    Won Ton Soup

Since moving to Shelton, WA I've been looking for a great traditional Chinese restaurant. I've tried a few other locations and found them to be lacking. Then I stumbled upon Lotus Garden. The first thing I noticed was how friendly and personable the staff (and the owner) were. We had a few questions like whether or not they would accept tap to pay (they do) as well as about the menu items and they were more than helpful. There are combination meals available for lunch, but we were there during dinner hours and everything was a la carte. My friend and I decided to try a few of our favorite dishes. We ordered Sweet & Sour Pork, Pork Fried Rice, BBQ Pork, Spring Rolls, Won Ton Soup, Chow Mein, and Almond Fried Chicken. The Sweet and Sour pork was near perfection. It was the perfect combination of crispy and tender. The sauce was spot on as well. Even better was the BBQ Pork Fried Rice. I can't even nail what the flavor is but there's a certain note when its perfect that just smacks, and this dish hit on all cylinders. Next up was the BBQ Pork appetizer. It wasn't my favorite traditional goey "Char Siu BBQ" style, but was your typical cold sliced BBQ Pork with hot mustard, ketchup and sesame seeds. For that it was very tender and flavorful. The other appetizer, Egg Rolls, were really Spring Roll style and were filled with a good variety of veggies, served with Sweet & Sour style sauce but had a hint of sweet chile & spice to it. Tasty. The Won Ton Soup was one of the best I've had, served family style. It was filled with many veggies such as snap pea pods, carrot slices, green onion, bok choy and more. The broth was traditional and had a comforting flavor to it. Perfect to warm up with on a cold day. The Chow Mein was typical veggie chow mein, not crunchy noodles available. The Almond Fried chicken was good as well, and just like the sweet & sour pork was perfectly balanced between crispiness and tenderness. Overall this was a great dining experience and I will be back for sure. I would love to give 5 stars, but -1 star for pricing and menu structure. Every a la cart dish comes with steamed rice, with an optional pricey upgrade to fried rice. With no available family style dinners, or combination plates during dinner hours, this made the meal very expensive. Hopefully they update the menu to include such options in the future.

Great service and food, appears to be much healthier than other I have tried. The owner went out of her way to make a ginger beef that I have had in the past elsewhere and she came very close. Ask her for the crispy beef with a ginger sauce for something special, this is not on the menu

OMG! This food is SO good! The staff were so sweet and I love the option to order online and pick up at the restaurant. The food is fresh and the flavors were amazing. I love how all the sauces came separately so that the food doesn't get soggy, THANK YOU!! This is the best Chinese food I've had in a really long time. I will for sure eat here again!

Very Fresh Chop Suey #3 spicy with White rice!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! I'm so impressed with this little gem of a restaurant hidden away in Belfair. I have lived in Belfair for many years and this place is hands down the best restaurant in Belfair! The service is impeccable and the food is incredible! I really enjoy their chop suey with white rice it's to die for quality veggies are cooked to perfection and the chicken is so lovely it's very tender. I like spicy foods so I order mine as a # 3 on the spicy side and it's absolutely delicious I come here at often as possible. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Food arrived like warm, service was slow and lacked attention. Cleanliness was also concerning.

After hearing that there were new owners and that the food was good, I had to give HG a try again…read more I am happy to report that the food was delicious, portions were large and service was good. The restaurant is to go only, which was a wise move since it is not a big shop and table service takes up a lot of time and energy for the staff. At early dinner time they were quite busy, with walkin and phone orders coming in at a good clip. Prices have gone up but they have gone up everywhere and if they can maintain the quality they will see more business from us in the future. The Mapo had a nice heat level and a good amount of Szechuan peppercorn to provide that tingling sensation. The Szechuan beef had heat but not so much as to make us olds reach for the zantac (immediately). Veggies were fresh and the dish was not killed by a heavy sauce. If you haven't been in here for a while, there is no better time than the present to give them a try.

I tried to come here before the owner change it was bad there was broccoli and potstickers in the wonton soup and after the remodel still not good. Now rotten shit pork, I'm done trying to give this place a chance. Never again! The owners are so nice but their quality of food is just bad! Four stars - Good…read more We went here for dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant was a little hard to access at night with traffic. There is a large parking lot in the back. The restaurant is decorated nicely. Our server was friendly, and we got our food quickly. The food was really good! I prefer egg foo young with a thick gravy, and this place hit that mark. The orange chicken was also good; it had a nice crunch while also having a good amount of sauce. We will definitely go here again.

It provides a sense of cultural pride that can be lost in some places. Went here for at friends bday party and we had a large crowd. What I enjoyed the most is that we could pre-order our food, which I appreciated a lot. Having a large group of people can mean a delay in getting food, etc. but they were super efficient and we received our food in great time. What a bonus and reflective of their service. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive even with such a big crowd. Usually I'm fighting to get noticed or anything additional from servers but when we asked for hot chili oil and eggroll dipping sauce, they came back quickly with the condiments. Now, I didn't give them a 5 because our food wasn't too hot, and the hot chili oil was not hot as in spicy. It was good but not what I had expected. The eggroll was OK but the hot and sour soup and the beef green bean was so yummy. Well-seasoned. I also really liked that they have indicidual dinner meals! That is so nice when you don't want to spend so much, or want to get something specific and not share. Lastly, I bought sesame balls- just a nice sweet but subtle treat and they were so good. So delicious that when I got home, I ate the rest! I didn't plan to. Just happened lol! They are located by PLU and a little further than I would go for food since I live in North Tacoma. I will be back if there is another party or asked to. Hope they get good business/crowds here! Best of luck!
