Wow--what a cool place! The Lost River Caverns in Hellertown are an absolute must -- this underground world is full of mystery and natural beauty. You get to walk through paved, well-lit pathways inside a limestone cavern where an underground river flows, and the constant temperature of about 52 degrees Fahrenheit adds to the atmosphere. The guided tour is fun and educational, with knowledgeable guides pointing out the geology, flowstone formations, and historic tidbits (the place has been open to the public since the early 1930s). It's a great outing for families, couples, or anyone looking to do something unique -- you'll be under the earth's surface and totally immersed in nature's work. The gift shop and picnic area across the road add to the charm. Highly recommend to add this to your route if you're in the Lehigh Valley area -- you won't regret discovering this hidden gem.

My boyfriend and I came today and had a great time! Our tour guide, Connor, was very informative and he had some great jokes along the way. Definitely recommend! The cave was beautiful and has some great stories through its long history. 5 stars

A reasonably priced, brief, and extremely educational activity to explore a cavern. What a great opportunity to have in the Lehigh Valley. The tour guides are highly informative and engaging which shows their genuine concern for a successful tour. The gift shop offers a high variety of stones, gems, and typical gift shop souvenirs. Check out Lost River Cavern for a worthwhile exploration!

Cool formations. - Interior view of Lost River Caverns showing mineral formations such as stalactites and stalagmites on a rocky cave wall. The formations display different textures, colors, and shapes, with some areas appearing glossy and others rough. The image highlights the geological features created by mineral deposits over time within the limestone cavern.

Wonderful tour at an interesting site. The guide was cordial and well informed. Parking was free and easy, too. Perfect for a hot day with temperatures there at least 15 degrees cooler than on the surface.

Such an amazing experience. My daughter and I took the caverns tour today. Our tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. A very big gift shop that anyone will find a souvenir at. A part of the tour was closed off where the bridge was due to flooding. Without any notice they gave a small refund which they didn't need to do to make up for it. Awesome place! They also have a little hiking trail out front with trivia questions all over the place. All around the gift shop on the walls it looks like a museum with artifacts and stuff everywhere. Great place to bring the family.

Very cool experience. About an hour from start to finish. Guides were super informative about cave structures and the history of the cave. An amazing experience for all ages! Cave is a bit chilly in the winter so be prepared with hats and jackets at least. Definitely worth the price though. Afterwards, there is a gift shop where you'll find souvenirs and gems from all over.

A special formation. - The image shows a mineral formation on a rocky cave wall, illuminated with blue light. The surrounding rocks have textured surfaces with various shades of gray and brown, indicating natural geological features within the cave environment. The lighting highlights the mineral deposits and the uneven surface of the cave wall.

This is an excellent day trip for all ages. Takes about an hour including the fun gift shop. Try it!

Multiple rocks with various colors and textures are displayed on a ledge inside a dark cave. The rocks are illuminated with different colored lights, including green, white, pink, yellow, and blue, highlighting their features. The background shows the cave's interior with natural rock formations and a faintly visible ceiling. The display appears to be part of a geological exhibit or educational tour within the cave.

My boyfriend and I had a lot of fun. The guide (Adam) was entertaining, and he knew a lot of info. I'm from New York and my bf is from Ontario Canada, so we thought it was ironic that those two rocks happened to be displayed right next to each other lol

Picnic area near the parking lot. - A small, white wooden shelter with a peaked roof and a sign reading 'Lost River Mining Co' is positioned near a parking lot. The shelter has benches inside and is surrounded by lush green trees and plants. There is a gravel pathway leading into the shelter, and a trash can is placed nearby. The parking lot has yellow-painted curbs and white parking lines, with some leaves scattered on the asphalt.

Totally fun for kids and adults! It's a quick stop, maybe an hour tops. The tour guides are terrific and explain lots of info about cave formations, rocks, and research/history. Yes it's cold and wet - it's a cave! And, it's owned by a family, so it's a mom and pop operation. Be kind. Buy something in the gift shop. These are the kind of places we need to support as a community.

Here's Johnny!!! - A man with a beard, wearing a headlamp, is peeking out from a narrow, rocky cave opening inside a limestone cavern. The surrounding rock formations are textured and mineral-stained, indicating a natural underground environment.

Definitely worth visiting. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, gave a great tour.

This place is as kitschy as can be, and that's half the attraction. I haven't been here since I was kid, but back then it was always fun.

Upon arrival my fiancée and I were greeted by our pilot, Mark, as well as the owner and his wife. Very friendly and made us feel welcome! We didn't waste much time, and I had the privilege of watching pilot Mark do his pre-flight. He was very thorough and I could tell the bird was immaculately maintained. Shortly thereafter we were strapped in and on our way! Having only been my 2nd helicopter flight, I was geeking out the whole time, and Mark was on top of his game. Soon we were circling around the statue of liberty and on our way up the Hudson. Great views of the Freedom Tower and we went north, uptown and over the GWB before starting our return to Pittstown. Landing was flawless, came in with plenty of ground speed before smoothly exiting the active and calling it in. Pro. Pictures and words don't do it justice, this was one of the greatest experiences of my life!! Highly recommend stopping in for a quick flight (or lessons, or a license)!

Thank you Wade, you've made this experience a very memorable one. We will definitely recommend to our friends and family! OH! And the owner, Maria...was easily reachable. Unless you are medically unfit, you can do this. Exceptional customer service sums up the team at Jim Thorpe River Adventures (aka LOC). They are extremely well organized which makes for a great trip. Everyone from the moment you enter LOC until the very end was polite, professional and wanted to make sure you have a great time. Some tips to follow: you only need to arrive 15 minutes before your group time, this allows ample time to get situated. Buy their pre-made lunch, it is well worth the 10 bucks, bring extra water on the raft (especially in the summer). Use the bathroom before you get on the bus (and be quick). They give you a dry bucket for your lunch and items, yes you can bring your phone in a dry pouch. Wear a hat and a sun shirt, it is hot and sunny, without much shade. Jump in the water when you have the chance !! If you are a "full figured" person it will be difficult to re-enter the raft, be aware. The trip down river is very safe and well organized. The guides are VERY safety aware ! If you are nervous and listen to them, the team will get you down the river without a hitch ! A few suggestions: don't go on a busy holiday weekend, it can get crowded on the river, the safety briefing takes a long time and you a sitting in the sun (remove your vest and drink water), during July and August I would imagine the water is very low and slow (if it is a dry summer)...best only if you want to have a relaxing rafting trip. Overall, a bunch of fun. The entire family had a great time.
