Once receiving our drinks sitting for about 20-25 mins, the owner came out, at first only to yell at people walking down the stairs to go to the only bathroom in this place; in the basement. The outside of this bar claimed to be a New York bar. And for those of us who don't know what that means. I'll explain in one word. Hospitality. This experience was the furthest from hospitable, coming from a true New Yorker. The owner then shared with us he's not from NY and has no idea what it means to be a NY bar (who claims he's from Pennsylvania). A lot of question marks. Then he continued to shame us for being from New York, admitted he never went there, and then proceeded to brag about being from bumblefuck, Pennsylvania, and how his son never pays for anything when he goes to Pennsylvania. As someone who has been to NYC bars this isn't a place that resembles "nyc" and should not be considered a place to grab for drinks. 2/10 would not recommend!

It took awhile to get this bartender's attention, we asked if we could choose our seat, since there was hardly anyone there. Mostly too- we knew we did not want to sit anywhere near the bar where he was sulking. He finally came over with menus for both drinks and food. It didn't take us long at all since we had already chosen our food before. We promptly closed our menus to signal we were ready. That apparently wasn't enough here, it took over 20 minutes for him to finally come and get our orders. I ordered the falafel bowl since I'm vegan- it's one of like 3 things on the menu that would work. My friend ordered another bowl, I'm not sure the name of her bowl, but she said she wouldn't order it again. I agreed- I felt the same way. The server/bartender never checked back in with us, someone else dumped the food at our table and ran. My friend ordered another glass of wine from the food runner, she got a much better wine pour the 2nd time from the food runner even though she ordered the wine the exact same way. No one ever came to ask how our meal was, if we wanted more drinks, or anything else. Near the end when we were ready to leave a big group of cruise people came in and then the bar got busy- but until that point they had not been busy. We had asked for our check well before that point, and after waiting Way longer than we should have without anyone coming back to us, we finally went up to the bar to beg to pay. So sad when you have to beg to leave and pay So if you are ever in the area and want bland, boring, overpriced food, served by disinterested staff who will waste your afternoon- this is the place for you. If you value your time, I would go elsewhere. It was raining today, and my friend and I were trying to just visit with each other. Had I been with my hubby, he would have up and left. They have a happy hour till about 8pm most evenings and a huge cocktail list but most of what we tried was fairly ordinary. I had an Old Fashioned and a Caipirinha and both tasted a bit odd and served in glasses I would not expect for either of them. Service is ok and people do reserve for late evening drinks so expect that after 8pm you will probably need a reservation over the weekend. I wouldn't rush back here but due to the shortage of late night bars in Munich I will probably end up here again ;-)

My husband keeps bragging about Irish fish n chips but I've yet to see the amazing flavors he's talking about. Though it doesn't exactly fit the typical "dive" bar stereotype because it is right in the heart of the Gaertnerplatz area (thus making it insanely crowded on a Saturday night), if you come here on a Sunday you will get the same hole-in-the-wall rockbar atmosphere, but slightly less loud. You also won't find yourself sitting alone at the bar either....I think about 15 others were there. Not bad for Sunday at 10pm :D If a cocktail is what you're looking for, I'm sure the bartenders can make it for you, but you might fare better at one of the cocktail places down the road. However, if it's beer, shots, or straight liquor you want then Holy Home is the place for you.
