was feeling discouraged and frustrated with my breastfeeding journey. After three visits working with Robin and the others there, I left feeling so much more confident as a first time mom. I learned advice on how position my baby and myself and tips to help wake her up and latch. The encouragement and advice from the patient and kind nurses really helped more than I can explain and I can't recommend this enough to all mamas. I am so grateful for access to this lactation clinic and the team there. The clinic itself is clean with private rooms (spacious enough for you, a spouse/loved one, the nurse, and a stroller), a front waiting room, and a bathroom. They have a scale to weigh your baby in the waiting room and private rooms and diapers to change there if needed. Parking is easy with a big lot out front and is accessible with a stroller into the clinic. I highly recommend this clinic/lactation lounge as it has helped me SO much.

I was struggling with nursing my firstborn and knew I needed to find someone to help me. Lactation coaches are extremely expensive, but completely worthwhile. When I asked my pediatrician (through Mercy in Midtown) and my OBGYN (at Methodist in Elk Grove) they said look for information from La Leche League but didn't tell me anything about coaching. Guess why... they didn't know this existed. We are successfully breastfeeding after about a month of great coaching and as-needed consulting, and as it's grant funded I literally didn't pay a dime out of pocket. It was a godsend, and I owe so much of my sanity and peace to the woman who runs this place. Please know if you are ANYONE at a Dignity Health-run place in the Sacramento area you can call here and look for help!

I called the office 5 minutes before they shut the phone line down (which is 30 minutes before the office is even closed). Dolores answered the phone and asked me to hold. I was on hold for 8 minutes before I was transferred to voicemail because she did not want help me. The office called me back a few minutes later let it ring once and hung up. I called the following day to let them know I didn't appreciate how that was handled and found out that Dolores is the office manager. My info was given to another office manager Julia and was told I would be given a call. She never called me back. I called the following day and was immediately sent to Julia's voicemail. The lack of concern or even interest from the office managers about how their staff run the office or treat people is ridiculous. These two ladies, Dolores and Julia, are the office managers and they don't care about how they treat or handle issues. Your questions or concerns about your child's health are not important to them, especially if you call at the end of the day. They don't care.

As a doula, she is extremely capable, professional, and supportive. When I first connected with Shalin via videochat for a consultation, she instantly made me feel comfortable. I decided to go with Shalin based on how experienced and knowledgeable she seemed, as well as how comprehensive her doula services package was. Over the course of my pregnancy, Shalin visited my house several times to educate my husband and me about the birthing process, evidence-based approaches to birth, and different ways to prepare my body for birth, and to go over my birth plan. The whole process made me feel really prepared for the birth and gave me a greater understanding of what I wanted for the birth. I also appreciated that I got to know Shalin more during the pregnancy so that she didn't feel like a stranger at all. In fact, she is so warm and friendly that she felt more like a friend! She didn't push any particular views on me but wanted me to feel supported in my birth preferences.  When I went into early labor, Shalin was very responsive and kept checking in on me to see how labor was progressing, and when we decided to go to the hospital, she was super quick to meet us there. She was prepared in every way and set up lights and candles for the room. The hospital room was a vibe and very peaceful! Since I gave birth in a hospital setting, it was also important to me to have someone who could help advocate for me. When my hospital care team asked me to do certain things, Shalin checked in with me to see if I wanted to proceed with what they were asking. During the labor, she suggested different laboring positions and did counterpressure and other comfort measures, which helped me tremendously in coping with the pain. With Shalin's help and support, all my birth preferences were met! I had such a positive, empowering labor - something I never would have thought possible after my first delivery experience (without a doula).  I loved having Shalin as my doula and I highly recommend her! I can't stress enough how having her as my doula made such a difference to my second delivery experience. I am so happy with how everything went and really couldn't have done it without Shalin!

There's a bed, bathroom, shower and a very large tub, which my wife loved. The midwives are very responsive. My wife had a 37 hour labor. Once active labor began we were at the birth center from 10pm to 9am and they were of course with us the entire time giving incredible support. My wife had to be transferred to a hospital because of a host of complications that were out of our control. The midwives arranged everything with the hospital and drove with us to the hospital and stayed with my wife until she was in her hospital room. Post-natal care has been phenomenal as well. The lactation advice has been a game changer. Sweet people, loved working with them! Thank you so much Bethany and Vicky!

We have been comfortably and confidently nursing after just a few visits, and I will likely continue to check in as long as I am lactating. I love that they take many different insurances and have a functional home-like space. They also provide hot teas and adorable teacups. Don't hesitate to talk about postpartum mental health, birth control, return to work, bottles/pumping, or other related topics. They will help where they can and often know where to refer for various things. Bethany is very knowledgeable, direct, and supportive. I love her sense of humor. She has helped me brainstorm and problem solve for things no one else on my care team has been able to. They fill a much-needed gap and do incredible work. Also, talking with Lindsey at the front desk feels like being wrapped in a warm blanket. :) All new mamas deserve the kind of help provided at MiLC.

My husband and I are new residents to California and I am currently pregnant with our first child. We have no family in the area. I had a phone consult scheduled with the owner, Ms. Michele, on January 5th, 2026. She called me on time and we both mutually agreed to move forward with the on-boarding process for doula services for my pregnancy. She requested that I call my insurance company and gather the information for her in an email. I did this, and sent her an email the following night, on January 6th. I didn't hear anything from her, so I sent a text message to both her work and personal cell phone number on January 9th. No response. At this point, I am 37 weeks, and anxious to move things along for doula services. The weekend and Monday goes by, and I still have not received a reply. I decide, as a last attempt, to call her. I called both her work and personal cell phone and left a voicemail on each line on Tuesday, January 13th. Nothing. Shame on the owner, Ms. Michele, for stating that she will move the process forward and said she will have a doula for me for my birth. She lied. She disclosed to me during our consult that she is a mother herself and had over twenty years of experience working as a L&D nurse. This provided me great relief and happiness, only for it to be crushed when she never replied to my messages. How can someone with this sort of background make a promise and then not follow through? Ms. Michele should be ashamed of herself not only on a professional level, but also on a personal level. This seems to be a wider issue with the Doula profession as I was ghosted by another local Sacramento doula company as well as the Volunteer Doula Coordinator at Mercy Hospital of Folsom. I believe doulas are a valuable asset to a woman's birth experience, however, I will not be wasting my time anymore trying to arrange one for my pregnancy.

Knowing I am likely birth fast again, I wanted to go without pain meds again, with as much help I can get, and natural birth of the planceta. I reached out to Tashina pretty late in my pregnancy. Knowing my situation, she responded to my email right away and managed to squeeze me into her schedule. She did a very thorough interview with me and my husband, fully understood what experience we are looking for and made amazing recommendations. She recommended me with a hospital I wasn't aware of that has great staff and with midwifery care. Since I was late stage pregnant (32+weeks), she pulled all her strings to help the new hospital accept me as a patient. And all the way up until the delivery date, she was only one text/call away for any questions I had. The birth was still painful, but with the midwifery care, Tashina's preparation with me and my husband, the hot tub setup, and her being there as my advocate, the birth was quick, smooth, and no manual extraction of placenta! My second son was almost 8lbs and no tear or stitches. Even weeks after birth, Tashina came visit and always checked in with me to help me with breastfeeding issues, baby colic issues etc. Tashina is so knowledgeable, caring and loving.
