Being blonde is fun but so so hard!!…read more I've been blonde forever and have had spurts of being brunette ( a fix after a bad dye job in college), and even a redhead. I never recognized myself despite my love of anyone with beautiful red hair, but I have always gone back to blonde! I must be the most difficult blonde in NYC, maybe the world, and have been getting highlights for 16 years, always changing salons (I'm that person to stop a fellow blonde on the subway and ask where they go) and never happy with anything the way I was at home in CT. Well, I can't go home to CT every time I need my hair done, the prices are really the same as in New York - and I literally have no time - until one day I found Marianna through someone on Instagram!! OMG. Like another reviewer said, It took me 8 years living in NYC to find someone I trusted with blonde hair! First of all, she is super cool and I go there because I also really like hanging out with her! Second - she listens, and hears all my insane ideas - and I love her because we talk through it and she explains what every term means - I look through photos I saved and she explains what blending vs dimension means, or lifting vs single process, or ice white vs vanilla white (haha!) and we will talk about how I normally wear my hair, what is my typical day like - (I can be super lazy and throw it in a bun and call it effort) - so she really works backwards with me to see what I am wanting - or if I have events coming up, or how much time I really need between appointments - and I really respect that because I feel like anywhere else is always trying to get your money!! This is NYC, I don't have all that money!! lol Anyway, Marianna is AMAZINGNESS and truly goes above and beyond and I love that she has her own salon, which is bright and pink and fun; it's just very cozy and quaint but perfect after a busy day, or even at 8am for a full highlight and root lift... I am always running around and can be found eating lunch or typing away on my computer in her chair. Even while doing work, it is always a pleasant experience with Marianna!! Trust me: from someone who has been to more salons than I can count, You will not regret going to her!!

I did a little research and just had a good feeling about him. I came to him in the summer with a horrible haircut that i did myself, he took one look at it and said "this is not hair" and I was happy he was honest and could see just how bad of shape my hair was in. I was even more happy when he said "you have curly hair" as he looked at my dead flat hair and knew that my natural texture is thick and curly. To my surprise, he started chopping away, and I let him because I knew it had to be done, and I am glad I let him because my hair looked thick and full and good when he was finished. It was a cute short cut, but the reason I love it so much is because it GROWS in beautiful. I can just let it air dry and it looks nice. I get so many compliments from all over people tell me it looks full in the back. He really understands how YOUR hair corresponds with YOUR face. He is also just a pleasure to be around, very sweet but professional. I liked how he didn't gossip with the other stylists and just focused on his work. Highly recommend him!

In my experience, it's more affordable than other salons. The salon I went to prior (where I got chunky highlights) charged me at least $100 more for the same service. Olivia then gave me a great dry curly hair cut, which also looks good when straightened! It's rare to find someone who can cut curly hair well. She took in my notes and really delivered. Gaby has an impressive skillset, is incredibly kind, and extremely knowledgeable about her craft. I have fine, dirty blonde hair naturally and tried out a few colorists in my first year living in NYC before finding Gaby. When I came in to see Gaby for the first time, my hair was the darkest and unhealthiest it had ever been. A previous colorist elsewhere had taken me very dark blonde (almost bronde) after asking to tone down my blonde for the winter, and I was simultaneously experiencing increased hair loss from switching medications. Needless to say, I was a in a fragile state when I came in but as soon as I met Gaby, I knew I was in good hands Her kindness and our consultation immediately took a weight off my shoulders as we discussed my goals, what she believed would be achievable in the first session, and what we could work towards long-term together. Getting back to a bright yet easy to maintain blonde while doing the least amount of damage to my hair possible was the goal, and now after seeing her just a handful of times I've never been happier with my hair color! Not only does my hair look great when I leave the salon, but I've even gotten compliments on the color 5 weeks after a session! More importantly, the health of my hair has also improved significantly since I first saw Gaby. I completely trust Gaby with my hair and could not possibly recommend her more!!

The amount of professionalism and respect was above and beyond because Lana paused and looked at my hair and said "you don't have that many... but balayage would not help you could do something much simpler. No need to spend hundreds on that unless you want to lighten your hair. For gray coverage alone... no reason to put your hair through that" I literally handed her a massive upsell on a silver platter and she politely educated me. I felt so respected and grateful. Salons are so notorious for upselling and for her to actually give me practical skill based advice even if it wasn't the best for short term revenue.... That is a rare find of integrity and skill. Once I have the time to schedule a coloring appointment I will obviously be going here and trust her 100% to guide me to the best option. The salon is also immaculate and relaxing, chairs are comfortable. Highly recommend!
