When the technician came, he explained that there was a problem with my compressor, but the good news was that the refrigerator was still under warranty. The gentle man that I was speaking with on the phone said it sounded like the microwave door latches needed to be replaced. When the technician Joe showed up at my house the next day he stunk like a cigarette. He preceded to take pictures of the serial number on the appliance. In conversation I told him that the same Kitchen Aid microwave that I have is currently 499.00 dollars at Lowes . He then told me with out doing any diagnoses that the repair was going to be 450.00 dollars so I was better off just buying a new microwave. He also said nowadays the microwaves that they manufacture are throwaways and that when they go bad you throw them out and replace them with a new one. Now if that is the case why didn't the gentleman on the phone when I called them explain that to me. It seems to me they just wanted the 121.00 dollar service call fee that I paid them.
