The breading tasted weird or perhaps it was the oil in which they cooked it. The fries were soggy and oily. We also ordered two empanadas which were even worse. The dough for the empanadas was caky and falling apart and the meat filling was so bland. Also whatever sauce they serve the empanadas with tasted so bad, it was inedible. Nothing we ate here was consistent with Argentinian food but moreover the food just tasted terrible.

Walking back from the Reddition & Foujita (see reviews), we saw a little restaurant across the road…read moreand I spotted the word Argentinean...being a great fan for many reasons (love polo, Argentinean food and Buenos Aires in particular), we decided to walk over and check out the menu We went in; small place; little guy walks over - turns out to be the waiter; difficult to understand his French; we want to come this evening; Ok; do you need our name?; no, I know who you are...ah well, looks nice, we see you tonight; off we went Returned as planned; our chap pointed to a sit up, high stool on long table...and the first thing you see is the resident parrot climbing around the spiral staircase! (see photos) We got the menu and a bottle of decent Malbec (Pinto final) and I had to have the empanadas - they were pretty good but I neglected to say beef only; my fault, but the chicken was good too We, like everyone else, watched the parrot Two rump steaks ordered; waiter emphasised these were genuine Argentinean beef - yummy or what! And they arrived with a huge number of chips (each plate), lightly dusted with parmesan...they looked, but probably weren't, as though they were cooked in duck fat...so moreish, but it meant that I for one simply could not manage a dessert! just a coffee. My partner managed a creme caramel - served upside down ie the caramel at the bottom...apparently very good Fabulous music - not too loud; great welcome from our new found friend who is Cuban, when we arrived (see Cru Chantzy re both these points); and the resto is owned by a Cuban who also has a Cuban bar/club at Betheny This is absolutely a great find even though it is on the outskirts of the centre and the main drag - go there and enjoy, away from the hubbub. The food generally as it passed us to the other tables looked pretty good Non-food highlight of the evening...the chef filled the parrot's various tins of food and water in his cage & lobbed him in...having emptied one tin he threw a complete wobbly and chucked the tin on the floor...then basically stamped his feet to get attention and more! For a while he sat on his perch on one leg For anyone concerned, he doesn't come anywhere near you, just climbs around the staircase and his cage and basically hangs there And it shows just what can be done with 1 waiter, 1 chef who know what they are doing and are good at it If anyone know anywhere similar in Paris or London, send me a message What a great evening!
