I came here on a recommendation from a coworker. Although it is a hole in the wall kind of place, the prices are definitely right! I ordered a shrimp mofungo ($20.99) and Reds ($4) as well as a Coke ($3). My food came out nice and hot and hit the spot! There was a little confusion with our bill since we were paying separately and then they forgot to add the cokes on until after we handed over the cards. We got some happy hour special drinks, 2 for $18. One passionfruit margarita and one coconut mojito. The margarita was so much better than the mojito, that was a disappointment because I love mojitos here in PR. We were in Old San Juan and looking for lunch. First we walked into another place which was very full and no one was being served. Then we walked a bit further and saw this place and thought we'd give it a try. Didn't expect much as it looked like a bar, but it had tables towards the back. I ordered the beefsteak with rice. I was beyond surprised by how good this dish was. The meat had nice flavors and was very tender. Happy we found this place! It got busy but we were served fairly quickly. My favorite mofongo place by far! I was a little spooked from getting ushered in and the darkness of the place. It's a tiny ish spot with a bunch of dollar bills pasted on the wall. My waiter was super nice though. I ordered the steak mofongo and it was AMAZING. There was just enough garlic sauce to spread over each bite of mofongo so it wasn't dry. The steak was just right and super flavorful. Early 2000s music was playing + I didn't have to wait or make a reservation for this place, so definitely recommend coming here. read more

My party of four came in later in the evening with still an hour before the kichen closed and unfortunately the service was extremely disappointing from the start. Our waitress was rude and repeatedly reminded us how busy she was because she had another large table. Even when we asked for something simple like sauce, she seemed annoyed and made us feel uncomfertable. Despite this, we stayed polite and patient because it seemed like she might have been having a stressful night and we just wanted to get our phone while remaining calm no need for any issues. That quickly was not going to happen as thereal issue happened when a food runner bumped into one of the members of our party and knocked his entire meal onto his white pants. Instead of apologizing or helping, he simply walked away. When I spoke to the waiter about comping the meal since our friend no longer had anything to eat, the manager's solution was just to remake the dish. At that point we didn't want another meal.....we just wanted to leave after everything that had already happened. What made the situation even worse was that the food runner later returned and, after the person he spilled food on had went to use the bathroom, told the rest of us that we needed to be "more aware." Alongside other rude comments. When I told him that his comment was inappropriate and that he should show some professionalism, he became visibly agitated. His behavior was completely unacceptable. The waitress later admitted that she knew he might act like that and said she had tried to stop him from saying anything. Keep in mind she had watched the entire incident happen and never stepped in at the time. She even told us out of nowhere not to tip because she knew what had happened was not right from her service all the way to the managers decision making. The food itself was not terrible, but it certainly wasn't worth the experience we had to deal with. From the manager to the server to the food runner, the entire situation was handled in an extremely unprofessional way. Having food dumped on a customer with no apology or assistance is unacceptable. Our group remained respectful the entire time despite dealing with rude staff and poor service. I would not recommend this restaurant!!!! Torn. Food is decent, service was kind and quick on a slow Saturday evening, music gave some life. It's cold inside as other reviews mentioned, between AC and fans blowing. Drinks were served in red plastic cups, silverware was plastic like in a fast food joint - plastic bag and all. These small but major details made this a subpar experience. Instead of a dive bar vibe, it simply made the experience feel ghetto. House lemonade is $10, also served in a red solo cup. Yeyos is incredibly authentic, and the food is absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the BBQ chicken with rice and beans and also eggs and fries, topped with an incredibly savory and flavorful hot sauce that really brought everything together. The authentic lemonade, fruit punch, and strawberry kiwi drinks were amazing, and the fresh orange juice was truly out of this world. While the service isn't super fast, the wait is 100% worth it. Horrible service. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees, in Spanish very polite. One plate came out and the chicken was completely tough, and the second entree didn't come out for another 20 minutes. When I confronted the chef about the staggered time. He gave me attitude and was very condescending. Saying if "if I gave it to you earlier it would be raw" Which is just idiotic because I work in food service and you NEVER send out half an order. Especially before cocktails. All the food we got was overcooked and dry. Staff was all rude even when we spoke their language and were very kind. Would never recommend. Our cruise ship swung by San Juan for a couple hours and I had two missions: rum and mofongo. After satisfying my rum cravings we searched for an authentic place to get mofongo. Sadly there are a lot of tourist traps in San Juan (like birthplace of the pina colada? Come onnnnnnn man, do better). But we finally found this place. Unassuming joint that was 1/3 restaurant, 1/3 sundries store, 1/3 liquor store? Manager had Keith sweat on repeat, beers were cheap and ice cold. We were more than ready for the food and DAMN was it delicious! We had skirt steak and roast pork mofongo and a couple local Puerto Rican microbrews. Everything about the meal was incredible, totally low key vibes and great location. I will always recommend this place to friends going to San Juan! read more

We got a mofongo with crab here as a second dinner (lol we were hungry) / post-dinner snack. My friend liked it more than me, I think there are better mofongos in the city and it was a bit salty, but it was still solid. The interior (especially a side room with lights) was super cute but it was so cold in the restaurant especially as you got farther in. The air conditioning was blasting and it wasn't hot enough outside to warrant it, in my opinion. We didn't have drinks, but the prices looked cheap/reasonable. read more

After searching yelp for a local place to go to while visiting from a cruise we decided to stop in here. It's a fairly small place so keep in mind you may sit with other people or close to them. They play 90s music which was fun. We got seated immediately and our order taken quickly however there was a bit of a language barrier but we made it work. For drink I ordered a coke which in a can and then I got a rum punch which had a good flavor however it was thick. I'm pretty sure they use fresh fruit not processed juices. Hubby got a Cuba libre and it was strong but good esp with a lime squeeze. Started with a chicken and a beef meat pie and they were sadly mostly dough but still good. Would have definitely liked more filling. They gave us a bottle of hot sauce to go with them and it was a bit spicy but a needed addition to the meat pies Main course I ordered crab mofongo it had a very good flavor and was a large portion. Only complaint was the whole meal was one texture so if you're like me and have texture issues order a different meat option. Hubby got the pork mofongo and the meat was plentiful and large portion as well. Great taste and well seasoned. They have restrooms and they take Apple Pay. We were here for lunch at 1:30pm, the place is pretty empty when we walked in, but while we were waiting for our food, it filled up with full house. I guess it's the happy hour! The tiny table beside us were sit by 4 people. It's certainly get crowded. It's quite some wait to get our food as the waitress saying they only have one chef at work today. We finally got our food, and they gave my husband's food to me, and mine to him, even after i confirmed with the waitress. Obviously she has no idea what it should look like. I had their beaf stew and he has their chicken Mafongo but eventually got pork. Very dried pork! At halfway, i almost want to complain to the waitress that this is not beef i ordered, and it tasted like pork, and then i found out my husband is thinking the same thing! Oh my god. We switched our dishes. When we want to check out for bill, the girl print us a bill with all kinds of happy hour drinks on the bill and both of us don't drink! I asked the lady, she finally realized the mistake, and came back with another wrong bill with additional bottle water! I can't believe this place! San Juan had no water in the town so everything came on paper and plastic plates/silverware. The mofungo was really good. Nice tomato flavor and not dry. The empanadas were really big but not a lot of meat compared to the size. More pastry than meat. Bbq chicken was dry but the sauce was tasty. Pasta salad was a surprise(not on the menu) but pretty bland. Non alcoholic drinks tasted like store brand lemonade and fruit punch. We were a party of five so they sat our group in a hallway with three narrow tables out together. One the food arrived my Obed impression is that not all Puertorican food is created equal. The chicharrones de pollo was well cooked but under seasoned. The bbq chicken was juicy and tender. The arroz con habichuelas and gandules was well cooked and nicely seasoned. It came with no sides and was a bit pricey compared to other places that sell mofongo with a side included. The chicken cracklings we did not like. Terrible customer service and not worth your time or money. We ordered, paid, and waited over 45 minutes for just one drink and one mofongo. I followed up with the staff a couple of times about the order and eventually asked for it to be packed to go because we were running out of time to catch our boat. When I finally requested a refund, they suddenly made the drink and handed us the food, which turned out to be cold--like it had been sitting out for a while. The restaurant wasn't even busy. To make things worse, they changed the TV news channel the moment we started watching it, which felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. Another group came in, waited over 10 minutes to be seated, and eventually gave up and left. It felt like the staff had a bad attitude, possibly driven by ego or pride, even though we had done nothing to warrant such treatment. As paying customers, we at least expected our food to come out in a timely manner. Unfortunately, even that basic expectation wasn't met. Disappointing experience overall and do not recommend. read more
