Everyone in town is excited to try this new restaurant. I was pretty skeptical at first when I see the menu prices because they're higher the most places in town. I ordered their super burrito and an asada sope. The burrito was huge even bigger than a roll of paper towels. Its costs $13 and is enough for two meals. It has asada, bacon, beans and rice. Also has guacamole and pico de gallo. With a little salt this burrito is very good but it is not like a New Mexican burrito so don't expect hot green or red chile. Next the sope. The sope itself is basically Gordita bread flattened out and covered with asada, lettuce and guacamole. And at $5 is one of the cheaper items on the menu. It was good but a little bland. If you like del taco you'll like this place. If you prefer NM style food you probably won't like this place. The service was very friendly and people who'd eaten say the workers can't communicate with the customers because they don't know English?? Bologna, they understand very well and they're very friendly and polite. The wait time was pretty bad especially for claiming to be Mexican fast food. About 35 minutes to get my food and they were not super busy yet. The prices are high for this type of food I believe. Would I come back? Probably if I'm in the mood for Mexican food but I prefer NM cuisine so I'm a little biased. It's good it's not great. It's different and I'm glad they're in town. You'll have to be the judge for yourself on this one...

Both the husband and wife who own the place work there and really try to make a difference. All the staff I met were very helpful and kind. I love the fact that they got locally sourced.Chiles for their salsas and their chillie cheeseburgers. Although I had a tech burger , I made sure I got a side of the local chiles. They have an extensive variety of food chicken dishes, salad's and burgers. Restaurants and bars are also about expectations, what type of bar and restaurant are you going to? And everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. The small town restaurants you have to remember serve local families, ranchers, couples on dates to workers on temporary assignment for cable or some other service and really are gathering places. They're not used to big city out of town tourists. So if you keep that in mind you'll have a great experience at any of the small towns you visit. They offer quite a variety of New Mexico beers as well as some regular favorites. They make quite a variety of cocktails as well. Single diners are welcome at the bar or they'll fit you in a table. If that's not too busy.

It's a beautiful place with a nice dining room and bar area. The menu has just enough to choose from that anyone should be able to pick something they would like. Nothing is too fussy and the prices are decent for a steakhouse in a small mountain town that depends a lot on tourism. I have been there for lunch, for dinner, by myself and with friends - probably over a dozen times over several years. Not once have I walked away feeling like I had a great experience. The service is usually decent but the servers always seem way more interested in chatting with each other or hanging out with other employees. On more than one occasion I've heard them complain about other customers or getting another table as more customers come in the door. The food is generally okay but nothing special. It's not a complicated menu but you can order the same thing more than once and who knows how it will show up to the table. Over or under cooked, way over seasoned or missing ingredients listed on the menu - this has happened to me several times. Walking into the restaurant you are rarely greeted by someone right away. It takes a while for anyone to notice you and then if someone does it's usually a busy server or someone who doesn't look like they work there. Today I was greeted by someone who was dressed like they were cleaning out their garage. Several times I've been seated at the only clean table in the room. By the time I've left, the tables have all been dirty and no one has touched them during my entire meal. A table was only cleaned if it was needed for someone else coming in. It's a really bad impression. Something needs to be done to isolate the kitchen from the front of the house. You can hear the kitchen staff yelling, cursing and playing loud heavy metal music throughout the dining room and bar. During meals I have learned a lot about the personal lives of the staff and not because I wanted to. All of these things are fixable. I keep going back because I'll hear that there is a new manager or a new chef but it seems like nothing ever really changes and it's a shame.

One of my colleagues used to work in Socorro, so she was happy to be our tour guide for that segment of the trip, sharing personal anecdotes, fun facts, local insights, and other background on Socorro County. There was a decent crowd in the restaurant for the lunch rush, and all signs indicated that this place would be solid. Once we were seated, and I had a chance to scan the menu, I quickly landed on the stuffed sopaipillas since I had never had that particular dish before. About ten minutes later, our meals were expertly delivered to our table in perfect unison. The stuffed sopaipilla came out piping hot and extremely well-seasoned.
