A bit noisy as there's sooo many tables just back to back all around each other, so you can hear everybody around. Large room with servers that go around in carts with all the dumpling menu options and all you do is say yes to all the ones you need and it's served right then and there, how convenient! Unlike most AYCE dumpling places, their portions here are fairly large and definitely shareable. So pick responsibly, but then again, you are able to take home leftovers. Leftovers are the best though, right? This was my first time with a large group of friends and let our main host choose all she thought was good as most of us were first timers and she's been there several times and every choice was definitely not a disappointment. I'll definitely come back to share an updated review on more food in specifics! I hardly took enough photos as we were having a great time and just went all in on the food!

It's not…read morequite on the level of Yank Sing in San Francisco, which remains one of my benchmarks for really great dim sum, but this is definitely some of the better dim sum I've had in San Diego. One of the things I really enjoyed was the traditional dim sum cart service. There's something fun about having a revolving parade of carts come through the dining room loaded with bamboo and metal steamers. The lids are lifted right at your table, you get a look at what's inside, and before long you're pointing at dishes you hadn't even planned on ordering! I quickly found plenty of my favorites. I had shrimp siu mai, pork and shrimp siu mai, BBQ pork buns, shrimp har gow, beef cheung fun, and egg custard tarts. The dish I couldn't remember the name of (and had to look up later) was the beef cheung fun, steamed rice noodle rolls wrapped around a savory beef filling and served with a light, slightly sweet soy-based sauce poured over the top. Delicious! The har gow had those wonderfully translucent wrappers surrounding plump shrimp, the siu mai were flavorful, and the BBQ pork buns were soft and fluffy. And you can't finish dim sum without something sweet, so the egg custard tarts were an easy decision. Flaky pastry with that bright, silky custard center makes for a pretty great ending. I was dining alone, which presents one small problem with dim sum: I still want to try EVERYTHING! I quickly ordered more than I could possibly finish, but that was intentional. It just meant I had plenty of leftovers to take with me for later. If you enjoy traditional cart-service dim sum and are looking for a good option in San Diego (Convoy Street area), Jasmine Seafood is definitely worth a visit. Good food, lots of choices rolling right past your table, and the classic dim sum experience that makes the meal as much fun as it is delicious. Solid four stars from me!

That changed this trip. I went twice in the 4 days we were there! First night I got just an order of salt and pepper wings. $23.50 or so, and they hooked it up with about15 wings (says 13 to an order, but we got a couple more than that, I think). The wings were PERFECT! It was my Sons first time trying them. He instantly fell in love! We ate them outside and went to town. Cant get a better wing, anywhere. Large, crispy, salty, garlicky. Perfect wings! Second time there, I went with the lunch special for the salt and pepper wings. You get 10 wings, and a container of plain fried rice. Total was like $18.50. Once again, wings were bomb! I love scooping the garlic and green onions on top of the wings and biting in. Such a good bite! I love this place! Wow, it's been so long since I've had you tiao (Chinese fried donuts) with soy milk! Their duck noodle soup and congee were also delicious. Protip: if you order a noodle soup, they will ask if you want your soup on the side. Don't do it because they barely have me enough soup to cover my noodles and I'm pretty sure if I hadn't gotten it on the side they would have given me more. But I haven't found a Chinese place this homey and authentic in San Diego in a long time. You know it's legit when you show up on a Sunday morning and the place is full of Chinese people. Planning to take my family here some day as I am sure they would love it. Very no-frills, fast service. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy so I don't think I would come here in the dark. They do have a small parking lot up front, but it can get messy so I recommend street parking in the neighborhood right next door where there seems to always be ample street parking.

There was some additional parking behind the building that people may not know about. I have seen this business listed in numerous "best of" lists for this enclave of SD. The inside had around ten tables so we're talking about a maximum seating capacity of no more than fifty customers. The noodles were the featured items on the menu, specifically the Rice Noodle Soups and the Crispy Noodle Plates. Those two categories occupied an entire page of the menu. My eyes wandered to the Chow Fun section that had over a dozen varieties which was more than I have seen anywhere else in town. Instead of the prototypical Beef Chow Fun, I selected the Sate version for my order. An oval plate was brought to my table within ten minutes. I noticed there were a lot of onions in the mix, both white and green. Some tomato slices were also included which I found unusual and did nothing to enhance the dish. The pieces of beef were tender and covered with satay sauce. For $15.50, the price was on the lower side, however more rice noodles were needed. I would have preferred using half the number of onions too. The overall execution of the Sate Beef Chow Fun was between three and four stars.
