I came in out of curiosity as my husband and I had just had breakfast across the street so I figured why the heck not, a dessert to top of our morning anniversary breakfast and both people working there looked so upset. I am a sucker for a fruit tart but this one was probably the worse I've ever had, one bite and you can tell the dessert was not fresh and kind of tasted bitter. It was very pretty but very nasty. My wife ordered a custom cake for our baby shower here. She chose this place because it's nearby and the price was reasonable. Since we're having another baby shower she wanted to get another cake from here but with a different theme. The first cake theme was Minnie mouse while the second cake theme is now teddy bear. The first tier will be vanilla with strawberry cream inside and the second tier will be chocolate with peach cream inside. When she did the Minnie mouse cake, it was a three tier cake and they delivered it to us. For our second baby shower, the cake will be two tier but they told us they only deliver for three tier cakes only. Our guest enjoy the first cake we had so I'm pretty sure they'll enjoy this teddy bear cake as well. read more

We've visited Lotus Bakery a few times as we thought we'd try them out again since one of our friends recommended the bakery while our other friends redirected us to a different bake shop. Our last visit occurred on a Thursday. The bake shop was not busy. There were two ladies at the counter one was very friendly and welcomed us. She was on her way out. We ultimately purchased a sliced strawberry cake and 2 cake pops. We were looking into other pastries but nothing else appealed to us. The other associate didn't seem approachable so we didn't inquire about cakes and pastries. When she rang us up she didn't say anything nor provide a receipt. Basically we don't know how much each of the items cost. The strawberry cake was not fresh and it wasn't moist. It's probably several days old as well as the cake pops. Food coloring was leaking out of the cake pops so it's definitely several days old. We most likely won't come back here again and so glad we tried them out. read more

First I would like to start off with something has changed within this establishment, my family has been coming here for years so I know the quality that use to come with this bakery. As you can see from the first photo is what I requested for my daughter's birthday. I was quoted for the same exact thing. When my partner picked it up on his way home I started crying from the stress of recieving something blank. I had to return to the shop however the party was starting so I anticipated what their solution was going to be and if I needed a backup plan. They took their time to attend to me and see what the issue was and finally when they got to me and offered to fix the cake they took some time. I had sent in the photo I wanted with the deposit a while back and they asked me again when it should have been in their file. As stressed I was I told them it was fine to choose the first photo. As I was waiting there was a mix of other dissapointed customers and regular customers. There was many employees in the back some staring mad and working slow. When they brought back my cake I was very disappointed in the quality of the cutout as it was very choppy but I knew the party I was hosting had started I decided to mention it to the manager then and there and just leave. I will never recommend this spot in this new time the old Lotus was all about quality from their service, taste, and especially design. I bought my wedding cake from here about 6 years ago. Besides from being extremely reasonable in price the cake was perfectly spongey and gorgeously decorated. Fast forward and I need a cake for my mother's 50th birthday. Once again they do not disappoint! We got a small cake (more ceremonial than for serving to all guests) it was beautiful and delicious. Used to love this place as the cake used to be so light and moist and just the best spongelike cake. Been a customer since the 90's!!! Today 4/2/23, we bought a strawberry/banana round cake and as I was cutting it, I noticed it was immediately falling apart. The cake was so dry and could not even be eaten with a fork. I used to place orders here about 15 years ago. I placed an order of a white bread, 3 layer, 8in round, with fresh strawberries, bananas and custard cake. See picture attached. When I spoke to the receptionist she quoted me over $100. I then asked her for the 6in and she quoted me $60.60 Quite insane for such a small cake but I thought, well their cakes do taste really good. When I brought it home and cut it, the layers were so thin, and the fruit was paper thin and the bread was dry! I was so disappointed! I was also in disbelief that they had placed some sticks in the middle of the cake.. they never warned me about my cake having sharp like sticks inside. I could only imagine what if someone would have tried having me take a bite off the bake.. something I've never seen before. So be careful. I have purchased a few cakes for baby showers here, decided to get one for a baby shower today. When we discussed the cake she told me what she wanted. White cake, strawberry filling with buttercream frosting..NOT WHIPPED CREAM icing. I said I would take care of the cake as I know a great bakery to use. So, I travel from North Hollywood to San Fernando on Thursday (5 days before I need it) talk to the woman at the desk. I was VERY clear what I wanted, paid in full, $57.15 for 1/4 sheet cake. I told her about the frosting, and what to write on it. I got there to pick it up, no writing on the cake, they came out to write on it, ok fine, I'm off to Calabasas for this shower. Cake time comes around, cut and serve it and I see a strange look on her face. I asked if everything was ok..she said "this is whipped cream frosting" I tasted it, yep, no buttercream. I asked a few more people, yep, whipped cream icing. I am so disappointed. Driving home, I decide to call. I spoke to Alex, the "manager" excuse after excuse, I ended up telling him that he doesn't give 2 shits about this so have a nice day, I hung up. I get a call back from him, telling me he checked with his baker and it was in fact buttercream and he helped finish the cake so he knows. Well, sorry Alex, we tasted it, it was NOT BUTTERCREAM. THEN I get a text from him ( WTAF) telling me "after investigation, it was in fact right" I can produce 15 people to tell you no it is not in fact right, so take your $60.00 cake and put it where the sun don't shine and I will NEVER use this bakery or refer anyone else there, like I have in the past. read more
