SMALL HIDDEN GEM! I…read morewasn't expecting much, but wow they have everything you need here, and they fit it in such a small shop! My favorite parts are the aisle full of alllllll the sauces, and the wide selection of drinks ranging from canned boba to bottles of ramune soda. I was happy to finally find some hot sesame oil here in Asheville. The only downside is that it doesn't have the large selection of fresh meat and produce like other large Asian supermarkets I am used to back in larger cities. I'll definitely be back when I need some more Asian food items.

It's been a few years since I have shopped at Lee's Asian Market, but today I went back to look for…read moresome Vietnamese ingredients for some upcoming Lunar New Year's food. The stores isn't large, but it's pretty well stocked. I have been to the larger Asian market, YZ, and I think Lee's Asian Market has a smaller overall stock of things, but what it does have, you'll get several brands. For example, I needed Pandan extract. At YZ, I could only find the McKormick's Buco Pandan flavoring. At Lee's there were 3 brands of Pandan flavoring, including the Pandan flavored paste I was looking for, which is also sold by Amazon for about $6, at Lee's it was only $1.50 or so. The owner, a nice Chinese woman speaks English pretty well and is very friendly. That's somewhat rare in Asian markets. She walked me over to the steamer area and gave me some advice on using the bamboo cone, which is what I ended up buying. She also helped me find the frozen Pandan leafs. She is super sweet and nice, which I appreciated. I also found some fresh sticky rice and sweet banana cakes near the register. They had two square Banh Tet (Vietnamese new year cakes with mung bean and pork) as well. I haven't seen fresh cakes like that at the other Asian stores, so Lee's gets bonus points for this!

Such a cute and cozy tea spot! The decoration is so bright and quirky I feel happy walking in. They…read moresell a lot of great tea accessories, like infusers and mugs. They also sell bags of loose leaf tea. I'm not big on boba tea, but I've tried and enjoyed many of their other options, including an iced tea, a tea soda, and a tea smoothie. The tea soda and smoothie are definitely VERY sweet--I got the peach tea soda and the orange passion fruit smoothie--but they are nice treats on a hot day. The smoothie was my favorite, which is more like a slushy in my opinion. It has tea, fruit, and crushed ice. All of the above-mentioned items are vegan. They are very knowledgable about food allergies and cross-contamination. They have a special allergen-free blender for smoothies in the back; you just have to ask them to use it. Great customer service overall and great for those who are vegan or have a dairy allergy! I do wish they used something other than styrofoam for their drinks.

We told the employee that helped us that it was our first time trying boba tea. She took the extra time to explain the different types of tea to us and walked us through different flavor options. There was an older lady that also helped us out. My kids were wanting sprinkles on their teas, so she recommended we get them blended so the sprinkles didn't sink to the bottom. My kids got blended cotton candy boba tea with strawberry and mango popping boba. I tried them both and they were good. I got the almond tea with regular boba pearls. The tea tasted good but I was not a fan of the regular boba pearls. The ambiance was nice. It was very cozy and quiet, with a coffee house type vibe. We would definitely return in the future.
